| Veering off from Dungeons of Dread for a moment...
In either a seller or collector's point of view, how does one classify the rarity of an Icons dragon?
Would they be counted as rare because of the price or size ... or "common" because they are usually available and the price is relatively fixed?
I have a Red, 2 Blues, and 2 Whites and I was just wondering of the possible future collectible value of my sealed doubles. The White, since it contains 2 other figs, poses another question: do the Icons incarnations of Wulfgar and Drizzt have any collectible value compared to the regular booster minis?
Thanks.

| | I would classify minis from both Icons packs and the new Starter pack for DuD as I (Icon) and S (Starter). They don't have C/U/R rarity because they are not distributed with those rarities in random boosters. They have a unique rarity because they come in predetermined sets. I would have difficulty having the combined value for any figures coming in packs being above the MSRP of the package--at least until they start being out of print and easy circulation. | | "Look to God and live." | | Corim Danex gives a good analysis of the situation. The most official answer, in my opinion, is that the icons would be considered rares. WotC uses the circle symbol for commons, the diamond symbol for uncommons, and the star symbol for rares. The icon figures have the star on both their bases and their stat cards. Also, consider that both Wulfgar and Drizzt are rares in their respective sets. | | Over 270 successful online DDM trades. | |

| | From what I can tell from listening to folks is that many stores are having to heavily discount these things to be able to move them. Listening to WoTC reps talk about the Icon line as a failure, I don't think these things will see any increase in value in some time. | | Champion of the Kender ckissee - "providing TPK's since 2007" Albert Einstein never once said that if the bees disappeared, "man would have only four years of life left" but the theory is a scary prospect. | |

| | I agree the icon dragons are not hard to find period and they have dropped in price since they have came out. so I would not think they will ever rise or at least not in a long even time to count. | | Champion of the Peryton Vindicated Champion : Pit Fiend, Devourer DW: Duergar Priest RPG Only!!!! | | They actually move pretty well here...It's definitely done good by my FLGS, but I reckon we're the anomaly. | | The year: 1994. | | My local has done decent with all but the red, and even that one has slowly depleted in stock at msrp over time. They tend to burn through more of them around Christmas, which can tend to be expected with lost parents and other relatives blundering into the store without a clue. The only one that sold well immediately was the white, and that was more do to the two minis included with it. I account them as shelf filler that looks impressive..with minor usefulness. The unfortunate thing is that I could see is the people who want them are usually kids and they cannot afford the price. My two cents. | | Sawed-off beholder eye stalks.....get'em while they're hot! | |

| I've seen them move fairly well.
My guess is, they'll go up a long ways down the road, if they don't get reprinted.

| | Not much in here. Only collectors and a few interested people buy it. I imagine the white one had the best sales due to the figs included. | | 2007 & 2008 Czech Republic Champion 2008 Czech Republic's Player of the Year
