| Now that I can have joined the ranks of those people allowed to have custom avatars, I have been trying to get it to work, I upload my new avatar and it says everything is fine, I select custom avatar, but it still shows my old pic, I go to upload my new avatar again and when the new window first opens it says that there was a problem loading my custom avatar, but then the pic shows up.
Not sure what I need to do.

| Generally, I've found that you need to use the link that the popup provides to go back and browse the forums.
The configuration is all off and it isn't the easiest to navigate, but once I've gone in and looked at my profile or looked at a thread with one of my posts, I find my new avatar is in place.
1. Profile
2. Upload your custom avatar in the popup
3. After your new avatar is loaded, use the link "Return to Forums?" from the popup window.
4. Poke around (go to Members and look at your own profile, look at a thread where you've posted, etc.) and verify your new avatar
I don't know how much steps 3 and 4 REALLY have to do with the process, but it seems that if I don't follow them, the new avatar won't take. | |

Avatars are displayed at 96x96, but the more important thing is to have your image be square so that it isn't being scaled to a different aspect ratio. | | | |

No, cache is the term for all the files stored on your computer when you visit the same site over and over allowing you to not have to download all the images and such every single time. Cookies are settings that let the server remember you. They are different, but sometimes grouped together by users *and* browsers if you don't look carefully. | | | |
