| I'm expecting we'll see a lot of resculpts for quite a few sets into the next couple of years. There are a lot of minis for 4e that players and DMs will want, and they'll want them to match the new art, and so the skirmishers will just have to deal with that.
Honestly, it doesn't really bother me. From a skirmish perspective, pieces are pieces. From an RPG perspective, I like having variety so I actually like the resculpts.

| I don't mind resculpts so much when they look good, but dross like the recent Ettercap, Gnoll, Orc, Vampire Spawn, Grick, etc. would embarass me to put on the gaming table beside their older counterparts.
Some turn out great, like the Mummy, but it seems that they've been more to the crappy side lately.
Personally, I slightly disagree with Dave on the skirmish aspect. It does have nothing to do with win/lose etc. and maybe a lot of people really don't care what the minis in their warband look like, but I prefer to have better looking pieces on the table in my bands. Not only does it make you look like a hypercool beacon of awesomitudeinousness (tm), but it can catch folks interest that may be passing by.
We were doing some skirmishing to pass a little time at a local Con a while back and this guy asked what we were playing. We were using (and had more on the table) some good looking pieces like Balor, Dragons etc. We taught him to play and after a couple games,  he went and spent like $250 on boosters. He was totally pumped about the game and planned on getting all of his friends to play too. | | The year: 1994. Nice!
I agree with Wraith; I prefer nicer-looking minis when I play. It's not the most important factor, but it can very easily catch other people's interest.

| I agree that for RPG it is much more fun to use 3 different Owlbear sculpts in an encounter with 3 owlbears. I only hope that they looke a bit like the 3.x versions for compatibility.
I hate what they did to the Grick for instance,

Good point. A lot of those minis aren't so happy looking. I really don't like the Mind Flayer Scourge--all the previous Mind Flayers look better to me.Personally, I slightly disagree with Dave on the skirmish aspect. That's why I wear my cool Hawaiian shirt, or carry my pink ribbon line of sight string. If my minis don't look awesome, at least I will.

Win or draw. No-lose situation, to me.

I guess technically, it's really a win/win for me. If they're nice then I want 'em and if not, then I save $. Problem is that I want to spend $ on minis, so my brain turns saving $ into a loss.

Seen it. This thread was started before that list came up. I'm still waiting for the official set list (#, rarity, epic, etc). I think it's about time for some green backs!

Hey man, stop dissing the blue Grick.

Actually, it was kinda disconcerting to see a bright blue Grick; it didn't fit at all with my conception of what a Grick should be.
