| O.K., here's all of the monsters sized tiny through large in the MM1.
Not included is advanced creatures that don't look significantly
different from the base creature (such as the Mummy/Mummy Lord) or the
example templated creatures (such as the half-black dragon human
fighter). Creatures we've gotten or that I consider "Close Enough For
Government Work" will be Scratched Out. Decent proxies will be italicized. As we get
these creatures
confirmed for future sets, I'll continue to strike them from the list.

| That list is AWSOME. Keep on top of it. If I may make a suggestion though. I think the vermin and thier sizes and the animals should be on the list. If anything Animated Objects should be removed. | Wow, if you remove those which are pretty repetitive or already covered, or not worth covering, that leaves a significantly smaller list, which has some glaring omissions, however, such as most white dragons, hags, mephits, fey and many cool aquatic monsters. But many Monster Manual creatures have indeed been covered:
Angel, Solar; Archon, Lantern; Arrowhawk, Juvenile; Arrowhawk, Adult; Arrowhawk, Elder; Assassin Vine; Barghest, Greater; Basilisk, Abyssal Greater; Blink Dog; Bodak; Chaos Beast; Cloaker; Cockatrice; Darkmantle; Demon, Babau; Demon, Marilith; Demon, Succubus; Devil, Hellcat; Devil, Horned; Devil, Ice; Devil, Pit Fiend; Devourer; Digester; Dinosaur, Deinonychus; Dire Tiger; Doppleganger; Dragon, Tiny Black; Dragon, Large Black; Dragon, Medium Blue; Dragon, Small Green; Dragon, Tiny White; Dragon, Medium White; Dragon, Large White; Dragon, Tiny Brass; Dragon, Small Brass; Dragon, Large Brass; Dragon, Medium Bronze; Dragon, Tiny Copper; Dragon, Medium Copper; Dragon, Large Gold; Dragon, Small Silver; Dryad; Eagle, Giant; Eladrin, Bralani; Elemental, Small Air; Elemental, Small Earth; Elemental, Small Water; Elemental, Large Water; Ethereal Marauder; Formian Worker; Formian Taskmaster; Formian Myrmarch; Formian Queen; Fungus, Shrieker; Fungus, Violet; Genie, Janni; Gnome, Svirfneblin; Gorgon; Guardinal, Avoral; Guardinal, Leonal; Hag, Annis; Hag, Green; Hag, Sea; Hellhound, Nessian Warhound; Hippogriff; Homunculus; Howler; Inevitable, Kolyarut; Inevitable, Zelekhut; Invisible Stalker; Krenshar; Lamia; Lammasu; Lillend; Locathah; Mephit, Air; Mephit, Dust; Mephit, Earth; Mephit, Fire; Mephit, Ice; Mephit, Magma; Mephit, Ooze; Mephit, Salt; Mephit, Steam; Mephit, Water; Merfolk; Mimic; Mohrg; Naga, Guardian; Naga, Spirit; Naga, Water; Nightmare; Nymph; Ooze, Gelatinous Cube; Ooze, Gray; Owl, Giant; Phantom Fungus; Phase Spider; Pseudodragon; Rast; Ravid; Rust Monster; Salamander, Noble; Sea Cat; Shadow; Shadow Mastiff; Shield Guardian; Shocker Lizard; Skeleton, Owlbear; Skeleton, Troll; Skeleton, Chimera; Skeleton, Ettin; Skum; Sphinx, Andro; Sphinx, Crio; Sphinx, Gyno; Sphinx, Hieraco; Spider Eater; Sprite, Grig; Sprite, Nixie; Sprite, Pixie; Swarm, Bat; Swarm, Centipede; Swarm, Hellwasp; Swarm, Locust; Swarm, Rat; Thoqqua; Triton; Wraith; Dread; Xorn, Minor; Xorn, Elder; Yeth Hound; Zombie, Bugbear; Zombie, Gray Render

While it could be many things. It currently is nothing. I think the animated objects could gain a lot by having a good scuplture. A dining room chair that is lunging to get someone would look pretty cool on the game table. Even better: a large aninimated gaming table miniature to put on your gaming table. | | Do you like games John? Absolutely!

