As far as your prices and shipping go, I think it's easier for buyers to have a standard shipping charge and adjust for heavier minis in the price. Your way should work okay, just be ready for an occassional problem with a buyer trying to calculate it themselves and coming up with a different amount.
Also, you might want to include details of how combined shipping will work for priority mail and Canadian orders, since the eBay calculation will result in high amounts for a larger number of purchases from multiple auctions.
One other thing to keep in mind is that if you recieve payments via Paypal, you can print electronic shipping labels with free or reduced price delivery confirmation. It would be a hassle to try to tie the charge to payment method, so I used to include it in the shipping charge at a reduced rate, figuring that at least half of my buyers would probably pay with paypal (in my experience, it's actually a much higher percentage). It can help to reduce your shipping cost a bit.

comments...contradictory info regarding shipping. For example in your Balor posting your text mentions the $1.50 discount for each auction, but the shipping text at the bottom of the page indicates an increment of $.25 for each additional item.
I have run into issues with buy it now options from some sellers. If I choose to purchase 2 minis from a single BIN offering is that one auction or two with respect to shipping charges? If you have 10 of the mini available and I want to buy all ten at once, is that 1 auction for a single increment of shipping charges or is it 10 auctions.
Same deal when looking at your commons and the discount vs fixed added fee per item.
I second the suggestion to ignore the weight differences for any mini that is not huge and just have a flat per item shipping charge past the first one. Perhaps have a sliding scale like...
$2.00 base shipping (lower than many right now)
+$.25 for each for additional minis 2 thru 9, and $0.10 for minis from 10 to 69 and no charge after that with a shipping cap of $10.00
If someone is really buying a lot, you can use Flat Rate Priority shipping for $8.10 ($8.60 with DC), and that gives you a box that measures 8 1/2 x 11 x 5 1/2 inches (inside) and whose weight is essentially unlimited. I have used that to send over 200 minis at a time, where the weight has gotten well over a number of pounds. Boxes are free at the PO.
Sure some people might only buy a mini or two, but I know I often hit stores like this and clean them out of various minis I want to take advantage of any bulk shipping discounts that they offer. | |

the way ebay list the items is the problem it think. each item is a auction(BIN) if you get more of that item (more then 1 of that single BIN offering) you get the base shipping of that item + the extra for each mini. If you add another item the base gets the discount then the next items in that same offering get the + shipping amount. This is how I understood this to work, but I could be wrong as I have never done this before. With the shipping being "contradictory" I will have to lookinto a way to fix it.

| | Just a comment -- I just browsed through your Ebay store and while it seems okay, I don't think you're going to top Auggie's any time soon, just because Auggie's has one shipping price. Yes, technically it's cheaper to buy one mini from you than from Auggie's, but most people buy more than one, and nobody likes having to mentally add .25 to the price of each thing they see. I'd highly recommend just charging 3.50 for shipping like they do, and slightly increasing pricing on the few Huges left to compensate for the increased packages costs that those will incur. | |
