| Ok there's propably a hundred 'Old VS 4E' threads already but theres one thing annoying me. I normally embrace new 4E minis as they don't really affect my day to day business if they're naff but the new Wyvern has got me reaching for the aspirins.
Whereas the old Wyvern looks (relatively) ferocious, the new wyvern is almost a joke! It loks like it's been designed by a 3 year old on recreational drugs! TBF, i've only seen the pre-painted model so i'm sure hoping the final mini will have colours that actaully make this new wyvern look ferocious (I wouldn't be surprised if it was only in primary colours). Wyvern's been murdered by the 4E dagger which has yet to bug me as much as it has on this occassion. Other than that... 4E looks good ^_^

| Being used to the wyvern-look from 2nd edition Ad&D I prefer the new one over the freak from Aberrations. A lot of creatures revert style-wise to 2nd edition, which I think is a good thing.

Skirmish wise the new Wyvern seems to be a usable piece. I never used the old Wyvern in skirmish.

Well... the new green dragon art is dodgy to say the least but at least it looks like a dragon! Non some bi-pedial battysaurus which couldn't intimidate a kobold miner let alone greature minis! I still want one though ¬_¬

| Both Wyverns look very similar (except for color scheme) to me.
I don't see enough difference between the two Wyverns to spend money on the new one.

| For me, I still haven't decided if I am going to keep the Young Green Dragon (leaning towards no). That is one stupid (like intelligence of 2) looking creature. In stark contrast to the Large Green Dragon, which was truly awesome, IMO.
Though I have seen the picture of the wyvern, I cannot tell enough to form a final opinion. I may get two just to increase my wyvern total. I am not thinking at this point that the new wyvern is terrible. I don't have a preference between the two yet. | |

| My take on this one is pretty much the same as my take on most if not all resculpts. I like the one I already have better so that I don't have to spend money on the new one. I've got three Aberrations wyverns and unless somebody wants to take those three off my hands for three of the new ones in a single trade then I've no interest in the new one and will seek to rid myself of any I pull. Same goes for the new Death Knight, Large Red Dragon, Mindflayer, Hook Horror, Griffon, Vrock, Young Silver Dragon, Ettin, Beholder, Vampire Vizier, Bralani, Bone Claw, Minotaur, and Rakshasa Baron (unless it's large or really looks different).
All of the above if I pull any (I'm just getting one case) will go in the trade bin.
Also going into the trade bin will be...Oni (Orge Mages will cover this roll fine), Orb Wizard (I have enough rare wizards), Immolith (I like it but I don't see much use for it. Undead demon is too odd and unlikely an encounter for my tastes) and the Champion of Baphmet (I cannot believe they are giving us another rare Dragonborn when they are making it a core race).
So that leaves me with...Fen Hydra, Hellsword Ascendant, Lamia (odd but interesting looking), Balhannoth and Angel of Valor as the only rares I'm keen to get. Should make this a fairly simple set to collect for me. | |

| Hi Everyone, When I first picked up the 3.0 Monster Manual, one of the first things I recalled was thinking, "What on earth did they do the Wyvern!" When I picked up an Aberrations Wyvern, it began to grow on me. That figurines was well made and one of the best of that set. But ultimately this is not a Wyvern. I truly can not judge the new one until I have it in my hands, but if it is closer to this then I am all for it: |
