Based on all sets released to date I voted for Aberrations.

If I consider only 2.0 sets (including restats), I would have to say Unhallowed.

I have really really enjoed AtG.

Against the Giants, if for now other reason than the quality is so bad that it is totally irrelevant that the selection of monsters is interesting. This set gave us a great wraith + white dragon, a good angel, and a perfectly acceptable cockatrice, but the missed opportunities are overwhelming in comparison...

I hope wizards can somehow find their way back to the quality they delivered with Underdark and Aberrations...

I went with Harbringer, even taking into account that it is the 1st set, but still DDM has come a long way.

Tough call. I didn't like Deathknell, Angelfire or War of the Dragon Queen all that much.

I would add that the earliest three sets (Dragoneye in particular) had some pretty bad paintjobs, as bad Against the Giants. The reason I voted for against the giants is simply that when they've shown what the can do with sets like Underdark...

Wow. Look at the percentage the two most recent sets are getting. Hello people in charge of the game and the minis, take a clue. I voted Dungeon of Dread.

Wardrums! Mainly because of my reaction when I first opened the boosters. It was an extreme MEH for me. There are some good usable figures in the set, but really not many outstanding figures. The Chimera was the top prize from the set and really not much else. Aberrations is up there with it.

I will have do disagree with so many about Against the Giants. Once in hand, I find that there are some really good figures in the set. The Elder White is simply a beauty. And the Elder Red which looks awkward in pictures is really cool when it is in your hand. Also, I am looking for somethng different in monsters. I enjoy the old monsters from 1st Edition, but I appreciate new ones. I have had some really good adventures based around the spawns of Tiamat. I lke the new Earth and Fire Titans, also the Adamantine Dragon.

My intention was to say Against the Giants, since starting from its release I'm officially out of DDM, but I voted for Dungeond of Dread because I don't have any AtG minis in hand (thanks to Dungeons of Dread).

As for those that voted against Harbinger, I think they are simply jealous of not being ale to find any Blackguards for cheap these days :)))

I think there is a certain amount of "time heals all wounds" when looking back at older sets.  IIRC, not many sets have had unabashed love at the time they are released.

Or it may be like the Cinderella song says "You don't know what you got till it's gone".

The only set I ever really griped about until the last couple was Wardrums, and that was because of the paint jobs.

Blood War and Underdark are the only two sets I can think of that received a lot of positive response from the commnity, but even then, there were naysayers.

I usually gripe about particular pieces over entire sets, but the last few sets have really not made me a happy camper.

I went with DuD. The Ascendant Hellsword and the Young Silver Dragon are pretty nice, but other than those two, nothing else inspires me. Aberrations was pretty bad too.

To Nameless: I absolutely agree with you.Except hellsword, silver dragon and lamia I do not find more interesting pieces in DofDread. It is an ugly set with a high amount of bad sculpts/Desings.The paintjob overall is poor/poorest in D&D history and there are tons of resculpted minis we already own and do not need more. The skirmish stas are incredibly bad, making it and almost unplayable set in current tier 1 enviroment. It is,at last, the worst set ever .

After hesitating between harbinger, dragoneye and war drums, I chose war drums. Excepy for a few minis (the hill giants, flameskull, mind flayer, combat medic, chimera, night hag, derro, wight), the set was boring. Useful for newcomers, but boring.

I voted Dungeons of Dread but I think it's really a tie between it and Against the Giants.  There are some good mini's in each set but overall I think the quality of the paint jobs has dropped noticeably.

I have high hopes for the next set but who knows...

Wow. There really is a lot of hate for the two latest sets. The only positive WotC can take from this is lower expectations for upcoming sets. And that's not a good thing.

Not sure about all the hate with AtG except due to I  guess the resculpts and the huge choice.  It is actually pretty nice, As for the previous set....blah!!  Horrible paint and not impressed. It took me till last week to actually oder cases of AtG because I was still worried on how they would look compared to the last set of Desert oif Desolation being so poor.

Is there any website where you can see the sales ration of the last wo sets of WotC? I,m completely convinced these sales have drop dramatically with the last two sets, because I know at least three persons (not including me) who bought complete cases before and now, only buy three or more boosters. The paintjob is very dissapointing

As far as resculpts go, the naysayers had better get used to them. The new systems, 2.0 and 4.0, are designed to pull in new gamers, and those will definitely want the classics that old gamers already have. I for one don't mind resculpts. For one thing, variety is good. Also, some monsters simply need resculpts because the first attempts weren't that successful (I'm looking at you, marilith and manticore).

I think the so-called hate is more a result of the overall quality of the set. I see no improvement from Dungeons of Dread to Against the Giants - even the young red seems to have more shading than the elder red. And what's up with the storm giant thunderer? He looks like the DoD2 grick! Both sets do have a few really goodlooking minis, but too many missed opportunities.

Agree. I like it that I can use 3 different Owlbears in an encounter of 3 Owlbears for instance, makes it easy keeping score of HP and such.

I'm aware of that, and the second one was a slight improvement. But the colour scheme is sub-optimal, underlining the seams rather hiding them. In terms of the sculpt, the illustration in the 4th edition MM shows exactly how a manticore should look in my book. I'd welcome a new sculpt.

I'd rather they not waste the slot and make something new.  Maybe in about 2 yrs I would like to see a retooled manticore sculpt, but not right now.

From a certain perspective DDM 2.0 is only two sets old, neither of which has a manticore. However, and this is a big however,
they seem to be trying out a new technique for sculpting minis, and it's not qute working out for them yet - and until it does, I don't think they should revisit the manticore. So while I want one, I agree - I don't want one right now.

I have less need for two huge red dragon encounters, or eight mind flayers or other of thier recent choices... (and I love mind flayers as a monster)

Though I do like having multples of things like Orcs, Goblins orges, giants etc.

Couple observations.

We've had resculpts since Dragoneye. Seriously. It's just that we want some resculpts over others.

I wonder for those who voted DuD and AtG, how much their opinion is being colored by a hangover from the change to the game itself (this is probably more an observation of the other thread where 50% of the people give AtG a B or better, but 20% give it an F).

It's also curious to me that so many people say AtG is equal or worse than DuD. It appears to me, that, almost exclusively, it is better.

I voted Angelfire. Over time, that one seems to have the least inspired minis overall than other sets. At the very least, it's about the last choice for me when I think of what figures to use in the average situation.

I chose Angelfire as my worst. My preferences come purely from my RPG needs and wants and Angelfire's many good aligned outsiders were all but useless to me in RPG.

My runner up would be WotDQ.

WotC - making me wish more and more every day for a return to the TSR days. :(
