| OK: I'm catching up, so forgive me if I missed a thread (or 100...) after a nice long vacation.
I've read teh 2.0 thread. I've read the 2.0 proposal as written by KTatroe. I've read the Webmaster's request for input, and I've read his note about a new server.
My interpretation of the Webmaster's words were that he had locked down the DB while he did some work. The implication of other posts is that the Webmaster has revoked Jai's privledges, and Jai is no longer a part of the site...
What is the truth? Or are both?! I'd appreciate it if the Mod's could help summarize the situation...

| It's all very confusing to me right now too. From the sounds of some, there may be several folks jumping ship. Dunno what'll happen. All I really want is to not lose contact with all my forums pals.
From the perspective of someone who isn't involved in the guts of keeping the site running, it looks like there were some serious misunderstandings coupled with some frustrations over neglect.
But, that's just speculation.

| As I understand it, jai did get his admin privileges revoked. I don't think he's here anymore.
I don't know any real details other than that I heard that jai and ktatroe and other(s) were submitting proposal to webmaster for merger of maxminis and hordelings, and the extrapolated guess from webmaster's response is that webmaster didn't like the idea. jai lost his admin access.
If hordelings were as easy to navigate as maxminis, and if it wasn't trading season, I would likely have already transferred to hordelings myself. Hordelings is just too complicated, IMO. | |

I personally think that all parties involved are doing what they believe is best. Unfortunately I have more exposure to just one side, thus anything I say might appear to be slanted one way or the other.
Bottom line, I'm here for the community. I'm not here for the looks or appearance of the site, the server we're on or the binary crap under the covers. I'm here because I think we have an excellent community with a focused scope and fabulous content. That focus, that community ... and really virtual family are why I'm here.
We know each other ... some of us rub us the wrong way but like family we kinda grow on each other. We poke fun, we push each other's buttons but w/in the rules and courtesy that Merric mandated we usually don't go to far and despite our vastly different opinions on some topics stick together.

| Well, I appreciate whatever information I can get.
I've pretty much got it figured which way the wind's blowing (or at least I _think_ I do), and I'll be the first to admit that the maxminis name does not mean a whole lot to me.

Zenako got it right. Jai still has the highest level of access possible (same as me) to maxminis forums. Both the database and hosting servers changed and have a new password, and they are about to change again. | |

Look I agree with the place for everything and everything in its place mentality, but you do realize that if you actually want in depth real input and discussion this needs to be general. Not alot of people go to forums, and those that do tend to be vets and those more heavily involved? | |

While he may have the same access officially, if you don't share the new passwords with him, it's hard for him to actually do anything. All evidence I have is that he hasn't been given the new passwords. Have I misunderstood the situation? | |

| | I've talked to Jai a bit on AIM. I think it's very unlikely that he'll come back anytime soon at least, if at all. The main issue seems to be the communication issues that are going on while trying to improve the site. And if you're already volunteering to do something for the community for free, you shouldn't have to put up with additional headaches/heartattacks of caused by you being unable to do what you volunteered to do. If you can find a place where you can do all that and more, the only compelling reason to stay is community; we'll see if the good aspects of the community have him come back or not... | |
