Well I was hopiong to get some advice on the best way to sell my collection. Considering that the the people surfing/posting on these boards are informed sources I was hoping to get a brief do's and donts list as well as pricing info.

Not sure what size of collection you have. If you are more specific about what you're selling the more exact advice you'll receive.

Some general tips:

Selling your collection in smaller lots or singles will net you more $ but take more effort.

As for prices, check what other sellers in this forum are selling their figures for. Check completed auctions on ebay. Zenako's price list on this forum is a very useful guide. Keep in mind that this list (I believe) is derived primarily from online sellers who ask more than ebay. I find that prices on this forum are more in line with ebay.

I will be the first to offer the comedy option of: Just send them all to me!!

Sorry, it seems that it has to be done.. and better me than someone who wouldnt just sell them all for you and send you part of the money or something

I have about 100 rares ranging mostly from giants and up. I have traded well and aimed my collecting at tournement level and high priced models....ie FB's archmages, anything you'd build a band around to win a tourney...more or less....

My majior area of curriosity is it better to sell off the rares individually or package everything together. Individually packing and shipping 1000 or so models seems way too much like work.

I'll post a general list of my models within a few days. Whats the best thing to do with uncommons? Do they have any real value if their not from harbringer or archfiends?

I resent that Implication! I would never post without adding something vital to a thread! You have tarnished my honor and I challange you to.. um.. pistols at dawn? no.. too early. Um. Swords at Noon? nevermind.. I have a conflict then.. Vassal on Tuesday?

seriously tho.. I would either sell them off as lots (All your models from one set) - maybe hit a few of the nicer pieces as individual sales or, alternatively, the whole bunch of them as one massive sale for a reasonable price. You wont get nearly as much money if you sell them as blocks vs Singles - but its alot easier on you and your postal carrier. Tho honestly, if you have templates for the shipping addresses and can keep good records, selling the rares off as singles would be the best profit for you.

A few rules of thumb...

Large multihundred mini collections tend to end up selling for between 35% and 50% of the price guide values total. So for example if you totaled up all the individual value and got $3000 for the lot, then you could expect to sell the whole lot from between and $1000 and $1500 or so.

EBAY prices for singles and small groups tend to be about 50% to 66% of the Guide prices (with some occasional excursions obviously).

Complete sets have consistently sold for about 50% +/- 5% of price total for that sets summed value of the individual minis in the guide. This is based on literally hundreds of sets sold on EBAY over the past couple of years.

Commons and uncommons (except for a select elite few) are generally most succesfully sold if either in A) large lots, or B) medium sized lots with a focus. Paying a few bucks for shipping for a $20 rare is one thing, but paying that same shipping charge for $0.59 cent mini tends to put off many bidders.

There are a few minis which break the pricing mold and get hot on EBAY for whatever reason. Currently Drizzt is often going for over $50 in auctions, and the LSD did that last fall. A year ago the Thayan Knight was often topping $20 or more, but can be had for less than half that now. If you want to purely maximize total dollars then you need to go the singles route and selectively offer the "hot" minis at any given time and not pay to offer those that will only sell at a level to cover costs and not much more.

Good luck...

Built the addition for this addiction, now on to the "gaming table" project....
