| Have/Want List, Trade List, and Reference List Icons and Links
A Link to your H/W List is present in every single post you make! Look for the icon. Once you have found your reference thread URL, go into your profile and add it under Links as Trade References. After you have done this, you will have another icon next to the H/W icon that looks like this:
Finding the URL for your h/w list, ref list, etc... Use the "open in new window" feature of your internet browser to open your h/w list, ref list, etc. (In Internet Explorer, this is right-click, open in new window). You can also Right-Click and choose either Copy Shortcut (IE) or Copy Link Location (FireFox).
The address bar should now list the exact location of the thread you wish to link to. For example, this thread is "http://www.maxminis.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=518".
Alternatively, for h/w lists, simply use "http://www.maxminis.com/hwlist.asp?user=kestrel.ca" and replace kestrel.ca with your own user name.
To use a link to compare two users (useful in trade offers/negotiations) use "http://www.maxminis.com/hwlist.asp?user=FIRST&user2=SECOND." Make sure to replace FIRST and SECOND with valid user names.
PS: Thanks Kestrel.ca!
Edit: After posting this I have add the ever popular semi-automated trade tracking system. You can find and view another user's (or your own) trade list by clicking on the icon . To link directly to a trade list, simply type a URL like this: http://www.maxminis.com/trade/default.asp?user=jai and replace my handle (Jai) with the user you want to view.

| Reposting of NYCFarmkid's reposting of Sparkytb's post (if it was actually NYCFarmkid and not a glitch [)])
***Guide to signature formatting V1.0*** ======================================== by sparkytb Created: 4/7/2004
To modify your signatures appearance, be it font size, colour or alignment on screen, you will need to use HTML tags. Below is a list of the different tags that can be used to format your signature...
* [ size="Type size number here" ] [ /size="Type size number here" ] * [ url="Type link url here" ] Linked text here [ /url ] * [ url="mailto:enter email address here" ] Linked text here [ /url ] * [ b ] [ /b ] * [ center ] [ /center ] * [ color ] [ /color ]
One important thing to remember with tags, always close the tags in the order that they were opened. i.e. [ b] [ size=2] [ /size=2] [ /b]
Firstly, the size tag. The average size of signature text should be size 2. It is still readable and saves space. In order to use the size tag, simply do the following:
1. Open the tag by typing [ size=2] in front of the text that you want to be formatted. *Note - Don't put a space in between the [ and size=2 otherwise the tag won't work. This applys to all tags. The space is there merely for display purposes. (Otherwise the tags won't be displayed so you won't know what to type ) 2. Close the tag at the end of the text you want to format by typing [ /size=2] (Remember, don't include the space...)
Next is the URL link tag. Normally, if you type in the URL link for a web address into your signature, the address text will display and should open the web address when clicked. This is fine when using short addresses but when a really long adress is used, space is wasted. To link the address to specific text, do the following: 1. Type [ url="Type link url here" ] (Make sure that the inverted commas are included in this tag and that Type link url here is replaced with the actual URL) 2. After that type the text that you what the URL to be linked to. i.e. my haves/wants list 3. Then close the tag by typing [ /url] after the text in step 2. So your tag should look similar to this - [ url="http://www.samplelink.com/link1.html" ] This is my link [ /url] or when correctly done, without the spaces, This is my link. And remember, don't include the spaces between the [ and the tag text.
Next is the email address tag. If you want to include a link to your email address in your tag, do the following: 1. Type [ url="mailto:enter email address here" ] Make sure to include the inverted commas. 2. Now type the text that you want your email address to be linked to i.e. Email me 3. Now close the tag by typing [ /url] So your email tag should look similar to this - [ url="mailto:fake@email.com" ]Email me[ /url] or when done correctly, without the spaces, Email me
And now comes the bold tag. If you want a specific piece of text to stand out you can use the bold tag or the color tag. To use the bold tag, do the following: 1. Type [ b] infront of the text that you want to make bold. 2. Close the tag by typing [ /b] after the text that is going to be bold.
The center tag is good for making your signature look more neater and well laid out. To use the center tag, do the following: 1. Type [ center] in front of the text that you want centered. By default, text is left-aligned. You can also replace center with right if you want your text to be right-aligned. 2. Close the tag by typing [ /center] after the text you are centering. (Remember, don't include the spaces)
And last but not least is the color tag. Colors are great for highlighting specific parts of you signature. To use the color tag, do the following: 1. Type [ "the color that you want your text to be" ]in front of the text that you want colored. Simply replace the text in the inverted commas with the color that you want the text to be. i.e. red Don't include the inverted commas. 2. Close the tag by typing [ /"the color that you want your text to be" ] Again, replace the text in the inverted commas with the color you want your text to be and don't use the inverted commas. So your color tag should look like this - [ red ]This text is red[ /red ] or when done correctly, without the spaces, This text is red
That is the basics of what you will need to know in order to format your signature text.

| Linking to images and uploading them to be linked. 1. Upload the images to an online repository. In order to share the images with other people they have to reside on a server accessible by everyone online. Unfortunately, this means that they can't simply be saved on your hard drive. Fortunately for you, maxminis member galneweinhew has provided an easy way to upload images on his personal site. Here's the link... http://happyhikers.ca/OtherStuff/maxminisPictureHosting.php
2. Once you have the images posted online, you'll need the URL/address of where they reside. If you've used galnewienhew's site as noted above, your image file will be listed here in alphabetical order (http://happyhikers.ca/OtherStuff/PictureUploads/). Find your file in the list and click on the link. The URL/Address will be listed in your web browsers address box. You can copy it from there.
3. To post your image, just use the IMG tag. It should look like this when you're done [ img ]http://happyhikers.ca/OtherStuff/PictureUploads/YourFile.jpg[ /img ]. (Note that for it to actually work, you would remove the spaces from the IMG tags.
PS: Thanks Lalato! | | | |

| URL Formatting Formatting URLs are really easy once you have done it. To have a url show up, simply type it: http://www.google.com However, as many folks have noticed, adding links to things on sites like eBay can be very unsightly. To reduce this nuisance, please format your links so that the url is hidden and a title is displayed.
Instead of: http://www.google.com Try: [url="http://www.google.com"]Google[/url] Resulting in: Google
