| Ladies and Gentlemen! Drow and Kobolds! Paladins and Everyone Else!
Presenting the 2007 Magical Mystery Trade!
The premise is to send a box of miscellaneous gaming goodies to the next person on the list. They don't know what they're getting, but they'll be excited when they open the box and see what you've put in.
Here's how it works:
The first person on the list fills a box with some miscellaneous gaming stuff they have sitting around the house. These could be books, figures, dice, whatever. This will also include a personally repainted D&D Miniature. They take the box to the post office and send it to the next person in line.Â
Person #2 gets the package and takes what they want in it and replaces it with an equal number of items, plus anything they want to add, INCLUDING a personally repainted figure. They in turn send it to the next person on the list.
And so on . . . and so on . . . and so on . . .
Here's some rules:
1. YOU MUST replace what you take. You take out three items, you MUST put in three items of a similar type. You can add in more, but not less.
2. YOU MUST also place in a personally repainted figure. Not one of the official replaints, but one you did yourself. Even if it's a wrackspawn ghost, or a "cyber-hyena". Don't forget the card!
3. YOU MUST conform to the local postal laws (i.e., no dangerous or corrosive items, etc.)
4. NO Bad Traders. If you have bad or unresolved trades, or will, you will not be allowed to participate.
5. NO JUNK. Yes, "junk" is relative, but it has to have some value.
6. YOU MUST set up a trade with the next person on the list so you will know when the package has been sent and when it has been received. Be sure to include your mailing address!
7. ONLY NORTH AMERICAN traders. I'm sorry for all overseas members, but if there is enough interest overseas, then I'll see about an International version. ÂTHIS IS RECINDED SINCE THERE ARE THOSE WILLING TO SHIP OVERSEAS. IF YOU ARE LIKEWISE WILLING TO SHIP OVERSEAS, PLEASE LET ME KNOW.
8. MAXIMUM SIZE for the box is 8"x11"x5". This will help cut down on the shipping costs to some degree.
Sign up now for the Magical Mystery Trade!
It will blow you away!!!!!!!

| | Okay, I'll join in. I'm a bit apprehensive about painting a miniature (never done it before), but I'll give it a try. I guess I better start thinking about what to paint and how to paint it so I don't get caught by surprise when I have the package coming to me. | Yeah, I've never painted a mini either. Well, never one that had that stuff sprayed on it so the paint looks kinda glossy and would keep the paint on longer but I'll try to get ahold of some of that stuff. What's it called, anyway? Anywhoo, I've got plenty of ideas to paint, not a heck of a lot of time to do it. Better get started! | | Champion of the Prismatic Golem

I'm a really bad at painting mini's (Or anything else I suppose) but I'll do what I can.
I think that this is a cool idea and I hope it doesn't get derailed again. | | Champion of Gromph Baenre | |

After it ended up as a disputed trade for some time, DJ Chuckles just sent it back to Qucalion. I don't know if it could fit in, but I wouldn't mind shipping to you if QC decides to open it up. | | The year: 1994. | A couple of questions, if you will:
1) Can someone else's repaint be taken? (of course, with the replacement rule not having any changes)
2) Exactly how far on the replacement rule does it get to the "it's not fair for anyone else" sort of scenario? For example, although I would of course never do anything even somewhat like this (I sure as heck am not going to ruin the spirit of such a good-intentioned event), but for clarification purposes:
If Person A puts in a Balor (fat chance, but work with me, people), is there going to be firm rules to be in place so Person B doesn't just replace something like this by randomly throwing in a Flameskull or something? | | Champion of the Prismatic Golem

| 1) Can someone else's repaint be taken? (of course, with the replacement rule not having any changes)
The idea is to take the repaint, then replace it with a repaint of your own.
It's up to each person to decide. It's a leap of faith to trust people on this.
Using your example, Person A sends a Balor to Person B. They have the choice of 1) leaving the Balor for the next person or 2) taking the Balor and putting something of equal value or 3) taking the Balor and putting in crap.
I don't want to see 3 happen, but it might. I don't want to see 1 happen too much, but it might.
2, however is up to interpretation. If, for example, the aforementioned Balor arrived at Person B's mailbox. He or she might take it, and the other items there and replace them all with miniatures with greater value than was taken, other than the Balor . . . So that the overall value is roughly equal. Or they can put in some extra goodies for the next person.
The final word for this, is to try and be fair and open about the MMT. Use your fair judgement.Â

| QC,  I might be interested. I currently only have completed trades here on maxminis. I have had several mini purchases from several people on these boards. If you are concerned about that (especially after what happened last time) I am happy to bow out.Â
I also have a couple of questions to ask.
Is it going to be minis only?
Last time you talked about including books. This would make it expensive for me as I am in Australia and the only other person from Australia at the moment is QD. If it is minis only then I don't have a problem with it. If it is books as well then I'd have to think about it.
I just thought of another possible solution to my shipping costs if it will include books. Bert the Troll lives in Adelaide as well. I could forward the package on to him (or vice versa) and we could split the shipping costs between us. I haven't asked him about it yet so he might not be interested but he might be. I have met and gamed with him before so we're not complete strangers.

Olaf the Stout Olaf,
I plan on grouping the international trades so it would be somewhat cheaper for them overall.Â
As for the number of trades, if Bert the Troll can vouch for you, then you're in.Â
As for books, I think we'll discourage books, at least for overseas. We're going to try and keep it light and simple.
