| | I am afraid to start caring about this set after the last one was so disappointing to me. Actually, I find myself not caring much about the next set. So many repaints and 4e changes that I ended up with a lot of rares I didn't want. I don't expect there not to be a lot of remakes and changes in the next set, so I don't expect to be buying much of it. | | "Look to God and live." | Posted By greyhaze on 04/28/2008 10:27 AM Singles is the way to go Corim, I swear by it. If you really want to hasten the time of getting a personally coveted mini without the suspense and stress, then yes -- nothing beats singles. However, dumb luck booster draws do save you a lot of money.
I usually buy 3-4 boosters, as soon as the set comes out, just for fun. If there is a lucky streak, I get more boosters. If not, then individual acquisition it is.

| Single Boosters are good for impulse purchases only imho. Dumb luck is nice when it happens - everyone likes pulling that high value rare, but pulling a Runecarved Eidolon, Heirophant of the Seventh Wind, etc. is usually just as likely to happen making that particular booster worth far less than it cost to buy it.
Most folks seem to prefer buying sealed cases.
For the cost of a case though, I've found I can usually get almost all the rares I really want from a set with a little left over to purchase the UC/C I want too. I usually purchase a couple boosters so I have a few to trade off as well. This last set was a little harder for me since there were three minis that were all somewhat higher priced: Eye of Flame, Young Red Dragon, and Young Silver Dragon. Being on a tight budget sucks!
*EDIT* I'm excited about AtG, but I am most likely going to have to trade for most of my rares this time around. I have literally no $$$ to spend on my gaming habits currently. I do hope we get some previews soon though. It gives me something to look forward to each week!

| However, dumb luck booster draws do save you a lot of money.
In Dungeons of Dread, the only miniatures that you couldn't buy cheaper than a booster were the two dragons (silver may be cheaper) and the Eye of Flame. I'd rather not buy a booster for minis I could have bought from Auggie's for about 5$. I myself only buy one booster from the FLGS and have been disappointed everytime. | I tend to buy 2-3 cases during the release of a set, and then fill up with singles. gives me all commons and uncommons in nice quantities and almost allways a great selection of rares.
I hardly ever buy additional boosters though, a 1 in 24 chance I will get the mini I still want, way too expensive.

| | 3-4 boosters first isn't a bad way to go. But, if you miss out on the chase rares after the price/demand jacks up, u may end up paying more than you would have initially. I preorder. It's not for everybody admittedly, but for those that are unhappy with the selection, like Corim, it's the best way to go imho. | | Greyhaze's DDM Spoilers Champion of a Medium Dog & then a Darkenbeast , Raistlin Majere, Nightmare WDQ25/60, Warduke WD60/60, Anti-Champion of Guns, "Knight of Bugbears", and Joke Champion of Venger. | Booster's are a better value, just for quantity. But if quantity isn't your bag (bay-by) then singles would be the better option.

| | I was an avid case buyer. When UH came along, I just traded for most of what I wanted. NB was a major improvement and I ended up with about 5 cases. Then came Ded and I was let down and went back to singles/trades only, though I would buy a GCube booster when I could find one. With this new set, I spent less than $100 and got pretty much everything i wanted, including 3 Vrocks and 5 of the Starter Yuan-Tis. | | The year: 1994. That's really not the cast though with Huges boosters: there are only 2 Uc in each booster (not counting the possible huge Uc). | | Originally posted by Schooly_D Username - he deals in minis Champion of Lhesh Haruuc Shaarat'kor | |

I seem to remember someone from WotC saying there was going to be some different distribution with this set? Have they announced it yet? I'd very much like this huge set to be like GoL in the way of 9 minis to a booster (1 huge & 8 regular) with 72 minis in the total set (12 huge and 60 regular). | | Originally posted by Schooly_D Username - he deals in minis Champion of Lhesh Haruuc Shaarat'kor

| Sealed case is the 'way' to go, if you like numbers for RPG, picking/swapping the rest up. If it's just for skirmish, then I think singles are the winners.