| Its interesting to see how just big the list is. But while I like to see a lot of the MM minis being made, its starting to get harder and harder. As we see more products coming out featuring new stuff (some of it cool), and new adventures featuring old minis we already have but are harder to get, its not as easy for them to make all the new MM minis we need. At least thats my opinion.
As long as we get a few each set, I'm pretty happy. | | Champion of a Knight of Takhisis/Knight of Neraka

It would be very easy to have stickied in the RP forum or someplace similar. He (or someone else that was willing to maintain it) could periodically update the list as new sets were released.
I also agree that separating them alphabetically would be helpful. Otherwise, it's a very nice list! | | Have: Cat; Want: Storm Giant Champion of Anything Dragonlance Before trading, please check the Disputed Trades Thread

This was the reason I missed the second listing of the gray render being a Zombie. The "zombie" portion didn't register, just the words, "Gray Render." It all bled together by the end of the list. | | Trade & talk in real time on IRC! SERVER: irc.psionics.net CHANNEL: #maxminis SOFTWARE: PC | PC (free) | MAC

Great job, taliesin! I agree with Count Dooku in that you probably should add all the vermins and animals. But please keep the animated objects in your list. They would make for really cool dungeon dressing if nothing else! Don't you think having huge, gargantuan and colossal creatures in the list as well would make sense? After all, they are producing miniatures of those sizes, too. Knowing what we have and what we could wish for in upcoming products would be equally important for these. Well, that's my take on it, anyway. I would've added Lycanthrope, Hill Giant Wereboar. It doesn't resemble any other creature that much. [:)] All this may come out as negative, but I really appreciate your great list! Well done!
Best regards, oyvind.

| | Good stuff here. This list makes me realize that they're not doing a terrible job of getting the core beasties out to us. The list of covered beasties is larger than I thought. | | You know, I keep thinking that after the new design team gets done with D&D 4e, D&D won't stand for Dungeons and Dragons anymore, because well, that's just not fun. | Moreover, the list of unfinished minis contains a lot of dragons of various sizes, as well as quite a few skeletons and zombies. I've never used a zombie wyvern, doubt its too common an occurance, and sinze zombie is a template, in theory you need a zombie for each corporeal living creature to be complete. I'd settle for uncommon large skeleton/zombie for various sizes.
Shriekers and violet fungi are also virtually identical, so I'd remove shriekers. | | Completed trades: Zarnof, Salmander, Pigsnot, qillan_dvra, SilgentG, Ironfist Boulderbender, robdaman.

I'm really not sure about this analysis. In ten sets, 166 of the list have been crossed off and 148 remain. Another two knowns for Blood War have also been crossed off, taking these numbers to 168 and 146. (Apologies for any mistakes I may have made in arithmetic.)
This might make it seem as though another 10 sets might finish the job. Dig a little deeper and you see that a fairly pathetic 8 have been crossed off in WotDQ (Deinonychus, Small Black Dragon, Large Green Dragon, Small Copper Dragon, Small Fire Elemental, Golden Protector, Nightmare, Stirge) I believe. If that is the new 'norm', then it'll take another 18 sets to cross everything off the list [)].
I'll add two things to that analysis. Some people are bound to feel that producing everything on the list isn't necessary or desirable anyway. (I am not one of those people, though[:D].) As others have pointed out, the animals and vermin are not on the list - and the situation is massively worse there (no beetles, centipedes, small dogs, etc.) | | Champion of the Bodak.Knight of the Aboleth.Squire of Gnomes. Just make sure to avoid storing your minis in a cool, dark environment [:D]
Nice list. The paragraph block format was about impossible to read. The new format is very streamlined and easy on the eyes [^]
10 sets to finish the MM1 = ~3 years 18 sets to finish the MM1 = ~6 years
I'd guess that 18 sets seems somewhat likelier. Considering the scope of things to cover, I'd say we've seen a pretty good scope of coverage (except for mephits). | | Knight Warlord a.k.a. If that is the new 'norm', then it'll take another 18 sets to cross everything off the list [)].
I'll add two things to that analysis. Some people are bound to feel that producing everything on the list isn't necessary or desirable anyway. (I am not one of those people, though[:D].) As others have pointed out, the animals and vermin are not on the list - and the situation is massively worse there (no beetles, centipedes, small dogs, etc.)
The 'not doing a terrible job' should not be confused with a good or excellent job. And I am still of the opinin that the list is longer than I had thought it would be. [)] | | You know, I keep thinking that after the new design team gets done with D&D 4e, D&D won't stand for Dungeons and Dragons anymore, because well, that's just not fun. It's old and stuffy. - Originally Posted by BabWryter on Kenzerco.com

