Flooded Ruins: "River squares are difficult terrain for non Aquatic creatures"
Crossroads: No text. The "X" and "O" just indicate the starting points for the Human Sellsword and the Yuan-Ti in the initial battle for beginners.
Monster Lair: "Use this map for Quick Start games and battles of up to 100 points per side."
Jungle Temple: "Healing Font: A creature that begins its turn on or adjacent to this space can heal 20 HP as an attack action."
and "Jungle Terrain -treat as forest"
Dwarven Outpost: Same as Flooded Ruins.
Thanks!  Nice and easy.  It's good that they've avoided complicated rules for the maps.

They gave the green a long snake-like neck and then put a clown nose on him. I'm not certain, but I think the Red Dragon is laughing at him... but those who live in glass houses...

Now that we have the new maps, people should start to testing them in skirmish play a lot in order to know how they work in competitive play.I want to know if these new maps will be playable or people will continue playing the old ones (like thieves quarters) much more.I hope the new ones will see a lot of play

Nice pictures, esp. the comparison.

I just opened my case and will post some more comparisons in the morning (about 9 hours from now).

The former evil humanoids (gnoll, orc, goblin, kobold, troglodyte) look really cartoonish and unlike the ones in older sets. :(
I'll post some comparisons of them later.

The paint job on all the rares looked pretty good on first sight (didn't unwrap them as yet).

Pretty happy overall with the case though my by far most wanted - the young silver dragon - wasn't in.

Rakshasa Baron, Eye of Flame, Hydra (though leg-less), Mindflayer and Minotaur made me say yay while I don't have use for the Lamia, Hellsword and Immolith will go to the trade bin (will anyone take them for the silver dragon? ;) ).

Couldn't decide on Vrock, Wyvern, Griffon (looked a lot smaller than the Deathknell one) and Bralani (very detailed sculpt but awkward without pants).

On a side note: The Bugbear has two collected heads on his back. The Dwarven Warlord has a crossbow on his back and a scepter in his left hand.

(gnoll, orc, goblin, kobold, troglodyte)

I have the gnoll, trog, and goblin. I think the goblin looks great, really close to the Goblin Blackblade (IMO the best looking goblin). The gnoll is ok, but I think a better paint job/scheme would have worked wonders. The trog is just a major departure from the 3.x look, so I haven't made up my mind on that one yet. I am glad it doesn't look so much like another lizardfolk though.

The green.... ewwww....... The maps and the other figs look good.

Pathetic Earthlings. Hurling your bodies out into the void - without the slightest inkling of who or what is out here. If you had known anything about the true nature of the universe - anything at all - you would have hidden from it in terror.

meh. The problem I'm seeing with the new green dragon is not the horn on the nose, but rather that the back of his head is WAAAAY too close to the base of his neck. His brain is essentially right between his eyes, he needed a longer head in general.

Hi Everyone,

Curious! Will the five figs in the starter also be randomized in the boosters like with the A&A 1939-1945 set.

Thanks,

Btw - I did mean the Huge Silver in Against the Giants. It looks pretty sweet.

HUGE SILVER? Wow and yay! Is this confirmed? Are there any pics?

Here just some size comparisons:

And some impressions and personal opinions:

- amazing paint job on Eye of Flame!
- Rakshasa Baron is leaned forward and has a bright pink nose (like a clown). :( Otherwise great looking!
- I like the Mind Flayer Scourge aside from the unpainted dagger (wish it would be an uncommon).
- Dire Wolf must be the best looking wolf so far!
- Spectral Panther is stunning. It looks silverish unless exposed to direct light when you see the clear plascit. Not sure about the mane, though...
- Gnoll has 7 different colours - not too bad for a common. Wish they hadn't painted the wood on his shield silverish
- Kobold Archer one of my favourite looking kobolds this far (Meepo and Wizard being the others)
- Drow Wandmage could have used some more paint on upper body. Gets a nice evil look by his white eyebrows. Like the silver cloak
- Dwarf Warlord - just one of the many, many examples of minis that could have used some paint on their weapons carried on back. Very serious, old looking face and overall awesome sculpt. One of my favourite dwarves so far. Still don't get the grey skin. That's one mini I'd like to win with a Peter Lee paintjob.

A) For everyone that dislikes the underhand of the Red Dragon, please give them to me, and I will bend them. And keep them. :D
B) I didn't really like the new trog until I had it in hand. The style is very different, but the sculpt is fantastic! The detail on it surpass pretty much any common we've ever gotten. As a side note, the Bugbear also looks pretty badass in person, though the Kobold has a very large head, and is pretty big overall. Oh, and I think Shoe said that there isn't a Huge Silver in ATG, it was merely the YSD from DuD. It's on the WOTC forums somewhere...

The new bugbear might be very well done, but for RPG, I don't see myself putting out a group that are all carrying around a head. I don't see the need for more than a couple of those at most, whereas if it didn't have a head, the mini looks good enough to get a lot of.

The year: 1994. From out of space comes a runaway planet, hurtling between the Earth and the Moon, unleashing cosmic destruction! Man's civilization is cast in ruin!
Two thousand years later, Earth is reborn...
A strange new world rises from the old: a world of savagery, super science, and sorcery. But one man bursts his bonds to fight for justice! With his companions Ookla the Mok and Princess Ariel, he pits his strength, his courage, and his fabulous Sunsword against the forces of evil.

I don't think minis should be looked from that close, unless they have special handling :P

Even if the Trog is great sculpt, I don't think I'm keeping them. It's too different from original Trogs, and like the old ones a lot!

Which side? So far we have seen what appears to be a yuan-ti, death giant/titan, and earth giant/titan on the side of the AtG boosters, but not a Silver Dragon. There was a photo of a non minis Silver Dragon in an WotC by the AtG ad.

This is the pic I'm referring to..

Why make the art and include it on the poster/box whatever if its not in the plans to ship? Especially when I think it would be universally accepted as one of the big "wants".

I'm blocked from DDMSpoilers while at work. But I believe that is the artwork I was refering to in my previous post. There was talk about this dragon in previous threads both here and at Hordelings. Runelord posted this tease from Shoe about the artwork:

By the by, assuming the silver represents a huge might lead to either disappointment or elation.
Disappointment, if that's the sort of thing you want, or elation, if you think the Aspect of Bahamut is already a reasonable proxy.

I read that statement as the silver is not a huge, but rather the artwork was meant for the Young Silver Dragon in DoD2 (I could be wrong).
