After some discussion, we decided a companion thread to the MMT would be nice, where each recipient could relate what goodies they got from the Big Mystery Box. However, I will keep the current contents of the box unspecified, and only list stuff I took out, with some vague hints to what's in it now.

Having received the MMT 06 from Qucalion of Celene, I snagged:

3 Uncommon DDM minis
2 Uncommon DDM promos
12 common DDM minis
1 Special Repaint by QC.
1 Golden protector Epic card

1 Copy of Doors to the Unknown (2nd ed Planescape adventure)
1 Copy of Player's Primer to the Outlands (2nd ed PS sourcebook)
1 Copy of "The Crypt of St Bethesda", cheapo adventure from AEG
1 copy of "Living Greyhawk: Kingdom of Furyondy"

1 RPGA form (which I may actually use... )
1 Pack of assorted touristy goodies from Utah

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

All in all, this was a good haul. I love PS stuff, so those were winners. The minis were commons and uncommons from the latest few sets, so I took a few I wanted to for RP reasons.

And now... Rakhamon's MMT teasers.

I put into the Box:

20+ common DDM minis
11 Uncommon DDM minis
1 VERY special Wrackspawn repaint (The Rakspawn!)
Rpg books, magazines and fiction!
Promotional stuff!
Silly stuff!

That's about as detailed as I'll get here. Yes, I did stuff some extra Dwarf Raiders and Wrackspawn in there, but in -addition- to the minis I replaced minis I took out. They're there as a "bonus".

Hope this satisfies ckissee's curiosity...

Rak

Just so that you undestand . . . it is up to you what you take out and put in. If you get some RPG Books . . . you don't have to put an RPG book in to replace it, but you do have to put in something of comparable value.

Not to burst the bubble of excitement here. As noted by Kithmaker, the crystal ball sees potential issues.

Shipping overseas is one(revisited later), it's also tied into reason number 2.

The second is this:
Are you guys keeping track of who sends what where? The reasoning for this is as follows....trader "A" takes a DDM book, adds a common or two perchance to lessen shipping costs for themselves.
I am not saying any user would do such a dastardly thing. The potential is there.

1st reason revisited: The size of the box + cost of shipping. A concern for those on a budget.

Overall sounds like fun if handled properly.
BTW is there a "pilot" for this. The old "Around the World Box" had a pink pilot. IIRC.

Sorry if I coming across as a nanny type, am just pointing out things that may come to pass..

Good luck.

The shipping overseas was something that had been foreseen previously.  Which is why I put it in the rules that to join, you have to understand that you may have to ship overseas.  It is also why I sent to Rakhamon first, with him being in Sweden and all.

Tracking what goes in and what comes out, wasn't my idea.  Although it would be fun to figure out what is making it's way around the world, it's not imperative to do so.  Which is the reason I didn't list the items I sent to Rakhamon.

As for what people exchange, that is entirely up to them.  The value or equivalency of an item is subjective.  I put in a couple books I knew Rak was looking for, and thought I made it clear that they were his separate from the MMT.  As for the other items, the idea is to exchange it for something that is equivalent.  If there is a book in there, that you take out, you an put in something "equivalent".  For example:

If I get the MMT and contained therein was a copy of the Alternity Gamma World book.  I take the book, but I havn't any other books to replace it with.  So, I add in some more Miniatures.  I put in some tasty D&D Miniatures, and some Dreamblade, and MechWarrior.  And I add in some fuzzy dice (I hope they were originally fuzzy not left in the fridge for too long).Â

This example is just an idea of what "equivalent" might mean to me.  The idea is that everyone replaces something they take with something that would be enjoyed the same (or more).

As for being a nanny type, go ahead.  But can you do that "Teaspoon of Sugar" song.  I love that.

I can wait until it gets to me.  But then, I have no choice.  I will be the last on the list.Â

He who is first the same shall aslo be last.  Or something like that.

Just for the record, I would definately have participated if we kept it from international shipping costs. Paying 5$ shipping is one thing, paying 20-30$ it not cool in my books.

Do we even have any international participants besides myself?

I understand the dislike of the heavy shipping costs overseas, which I why I took the first overseas package myself.  I also didn't want to exclude our fellow gamers overseas.  Unfortunately that meant excluding many who are living on a limited budget.Â

I think there is room for improvement, and once the 2006 edition of the Magical Mystery Trade nears completion, we'll see how we can improve the 2007 edition.  Like maybe have a North American version and an Overseas version? And maybe have them cross over at some point?

I would like to think that the fun of this project is worth the extra few dollars to put into it.  But I do understand between a few dollars and a fistfull of dollars when shipping overseas.

Would you think it too early to start working on the 2007 Edition?

I don't think it would be too early to start a 2006 America Edition. Maybe once it works it's way back around to you Quca, you can swap the previous World Tour Edition going through America. Or something like that.

That might be a good idea.  Once it gets to me, send it to the NA Edition.

It teases my curiosity more than satisfies...

I'm very interested to know the specifics of the U/C/promo, and especially the QC repaint.

I would also say it's a timeframe problem, as well as tracking issues/ lost mail.

The best bet would be organizing the countries so it circulated, but that seems like quite a bit of organizing.
