Those of us who are regular visitors know there are some issues right now with MaxMini's, but those who are here less frequently, or those who are new may not.
Could one of you PLEASE post a "State of the Site" kind of thread, and get everyone onto the same playing field? DJ just got kicked for a day, Pictures are getting yanked, and there are a BUNCH of hints about people potentially getting their accounts locked.
I understand why, but perhaps a clear explanation about why the draconian actions are necessary would keep the tension down...

Ok, by "draconian actions" you mean "hardcore lockdown"? (I know nothing about Draconians). I have also been away for about a week or so, so i am not fully up to speed. I know this about signatures: I sent an email to all with images in sigs asking to double check and make sure the images were either set icons or something just as small (and just as few). After a couple of weeks, many folks had not heeded that email, so i asked another mod to try their hand at asking the folks. Granted most folks were within limits, but a large number were not.
Edit: The signature lengths of some folks are just getting ridiculous. | | | |

There have been several posts by you, merric and Chris, all mentioning suspension of posting privledges for violating protocol guidelines (as opposed to profanity, flame wars et al).
I have no problem with policing the site, and maintaining standards, but there is a definate appearance that there is a "problem" underneath the boards (as it were) that could cause the place to collapse.
My point was that it would be good if there was a stickied thread, likely in this forum, that people could be pointed to as why certain things are going on (site upgrades, performance, standards, etc.). It "could" help calm the masses.

Understood. To be honest, other than slow downs due to an oversized database, nothing has changed structurally. We mods are clamping down either to more time to devote to the chore (we have been lax for awhile), or a desire to try and curb database size until we get that situated. Until somebody hears/says otherwise that is about all i know about. | | | |

Regarding the set icons you mentioned, I remember you giving it an ok but we are getting a profound NO from others and now you say OK again, so it is a bit confusing for some of us...granted I have cleaned my signature out but the fact remains that UPDATED guidelines and an unified front would help us greatly before we get zapped for over a conflict of mandates.

Put me down as a vote for this as well. I don't honestly care if we can have images, or smiles, or even signatures for that matter (OK I might care about that last one [)]) But just something that all the mods have agreed on and for that matter voiced their agreement on it would help to fix whatever it is Im voting to fix (I forgot already...Im getting old).
And Im also in agreement with Pat. Understandably that things are being cracked down a smidge because of database issues. But it almost just seems like the Maxminis community has gone and pissed off a mod or two and we don't even know it :lol: (I know thats not the case, but it seems that way) | |

| | I think what happened, is that while i approved smilies and set icons, when my successor in the image handling department took over, it was a matter of the few going beyond that causing all the suffer from the "no image fairy". Unfortunately i have been too busy lately to sit down and chat with the other mods about this and other issues. Hopefully we can get things ironed out soon though. Sorry for any confusion. | | | |
