| Things to do:
1) Allow editing of user name, e-mail & webpage on "My Settings". Check the Site Help link on the menu bar. I explain how to do that. 2) Allow option to turn "Chat/game" window off. 3) replace webpage link at left of posts with "My webpage" or similar button 4) Allow galneweinhaw to edit Eternal Campaign stats (see here)
5) Need Members page (with list of all members) 6) The do not display me in the logged window check on settings is not working. 7) Instead of "update", a big POST button is needed. 8) "Reply to thread" button at top & bottom of each thread as well as on individual posts. 9) Find out what happened to the most recent version of "Trade History" 10) Avatars uploading 11) Enable Titles and Custom Titles. 12) UBB code posting option 13) Better edit post options for regular text. | | Merric Blackman

| Well, I had typed up a list of various issues and posted it last night in the "switching server at 9pm" thread here in General, but apparently that thread was summarily deleted. :(
Here's what I can remember, which haven't already been mentioned.
1) Some posts that had been edited in the past were not transferred over from the old maxminis properly.
It was most obvious with reference and trade threads where users would update the first post. The version here at the new site was often several months/weeks old.
Now that the old maxminis is no longer accessible, users who haven't been keeping offline copies will have difficulty getting their most recent information and will have to recreate it.
you can access the old forums at http://maxminis2.brinkster.net/forums/
2) There is no indication of if/when a post has been edited.
3) The "my posts" feature brings up a list of posts, but most of them are lacking the title of the thread, which is used for the link to click to go the the corresponding threads.
4) In my reference thread, one of the replies is considered to be the first post of the thread instead of my original post. I'm assuming it has happened to other threads as well. http://64.151.65.228/Forums/Home/tabid/36/forumid/-1/threadid/4960/scope/posts/Default.aspx
5) There doesn't appear to be a way to turn off the display of signatures.
6) Dreamblade is missing from the H/W list's "game" popup menu, which makes the Dreamblade section of the H/W list inaccessable to most people.

| There is something wrong with logins too, I have to login again every time I open the page even if I check the save my info button, I'm using IE 7 beta 3.
I think this is fixed. Post again here if its not. And if the chat has to stay, a time stamp would be nice on the posts. | | Champion of Champions (for all races! even Gnomes ) Reference Thread Winnipeg Gryphon Cavalry Forums

| I don't know where to post this; so here will have to do.
1) I really hate that the text box that comes up for posting doesn't immediately have a cursor in it--this is just something I'll have to get used to.
2) I really, really don't like the way the forums display on my screen. I don't need the tiny bit of user information in the left column to take up a third of my screen--there's nothing of much interest there. And the text itself, the stuff I really want to see, is in this narrow column in the middle. I want the text to take up the bulk of the page, so I can have more than one post on the screen at once, instead of having to scroll down a half-mile just to read one post.
But, best of luck to all who are doing the grunt work on this--it can't be easy.

| Whatever cookie that is supposed to store the login information from session to session isn't working for me either. I click "remember me" each time, and still I have to relogin everytime I come back to the site. I'm using Firefox 1.5.0.6.
I believe this is fixed. Please post here again if it isn't.
Also, table widths on the forum pages aren't fixed, so the avatar area ends up filling the page when someone has a long link listed, which makes reading forum posts really difficult. Similarly, I've had the post section expand way wide so that serious right scroll is required to read a post.
The Rich Text Editor icons take just short of forever and a day to load - and I'm on a T1 line with virtually no other traffic, and like Dave said, the page doesn't load with the cursor in the posting box.
Nobody else has reported this problem. I tried to reproduce this but even on my 384k DSL connection it loads quickly. I'm crossing it out for now.
Whenever I read a post, the links for the forum header go to the Aggregated | Forum Title | Sub Forum | Thread Name - so you can't click back on the forum header to the main forum page. (I know there is a link elsewhere to do that - but its somewhat expected behavior to be able to backtrack.)
---
Edit: There doesn't seem to be a timezone specification. This said it posted at 7:33 - but its 9:33 CST where I am.
Click on "site help" at the top of the menu bar. I explain how to set your time zone there. Hmm. Thought I hit edit, not reply.

