My 2.0 excitement is starting to fade for various reasons. First, I've had enough with testing with just Desert. There's little variety with the set, especially if you don't want to buy more just for the reason for minis being 2.0. If you want to play themed bands, there's even less variety. And then there's Eternal Blade.

There's been rumors of NB conversion coming for quite a while - maybe 3 or 4 weeks ago we heard they were 1 or 2 weeks away - but still nothing. Having to wait for updated Desert cards was also frustrating, as we knew they were ready. It's good that in a few weeks we should have a lot more variety, but right now this feels depressing. I decided I'm not arranging/attending DDM games before that happens.

In addition, I'm starting to see the same signs that were disappointment for many of us in DDM1: There will probably be many figs that aren't just worth playing. One of the reasons for my excitement was the idea of being able to play all the cool figs that were were hugely overcosted in DDM1. If Death Knight for example isn't allowed to be used with new DK stats, I'm afraid it will be made overcosted again, as will happen to many other others. I really hope I'm wrong with this... I believe that every fig in DDM should be effective; even if it wouldn't be effective on it's own, it should be made effective with by some other fig (that isn't overcosted in turn); One of the best things WotC made in DDM1 was Village Priest (even if he was squishy)! Variety (also in competitive play) is richness and makes playing more interesting!

I think this is also a reason why Eternal Blade is bad; If the special ability would work against a named creature instead of keyword, it would encourage themed warbands with variety of creatures of that same type; If you would be afraid of EB, you would choose not to fill your band with that one superior follower, but take a variety of themed creatures that work well with the champion effect even if they aren't as good as that one fig. Right now this seems to conflict the principles of encouraging themed warbands and reducing bad match-ups.

I'm also concerned about older titans, and starting to think that not changing the point values is a mistake. Most new figs are quite cheap, many older figs are much more expensive. As titans have already been weakened, how would a 120pt fig work against smaller ones, especially if there's three ~40 point effective creatures lead by Eternal Blade? Besides, DDM pieces should resemble RPG pieces, or those that are GM's and Skirmishers will be confused. Point cost should work as a guideline what kind of encounters would be suitable for players.

I'd throw a random guess that a fire giant should probably be some 70pt creature with changed power levels, at maximum. How do you change it so that it's worth 50 more points?

I agree that they need to at least consider re-costing some of the older minis. But, we'll see. Maybe Peter and the crew can put together some stuff that impresses us. I hope so.

I'm not sure if older minis should be recosted, but rather give them cool abilities and stats that make them worth their cost.

But if the point difference is really huge, how to do it, especially so that it still works like RPG version? Large (=young) silver dragon is now 60 point less than Archfiends -one, AND it's a champion. 60 more points would make it totally different... We don't know yet if there's another large (silver) dragon category than young, which would help.

True. Perhaps a few magic user lvls and spells for the Archfiends dragon? I wish there was more of that when dragons are involved.

We will have to see how 4.0 shapes out to see what can really be done to restatting DDM.

I'm for pricier figs with more powerful abilities, as long asd titans remain competitive.
