| Ladies and Gentlemen, we have a brand new king of base overhang....bleh. Not liking either of the 3 that are in the 1st pic.....the Yuan-Ti Anathema looks terrible and the weird blue lizard/dog with the strapless armor just looks silly.
Pretty sure the large to the left of the Yuan-Ti is the Fire Giant Raider we heard about. Looks like possibly another Dragon to the right of the Huge White, probably one of the new ones. | | The year: 1994. | Thanks for the post. Holy base overhang, Batman! Talk about a terrible introduction to the set. That base overhang is so beyond the pale that it has solidified my decision to not buy cases again. Well done WotC, completely ignoring people complaining of base overhang for the past 1.5 years. This set was definitely made after the uproar.

| the huge battle worg: Looks cool to me. Somewhat narrow use but will definatly feature somewhere in my future campaigns.
White dragon: Ackward pose, still its a mssing dragon slot and fairly cool looking. Will always take another huge dragon of any flavor.
Yaun-ti snake god: I'm not crazy about yaun-ti but this one looks pretty neat. Not a lot of cross use. Maybe as something from Age of Worms. Least favorite of the 3 but still a good sculpt.

| Yeah, admittedly I am a little saddened by the overhang of the White Dragon. Still though, it is a Huge White...
I'm a little more excted by the Yuan-Ti as they can double for weird Yig-related monsters in Cthulhu. Not real sure I care much for the Big Blue Drake/Dragon/Worg/Whatever it is.
Still though, I like the Fire Giant and blazing skeleton I've seen so far and it does look like I'll finally get the chance to own a Huge Red Dragon. Here's to hoping the sculpt for the Huge Red is as good as the Sculpt for the Large Silver from DoD2 is.

I don't think the issues being raised here are whether (in some sense) the minis are worth the price - it's more a matter of whether people actually want them.
We can argue about whether the pose of the white dragon looks 'cool' or not, but two thirds of the market for these minis is RPG - and a miniature with that much overhang is a real pain to try to use. It might not fit on the map, and it makes it impossible to get any other miniatures anywhere near it. Because of the overhang, I won't be buying one - why waste money on something I'll never use?
I think Corim's point is the important one - their customers have been saying repeatedly that overhang is a problem, but WotC keep coming out with more 'undesirable' overhang minis, and the overhang is becoming ever more absurd. WotC could well find that they bring out a set that looks 'cool', but which sits on the shelves because their market doesn't want minis that won't be used.
I'm not excited about any of these huges. The huge creatures I want to use in RPG, and for which I still want minis, are the Aboleth, the Nalfeshnee, elementals and a Spider-Eater. I think there'll be slim pickings in this huge selection for me. | | Champion of the Bodak.Knight of the Aboleth.Squire of Gnomes. Friend of (Non-Ugly) Fey. I hope that you are right.
I generally like what I see of the white dragon and the snake-that-walks/yuan-ti anathema. The white dragon does have some serious overhang issues, but I can forgive those if sculpt and paint job are good (and the things isn't riddled with conspicuous seams). I think I'll pass on the worg. I hope it's an uncommon.

Judging by the complexity of the paint job, I'd say it's an uncommon. I also hope it's an uncommon, as I would rather have a rare slot taken up by, say, and aboleth, remorhaz, or nalfeshnee (assuming they're still huge). In any event, I hope the white dragon rather than the worg is indicative of the quality of the huge rares.
Not liking the seam on the anathema's right hand, btw. - I think they could have worked it into the sculpt better to make it less visible.

Not so big on the Bluespawn Armourtard (Canadian eh). Don't really like the Angel, but he does look pretty cool. The Fire Giant is awesome.
