Presenting the 2008 Magical Mystery Trade!
The premise is to send a box of miscellaneous gaming goodies to the next person on the list. They don't know what they're getting, but they'll be excited when they open the box and see what you've put in.
Here's how it works:
The first person on the list fills a box with some miscellaneous gaming stuff they have sitting around the house. These could be books, figures, cards, dice, whatever. This will also include a personally repainted D&D Miniature. They take the box to the post office and send it to the next person in line.
Person #2 gets the package and takes what they want in it and replaces it with an equal number of items, plus anything they want to add, INCLUDING a personally repainted figure. They in turn send it to the next person on the list.
And so on . . . and so on . . . and so on . . .
Here's some rules:
1. YOU MUST replace what you take. You take out three items; you MUST put in three items of a similar type. You can add in more, but not less.
2. YOU MUST also place in a personally repainted figure. Not one of the official repaints, but one you did yourself, even a “wrackspawn ghost” or "cyber-hyena".
3. YOU MUST not forget the stat card for the aforementioned personally repainted figure!
4. YOU MUST autograph the aforementioned stat card for the aforementioned personally repainted figure.
5. YOU MUST photograph the aforementioned aforementioned personally repainted figure and post it for all to oooh and ahh. Or get someone to post it for you.
6. YOU MUST conform to the local postal laws (i.e., no dangerous or corrosive items, etc.)
7. NO Bad Traders. If you have bad or unresolved trades, or will, you will not be allowed to participate.
8. NO JUNK. Yes, "junk" is relative, but it has to have some value.
9. YOU MUST set up a trade with the next person on the list so you will know when the package has been sent and when it has been received. Be sure to include your mailing address!
10. YOU MUST include your Country and State (or province, region, etc.) so I can group you with others in your region.IF YOU ARE WILLING TO SHIP OVERSEAS, PLEASE LET ME KNOW.
11. MAXIMUM SIZE for the box is 8"x11"x5". This will help cut down on the shipping costs to some degree.
12. YOU MUST post what you have recieved in the MMT, but not what you have taken or placed therein.
13. REGISTRATION will CLOSE on July 1st, 2008. This, hopefully, will enable the Magical Mystery Trade complete by the end of the year.

I might be able to ship overseas, but can't commit for sure until I find out what our new commission stucture will be on the 15th after the Manager's meeting. My wife is still not happy about the $38 it cost me to send this years to Australia.

Probably a bit too late for rules ideas, but what the heck. Would it maybe be feasible tohave the contents a separate thread with only posts of the contents posted in a thread by themselves so it wouldn't be inadvertently viewed by those who don't want to know what to expect (like me  I don't know about everyone else, but having no clue what was going in and out and no expectations whatsoever made it even more fun for me and really built my expectations.

Nope, not too late on the rules ideas.
I definitely agree on the MMT contents being in a separate thread.
As for posting what is removed, or what is included, we can still discuss that up until the time the first MMT08 goes out (early January 2008).

It's right there in black and white. It's not only those that are confirmed bad traders reported in the "official" list, but those who exhibit tendencies indicative of bad traders.
I look at it that when the MMT hangs up like with djchuckles and apparently now with turt, then it not only affects the next person in line, but also those who follow him and/or her. I think this has a greater responsibility than does a standard trade.
I would like to give lyus the benefit of the doubt. I consider him a friend. However, I cannot allow special treatment because of that.
I can, however, put him on "probation", since he has had a previous history of good trading. What this means is that he has between now and the close of registration of MMT08 to 'get his act together'.
This also means, that once you are on the list, you can and will be removed for bad trading practices.
Furthermore . . . and I will shout this out
IF YOU CANNOT FULFILL YOUR OBLIGATIONS DO NOT SIGN UP!
I would like this to be fun for everyone and keep the frustations where they belong . . . with our respective mail services and not each other.
