| Nice Overhang on the new Dragons.
I'm kinda tempted to try to snag some of these. I wouldn't mind painting up a couple of blank huges. The Dragons realy ought to have some conversion work done on the bases so Overhang wouldn't be such an issue. Oh yeah, I'm also glad to see they don;t look as bad as the new Green Dragon....

Finally something to look forward to in the new set. I really like the look of the dragons though the white's overhang is just ridiculous while the red's pose would be more fitting for a good dragon.

You rock Ghendar! Thanks!
I am wondering why we're getting a (huge?) Umber Hulk and Carrion Crawler...especially coming so close on the heels of the last ones. And why, oh why are they huge? Is this another WoTC size change? Or perhaps in 4e we're seeing some monsters coming in a few different sizes now? Hmmmmm....

Long live the cylinder!
Seriously, though, the Huge White's wing overhang is on the absurd side; there should be a limit to the amount of overhang. "Minis" on 3-inch bases don't require massive amounts of overhang; they're big enough.Â
If this keeps up, the 2-inch base will become the standard base for medium-sized minis.
I wouldn't want "minis"Â to become "action figures".
Stop the scale-creep madness!
P.S. That cyclone is pathetic. I'm getting worried about AtG. | | Life's a bowl of cultists.... _______________________________ Champion of the Scale-Creep Resistance ________________________ Champion of the Black Pudding | |

:-D
(or do we have a "sunglasses" smiley?)
Anyway - 3.5 had the Truly Horrid Umber Hulk, which was on people's "please give me this wotc" lists at least a year a go. That would explain why it's there now.
The Giant Carrion Crawler is obviously for RPG purposes - they made the variant so people would have more than one Character Level in which to fight them.
The tornado could be a Huge Air Elemental, or it could REALLY be this:

Trifid. First discovered in 1911 by Hiram Bingham in South America, this carnivorous vexing vegetation likes to lie in ambush on forest trails waiting for its unsuspecting prey to approach. It then launches its stinging whorl from the top of its stem, which can be up to 12ft in length, like a whip cracked side ways at its victim's head; there discharging enough poison to kill a large man. Its trap sprung it then lurches its way over to its kill and proceeds to digest, using a shredding motion by way of its stinging tendril to the cup of its stem. Extreme caution: They are notoriously difficult to spot in heavy vegetation are extremely sensitive to sound and vibrations and are uncannily accurate. Some kind of hat may well be in order. http://www.hlbs.co.uk/product.php?id=344 | | Waiting for Chainmail Equivalencies since 2005

They changed the size of booster boxes for DuD. There will likely be a new size/shape box for ATG. The DuD boxes allowed for more overhang. While I have said many times how much I dislike the overhang, the only chance I can have of them listening since they have ignored my comments on multiple occasions is to stop buying cases and only buy singles of ones that aren't overhanging too much.

| Thanks for posting Stephen. We needed some spoilers since WotC is rationing them out like Platinum Pieces.
Fire Giant Raider- looks nice. The sculpt helps to ease some of my fears that were brought on by the Titans.
Enormous Carrion Crawler- Not one of my first choices for sure, but I'll take one nonetheless.
Shadow Hulk- Remains to be seen if the name change will result in a paint change as well. Again, not something I would've chosen for a huge slot, but I'll take one.
Yuan-Ti Anathema- Didn't like the preview and nothing's changed.
Thunderblast Cyclone- Uh...No thanks. If it had been large, it at least could've proxied somewhat for a Phaerimm, but it's just a waste of a slot as is.
Elder White Dragon- I'm not one to complain about overhang, but this is just silly. You could put a Treant between it's base and the wing would overhang it as well.
Elder Red Dragon- This looks like a reasonable overhang to me, though the angle could be hiding a bit. I agree with Michael that the pose looks more like one for a good dragon, but ultimately I'll have to see the paint before deciding if I'll pick one up or continue my futile quest to get one from GoL.

Dave I thought Maxminis spoiler policy had changed since the greenback days. This was my understanding also. According to Host:
Maxminis has a new spoiler policy, as follows:
1) Posted spoilers must appear in a new thread marked with [SPOILER] in the subject line or the mods can delete it. Users have a right to avoid spoiler information if they wish to.
2) If 3 or more mods feel that a supposed spoiler was in fact a clear attempt by a user to mislead the community, they may banish that user from the site or otherwise punish the individual as they see fit.
3) Spoilers are often erroneous in some way.
