| | It's also better to look yourself at BIN prices, and also at the prices of sellers here in market place (http://www.maxminis.com/Forums/tabid/104/view/topics/forumid/54/Default.aspx) as that tends to be more accurate of selling them promptly. | | "Mutton yesterday, mutton today, and blimey, if it don't look like mutton again tomorrer." | I use Troll and Toad as a max/min price system. Somewhere in between there selling and buying prices is where you'll find a ballpark price. Handy for trading...

| | You'd probably get more for your miniatures at auction vs. 'Buy It Now'. I'd avoid price guides. They're like rules for IRC chatrooms. Pointless. | | ScruffyRanger's Promo Page! Check it out here!

Hello orencapshaw,
Welcome! It takes a little effort, but Ebay is the best way to gauge the current value of minis. Ebay is this pure market place where the buyer, the highest bidder, dictates value. What I do is track the closing auction prices of minis, including shipping, because shipping can vary. DDMs tend to go up and down in price over time. For instance, the Arch Fiends Drzzt for a long time was the reigning heavy weight king of DDMs. This one little piece of plastic often sold at auction for over $100. But because Wizards of the Coast released a Drzzt in the Icingdeath set, the price of Drzzt has been in decline. It still sells for around $40, but that is well below it averages of say six months or so ago.
I like to see at least three to four closing auctions of a mini, and that will give me a good idea of its current resale value. Having this value gives me an idea of what would be a fair trade at a given point in time. Looking at one auction is not enough because you can see wild swings. Sometimes two or more buyers will get in a bidding war and drive the auction up. Other times bidding is slow and some real bargains can be had.
Now this maybe way too much work for you, and I would understand this. I have this sickness where I find tracking auctions fun!  You can always look at the "Buy It Now" price of minis being sold by various Ebay merchants. This is more of a Retail price, but it will give you a good idea.
I tend not to trust list as they often quote prices far higher than closing auction prices on Ebay and even the Buy It Now prices. These list sometimes are not current.
At present, DDM prices are down overall from what they were a year ago. There is uncertainty in the market place with the coming of 2.0/4.0.  And, like everything else, if the economy is weak the selling prices are weak. Â
Again welcome.
Mazra
