| G'day, all!
I've just moved around a few forums and created a couple of new Dreamblade ones (given the set is coming out in only a matter of days).
Any comments about the new layout can go here.
One thing I do wonder is if all the trading forums should be grouped together in one category, thus:
General
-> General Discussion
D&D Miniatures
-> Skirmish discussion
-> Tournaments
-> Roleplaying
Dreamblade
-> Battle discussion
-> Tournaments (eventually)
Star Wars
-> Skirmish discussion
-> Tournaments
Trading
-> DDM trading
-> Dreamblade trading
-> Star Wars trading
-> Axis & Allies trading
-> Trade References
General Interest
-> Crafting Corner
-> Off Topic
(I'm leaving out forums, I know, but you get the picture)
Do we need different marketplace forums for each CMG, or could we get away with just one?

Yeah, it does look odd. I'll think about it a bit. [:)]
A combined marketplace section is probably for the best.
Who uses marketplace around here, anyway? (That's not "no-one uses it", but rather "I'd like to hear from people who use it!")
Need a forum discussion place.
Should be under General Interest - I didn't delete any forums, just moved them around.
I`d think that all the generalinterest could be grouped under general.
One reason for the change is to put the actual game forums closer to the top.

I used it a lot when I first started at Maxminis.
I still do at a much lesser rate though have a lot less need having purchased most of the older that I want.
Keep looking for bargins that appear, and if I was to sell (prying minis from my cold dead hands) I would do so via marketplace first to save on ebay fees.
Gets a reasonable amount of use I think.

| I think the combined marketplace is a better way to go. There are a lot of people that want to sell/buy DDM/SWM/AAM/Dreamblade all at once... having to switch back and forth between the threads is a pain when you're only looking for a few minis from a set.
As most of the marketplace transactions would be DDM (I think), it would effectively be adding the other marketplaces into the DDM marketplace... which I don't think would overpower the marketplace. | |

| I don't like it at all so far. What you really need is the +/- for each forum section so you can remove it from view if you want. Honestly though I prefer all the major non game specific threads above everything else. Having to go down to the bottom to check on some things is terrible. The way it is currently I have to scroll up and down all the time to go where I want.

| I actually didn't notice the new set-up until I got all the windows open I wanted. I opened up all of the threads I wanted to browse and I stopped. I then thought about how easy it was to get to what I wanted. I proceeded to get back to the home page and looked at it and said to myself: "Wow. Just......................wow. I hope they keep it like this."
I am quite serious. I was always fumbling about trying to find such-and-such here and then there even though it was a simple matter of scrolling the home page up or down. It is now like as though you re-designed the site specifically for me![)]
I sure hope others are as pleased as I am because if not, I'm sure going to miss this impressive arrangement you have here. Good work, Merric![:D] | |

Anywho, looks good to me. Easy to access the main areas I usually read - GENERAL, DDM (SKRIMISH & TOURNAMENTS). Although it is now a litle more time consuming to get to the REFERENCE THREAD, MARKET PLACE, VASSAL, MEETING PLACE, AND OFF-TOPIC. I can live with it.

| I rather hope the new forum software we're trialling will allow a few more improvements - especially for "favourite" forums for various posters.
This was a lot easier with only three forums, let me tell you!

| I like it. It puts the forums that I read most right at the top. It always seemed silly to me that one of the most popular forums (DDM Skirmish) was half-way down the page, where I had to scroll to get to it at all. Meanwhile, forums like "Off-topic" and "Forums Discussion" had a prominent position.
I would agree that Roleplaying doesn't really fit with the DDM category.
I also agree that the various "Marketplace" and "Trading" forums could probably be combined. | |

One thing I'll investigate is if the new software will allow user preferences for forum order. I know all too well that there isn't one order to rule them all.

This isn't a roleplaying, offtopic, or crafting site, so it makes sense for these items to be toward the end of the list.
Having one marketplace will work fine (my bet...) based on the number of new threads in each of these forum's. The problem is where to put it? You may be better off to completely regroup:
Game discussion:
DDM
Dreamblade
SWM
AAM
Trading and Marketplace
DDM Trades
DB Trades
SWM Trades
AAM Trades
Marketplace
Other:
Roleplaying
etc.
That might be less intuitive though.
I'll echo the sentiments that customizable features would be terrific!

| I agree with most that roleplaying shouldn't be under DDM. Maybe roleplaying should be a separate category with subcategoires for the more popular variants.
As to what should be near the top or bottom. It's not that hard to scroll so I have no issues. | |

In that order. It'd be nice if Crafters' Corner wasn't tucked away at the bottom of the list.
Adding a +/- feature allowing for customization of which threads are showing would be most excellent (then it wouldn't really matter where things are located). No idea if that's feasible or not.

| Hey, folks!
I've just done another reorganisation; now there's just one Marketplace forum, and two "obsolete" Marketplaces. I've moved the threads from the past month into the new Marketplace, and I'll move older threads when I next get some time.
Roleplaying is now down in General Interest (as is Marketplace).
The A&A Historical Scenarios forum has been killed. (With a total of three threads, it was dead).
Let me know what you think of the current layout, and how it might be improved.

But, some suggestions and questions:
Why is Dreamblade between DDM and SWM (and higher than SWM)?
Seems to me that it (Dreamblade) should be below both (and A&A for that matter), as the others are established and more popular.
I would like to see the "general" and "references" section nearer the top, but then that's back to how things were.
FWIW, my most frequently used areas (other than General Discussion) are as follows, in order of frequency of use:
DDM - Skirmish
DDM - Trading
SWM - Trading
Trading: References (the price guides are here)
Roleplaying

DDM trading, trading references(about the same and usually the same times)
in that order. Every once in a while I visit some of the others but not an a regular basis.

General (first thing I check when I log on)
Skirmish (probably spend the most time reading stuff here)
Trading (frequency depends on what I'm looking for)
Tie: Off-topic and Roleplaying (I read, but rarely post in these)
I also occasionally go to trading references and forum discussion, depending on the situation. I rarely go to any of the other forums. | |

| Guys, thanks muchly for the feedback.
Well, on request of the webmaster, we're moving into DREAMBLADE month, as well as moving the General forum into a mode that may be more amicable to all of the Wizards CMGs.
Hmm. Not quite sure about the latest changes myself, but I've always found that you actually have to change things to see if they work or not. If, by the end of the month, the new format isn't working for a significant number of people, I'll change things back.

| Day late and a dollar short, but I'll chime in anyway from the top since I just now finally read this thread.
-I'm fine with trading all being together, or seperate. either is fine.
-Roleplaying should be in General and not be D&D only.
-I use the Marketplace, more to buy than to sell though.I have a hard time parting with anything. A combined marketplace would be fine with me, even though I only buy DDM. It would be much easier for others who use other minis.

I'm glad to hear that Dreamblade isn't permenantly on the top. I saw that and thought, "Wow, the Men in Black have gotten to ya'". Overall, I'm not sure if I like the new layout or not, but then again I tend to bristle at change sometimes. I'm sure the final result will be fine.
