http://www.ebay.com/ Why would you want a huge Gold over a brand new size white dragon we have one already!!! Doesn't make any sense. And no the gar and the large is not enough...welcome to RPG. But the huge Red (also already done)was overkill should of been a Blue. New players or not they too need a huge blue.

| Who's Smaug?
Wow, just...wow....
I believe a red dragon is iconic and traditional to all people. Go and ask someone (not DD player) how a dragon looks like. Everyone will tell you it breathes fire and most of them will add that it's red. Red is the colour of the devil, and dragons were seen as forces of the devil some time ago. Plus, it goes well with fire.
I think this is how people see a dragon - like the red version. Claws, this type of wings (so no golden one's wing-like things), horns on head in this position (not like the black one's for example), red, intimidating and fire-breathing.
The Chinese have a red fire-breathing dragon as an important part of their mythology.
A lot of comp games have a red dragon as its "base" dragon, as the first and most traditinal and iconic one.
Well, my idea of a standard dragon is going to go green or brown, so I guess it's just a regional/cultural difference. | | Originally posted by Schooly_D Username - he deals in minis Champion of Lhesh Haruuc Shaarat'kor

Who's Smaug?
Lol. I see Peter Jackson has his work cut out for him in the Czech Republic.
As far as these spoilers go, I am not really liking what I see. I remember when Giants of Legend came out and I was indignant about the nightwalker as fiendish T-Rex as a waste of a huge spot when there were so many good things to chose from.
Then came War of the Dragon Queen and I realized how good we had it with GoL. We have now seen the majority of huge figures in this set and they are looking inferior even to WotDQ. I sold off the majority of my collection and I am now just buying a few of the singles I really like from the set. So far I haven't seen anything that would move me to an Ebay bid. | | Thailfi's Have/Want List Thailfi's References

| | I,m losing all the illusion I used to have before a new D&D release with the last two sets.I do not know if it is because I,m becoming older or dislike the new 2.0 rules but this is my current situation: losing insterest in new sets.I only find clones, clones and more bad clones of old minis we already own tons of them.I know they ,re looking for new customers but...c,mon you can adquire old minis not so hard and there are a lot of main D&D critter that have not appeared yet (mimic, remorhaz, yotchlol, huge green, mountain giant, etc,etc...).There is no need to make the red dragon clone number X.If the clones would be a sculpt improvement at least...but not | | LOVE THIS GIRL | |

I like gold dragons the most, so that's why I want a better looking one. And we already have Icingdeath and that's almost the same thing as another huge one. Also, the availability and price of the old gold one is very unfriendly.

There are plenty of old-timers who don't own the GoL huge red, unless "old-timers" doesn't include people that haven't been collecting DDM for more than four years...
*snip* Yeh, but would you have been upset if it were a huge black, blue or 3.5 green instead of a red? I'm not saying those are bad choices, just not the best choice. The audience they are trying to grab are people familiar with D&D (Thus making red the most iconic) but weren't playing/collecting DDM the first time around, and as such, don't have any DDM, or very, very few. For these players, a Red Dragon will drive sales better than any other. And this year is about acquisiton, they need to grow the player base for the line to continue successfully. Of course, that also means not losing existing players, which is why there's also a Huge white.
You can please some of the people all of the time, or all of the people some of the time. Same thing for minis sets.
You can make some minis in a set for all people, or all minis in a set for some people.
But all the minis in the set can't be made for all people. There's just too much variance.

My only argument is that they had control over this particular variance.
There was no reason, imho, that the red had to be redone over the black, blue or green. Speculation that a huge Red would sell the line better or bring in more revenue is just that - speculation. And if the old players purchase less because of repeats, how is that selling the line better? They're just swapping out players instead of grabbing the larger market. Huge Blue dragon? New players AND old players will buy that... huge Red = a gamble. | | Greyhaze's DDM Spoilers Champion of a Medium Dog & then a Darkenbeast , Raistlin Majere, Nightmare WDQ25/60, Warduke WD60/60, Anti-Champion of Guns, "Knight of Bugbears", and Joke Champion of Venger. On a (slightly) more serious note, I agree. I'd much rather see a Nalfeshnee than another huge good-aligned dragon. I'll take a Huge White, though, and I have no objections to another Huge Red since newer collectors have to shell out absurd amounts for the GoL version.
