| Posted By Bert the Troll on 03/25/2008 2:58 PM Posted By Ghendar on 03/25/2008 4:18 AM WotC is not concerned about secondary minis values. It has no effect on their decision making. Personally I disagree. The official line is that WoTC ignores or does not recognize  the secondary market, but it's kinda hard to believe that they make all decisions in a vacuum of fact it exists. eg when Drizzt was released with Icing death there were comments like it wont hurt the older figures collectiblilty etc. I don't think it is a big factor, especially compared with primary sales, but a company size of WoTC with be negligent to to include every well known factor about sales in their decision making, even if its to disregard it's importance ;) That's my point. They disregard its importance.
They can acknowledge the secondary market perhaps. I'll give you that, but the idea that secondary values has any appreciable effect on their decision making is laughable to me. If Ian wants to jump in and prove me wrong, I'd welcome some info from the horses mouth, as it were.

Hi Ghendar,
You know WotC should be pleased when their creations sell in the after markets for big bucks. It would be an immediate sign of success in their creations. It is a very good barometer that what they are doing is working. It is when these items have little or no worth in the after market that their success is coming to an end. To prove what I am saying just look at the after market sells for Mage Knight. You can buy entire collections for pennies a fig.

That's a good sign for me then. Hi Thenameless,
Unfortunately not for me. The first instance I claim any degree of humility, then something almost immediately occurs that firmly reminds myself how much I truly lack in humility.
Alot of people do not realize that meek does not mean weak.   Â
But it is a great opening line to one of the best epic tunes ever crafted. :)

Keep this up and we may actually have the makings of a tournament in the Atlanta area. Hooray!  Just tell me when and where. (Also 1.0 or 2.0; 200 pt or epic, etc.; or better yet we can start a 4.0 campaign) :)

| I play DnD mostly with the minis.
Short history :
I began playing 1.0 the day Harbinger hit the stores. I bought almost a case of Harbinger. My friends and I played according to the rules, but mostly with theme bands.. which was somewhat unbalancing but crazy fun. For some reason I missed the release of Dragoneye, but was still able to buy a few boosters when I picked up some Archfiends (first box I opened had a Drizzt). Then my crew kinda stopped playing with the minis so I bought like 1 box of Giants of Legend and shoved all of my stuff in a box in the closet.
I play DnD every Sunday with my friends and we began using the Minis in our game. Now since 4th edition is on the way and it incorporates the minis better and the skirmish is more streamlined (and the cards aren't black and white and lame anymore) we have started getting back into it.
WELL - I don't do anything halfway so I have spent about $400 on minis in the past two weeks. I bought all the Icons, bought nearly every dragon and have been filling in the blanks here and there. I put together a book for the cards, printed out the 2.0 cards (then laborously cut them out) and I'm ready to play! | | -=Trokair=- | |

We need to get with Auggie and play a little 2.0. And while together we can plan a 4.0 campaign too. And if we really don't like it, we can go back to 1.0 and 3.5. (The last time I checked, I still have all my books.) :)
