| | Top player--it does not show that the top player gets to design a mini. First time I have seen this missing from prizes for winning. | | "Look to God and live." Alma 37:47 Vindicated Champ of Hippogriff (Arcadian Hippogriff) and Uncommon Horse | |

Yeah, I noticed that too. Definitely a bummer, I thought that was the best prize they had.

| | Ian Richards said that the prize of having a chance to make one's own DDM will be given to the Vintage Champion. At the time, they were still unsure if they would give the Standard Champion the same honour. | | Over 270 successful online DDM trades. | |

| Some observations / comments:
1) Fixed maps throughout the Championships AND they are using only those from the new starter set. The Flooded Ruins is an ok map, but IMO should not be used in the Championships.Â
2) Top 50 from Standar, Top 50 from Vintage (which no one is currently playing), all of the Top 2 form Qualifiers, and two Grinders (Top 4) at GenCon.Â
3) Only Top 4 play for the Championship on Sunday. Makes it that much tougher to overcome a bad matchup or die rolls and still make Top 4.Â
4) 6 Rounds on Satruday and 2 Rounds on Sunday before the Top 4. Depending on your record, maybe even no need to play on Sunday. And Sunday will be a long day.Â
5) 75 minute approximate time limit for Top 4. What's up with that.Â

| If there are 96 participants, and no one drops from the higher seeds during play, it's a mathematical certainty that there will be three undefeated players after round 5. That makes the last round on Saturday a bit crazy for the undefeated player who gets paired down. If he loses that match, then his tie-breakers aren't as good as the other two undefeated players.
Still that's only the 6th round. With two more rounds left, things can get really dicey.
It's more than simply possible that, at the end of 8 rounds, with those same 96 starting, we have three players at 7-1, and 11 players at 6-2. That makes things really, really tough on the 10 people at 6-2 who don't make it in.
On the other hand, going with top 4 instead of top 8 means that if you have two losses early, you have no reason to play on Sunday morning, which really cuts down on the judges tasks.