By popular demand, animals have been added, with strikes through those we basically have (lion and dire lion are both the same size, fer instance). I'll add the vermin when I have time later.
Thank you for adding animals and vermin. I do not agree however in crossing out animals we "Basically have". By that logic we could have crossed off Wolf if we got a Worg or crossed off Winter Wolf when we got a Dire Wolf.
Please dont cross off Apes and Lions until we really get them.
And I personally wouldnt cross off Nightmare and Deinonychus until we get regular unmounted ones...But I guess thats debatable. :(

Please don't do that - they are quite different, and it's not as if we've been overburdoned with fungus [)].
They LOOK exactly the same though, thus no need for a different figure. You may as well request a separate figure for an orc with an axe who enjoys playing scrabble and his identical twin who hates scrabble. If theres no visual difference, they can be covered by the same figure.
There comes a time to accept something thats "close enough for government work". If we have a large ape, it counts as a dire ape and a regular ape in my book. At the very least, it should be LOW LOW priority before other creatures with unique appearances in the various monster manuals if we are just trying to get 1 of everything. | | Completed trades: Zarnof, Salmander, Pigsnot, qillan_dvra, SilgentG, Ironfist Boulderbender, robdaman.

The same could be said of Ghouls and Ghasts...Yet there are still MANY people on these boards who stubbornly say the Harbinger Ghoul is the only Ghoul that we have and the Ghast is not a resculpt.
I say let both be listed for completion's sake. | | Champion of the Skulk Vindicated Champion of the Twig Blight

| Oh not to be a pain..but one more thing...There are Aquatic Ghouls (Lacedons), Aquatic Ogres (Merrow), Aquatic Trolls (Scrags) and I think even Aquatic Gargoyles (dont remember) that are mentioned in the Monster Manual. They arent statted out because stats are the same but they are physically different.
They really should be added to the list. | | Champion of the Skulk Vindicated Champion of the Twig Blight

| For formatting, I would recommend using the strikeout like you have done only for miniatures that we have gotten an exact match for, and then use a different format for creatures that we have received a workable proxy for (i.e., Huge Black Dragon, nightmare, etc.) like making the text a different color.
Or alternatively, you could do a strikethrough in black to indicate that the mini is an exact match and a strikethrough in red to indicate that we sort of have the mini available.

| I would also like to see this same thing done with all of the other books that contain monsters so that we can monitor the progress on those books as well. MM2, MM3, MM4, Fiend Folio, Minatures Handbook, etc.
I would volunteer to maintain lists for these if taliesin does not care to do so. | | KD Minister of Economy, Organizer of The Maxminis Red Paper Clip Project Champion of: Aspect of Blibdoolpoolp Miniatures Lists "I *am* a third-party company." Respect! I once thought to do the same, but got tired after just doing the MM. Would like to see it done properly though.

| Still none crossed off my list of wants:
Blink Dog Blink Dog pose #2 Blink Dog pose #3
What? Just because I really want Mephits, Phase Spiders and those little rabbits with the horns on their heads, doesn't mean they're making my list.[:D] | | Never teach a pig to sing. It's a waste of time and it annoys the pig.

| Vermin now added.
I decided to strike Lions because we have Dire Lions (etc) because I have to draw a line somewhere when it comes to figure purity. Otherwise, our Fiendish Giant Praying Mantis wouldn't count as a Giant Praying Mantis, since the mantis in the MM1 doesn't have a template applied to it in the book.

I dunno..I still think theres a big difference betwen a regular animal and a Dire Animal compared to a monster and the same monster with a template. But its your list.
Thanks for adding the vermin :) Now dont forget to add the 4 aquatic varients! :) | | Champion of the Skulk Vindicated Champion of the Twig Blight

| Yes, many thanks!
The reformatting helps immensely.
If you're still looking for a way to differentiate between "close" and "spot on" (except for templates), I would recommend italics for things that we have that are very close (like Lion/Dire Lion) but not really matches. I would still strikethrough things like the Fiendish Giant Praying Mantis.
