| Don't misunderstand me, I'm very anxious to get to 2.0! And I'm sure I'll adjust (or find ways to adjust) in a rather short period of time.
It's just that I've seen a few "down" comments on snitz, and I wanted to point out that it had its advantages, too. I think that most of the folks in this area are probably pretty "up there" in terms of available tech, and I wanted to make sure that at least one "dial-up dinosaur" got in a few observations about possible limitations of a new system.
I've also been down on hordelings before, so I wanted Kevin to know that even someone who left that board [because of difficulties in navigation] still approved of the things he's done. It didn't seem right to not acknowledge the hard work that he's put in.
Yes, I'm very much looking forward to 2.0. [:D] | | Champion of the Werewolf Lord, Knight of Anything Duergar, and Squire of Things Gnollish List reset with the start of previews for each new set...got Chainmail®?

| More input:
1. The text size on Hordelings is too small for my old eyes, and changing the text size in my browser has no effect. Please make sure that the new site is designed to be accessible.
2. The text box displaying calendar events seems to have a word limit, and if an event description exceeds that limit, the description gets cut off. Again, not being able to edit your events makes this impossible to fix.
Feel free to tell me you'd no longer like input if this seems trivial or insulting.

One of the key differences are reply, new, etc. buttons at both the TOP and BOTTOM of the thread ... also the quote/reply-to icons and other links on each post. Right now if you reply you end up reply-with-quoting the last post.
You also can't nest quotes.
When you do post something (new or reply) MaxMinis has lots of "I'm not a computer techie" buttons that let folks bold, quote, center, whatever.

Yup. I perused Hordelings a bit today while Maxminis was down, and I discovered that it bothered me even on 1280x1024 (my screen resolution at work). The posts are too small and reading through a thread involves too much scrolling. Additionally, positioning the avatar on top of every post means that you have to break the reading continuity to look at it - there is a good reason why avatars are on the left-hand side of posts on just about every forum software I've had the chance to use.
I can certainly understand Kevin's desire for originality. However, Hordelings has a pretty steep learning curve because it differs so much from the standard forums (phpBB, Invision, uBB). Most people just don't bother learning to use the new stuff, which is (IMO) the reason why Hordelings was never as popular as Maxminis. Different formatting codes, different forum layout, and a different navigation system - all these could have worked, but not when coupled together into one package. | | Hypethetical Blood War Set List | Champion of the Gelugon | Vindicated Prophet of Blood War Ha 69/80 | De 60/60 | Ar 57/60 | GoL 72/72 | Ab 60/60 | DK 60/60 | AF 60/60 | UD 59/60 | WD 57/60 | WDQ 3/60| BW Total DDM Count: 1037 | No chance of finishing the set | Will finish the set | Set

| Okay, I have another suggestion.
Would it be possible to have some sort of indicator for threads you've posted in? Like the little pen icon does on the Wizards boards? | | Champion of Gnomes

So will the new forums have an "ignore" option like on the Wizards boards?
Hi,
I think this would be a great feature to add. Also, I am willing to donate money for the cause.
Thanks, Steve

Would like this as well. And agree about the lurning curve obstacle of hordelings noted by Sammael. It is different than most forums, and requires adaptation of the user. I don't think it'll work for a lot of maxminis members. I actually contemplate returning to the WotC-boards, but I hope I won't need to because I like this community a lot. I'm eager for 2.0, but anxious as well. The human fear of change, nothing new.