| I found that whenever I click on links posted on this site, it takes over the page it was on instead of opening in a new window like it did before the upgrade. I know, I know. Whoop-de-freakin'-doo, I could just right-click and then say open in new window but it gets quite annoying after a while. But it would be a nice gesture to have it go back to the old way. Also, I noticed that if I have more than one window open, the chat function only registers on the currently open window(or if none are open, the last one to have been opened) instead of both. Although I personally do not really care, if others have the same problem though, then it could be very difficult and frustrating to follow a conversation if you have to keep switching back between several pages to find out what someone said. I don't know if I explained it thoroughly enough for this to be identified properly so if anyone else can fill any missing details I might have left out, it would definitely speed things up. EDIT: Not really a problem to me as I have yet to reach 1000 posts(obviously, seeing as how everyone can see how many posts I have made), but I am curious as to why my avatar(Yuan-Ti Abomination, if it makes any difference) isn't showing up at any time. All I get is a red X. Also, at the request of the host to those who are posting bugs, I am using Microsoft Internet Explorer. I may not know what this has to do with solving these problems but I guess y'all know what you're doing. | | Champion of the Prismatic Golem

which is only slightly different from the old url (the addition of the maxminis folder at the root level).
You might want to get confirmation from wuzzard or webmaster that no additional changes are planned before hardcoding the new url, though.

Another one - there is no link (that I see) that takes you to the last post of a thread. There used to be a little arrow you could click on (like in most forums). Now you have to do it manually.
Check the site help on the menu bar. I explain how to fix that.
[/QUOTE]
I know that is meant to help, but it doesn't really. I knew you could change the order of the thread. Most forums show the topics oldest to newest, and that is how most of us are used to reading - or at least how I am. But, most forums also have a link that allows you to go to the last post in the topic (and some even have a link to send you to the post following the the last one you're read in the thread).

| Yesterday I visited MaxMinis from both my work computer and home
PC. Both are running FireFox on Windows XP. Both were able
to view the page with relative ease. Today, however, there seems to be a sort of JavaScript error in
detecting the width of my browsing window in FireFox. Many of the
graphics fail to load and I have a horizontal scroll bar. The
only thing that triggers a word wrap is... nothing, only hard carriage
returns start new lines meaning that I can often scroll to the right
for several pages. I attempted to view the page in Internet Explorer and everything works properly. I double checked all of my extensions to ensure that none of them
were interfering with the site (disabling them one at a time), but no
dice. I ensured that Java and JavaScript were enabled. The best clue I got was reviewing my JavaScript Console. Loading Maxminis results in a large number of errors: Error: Error in parsing value for property 'cursor'. Declaration dropped. Source File: http://www.maxminis.com/Portals/_default/default.css Line: 747 Error: Unknown property 'moz-border-radius-topright'. Declaration dropped. Source File: http://www.maxminis.com/Portals/_default/Skins/DNN-Blue/skin.css Line: 22 etc etc (I would guess there's roughly 70 of those). Is this an issue with the site or my browser? I would have
chalked it up to my browser, but I didn't seem to have this issue
yesterday. Thanks. -Diomedes EDIT: Oddly enough, everything works fine from my home PC
sporting firefox. I'll assume the trouble is on my end and work
to resolve things. Please disregard.

| RSS feeds are not updating. I'm still using the old ones, so that
might very well be the reason why. Are there new feeds? If
so, what should I now be loading into my RSS reader?
Also some of the user settings can not be changed. For instance
I'd like to change my name from "tester1" but it will not allow any
modifications...

Checking the box to enable display of a user's email address makes it publically available to everyone, not just members.
only members can see the new member list on the top menu bar. So only show your email address in your profile if you want the world to see it
Could we please move that entry to the "managed" profile (where it's possible to set visibility as public/members/admin), or add those options to the email address entry in the "my settings" profile...
no. its not that I dont want to or agree with your logic, however it requires changing the plumbing of the portal software and when the portal software gets upgraded we have to put the changes back each time. for this I would prefer that people use it as-is (see site help if required), since this is not something that people change on a regular basis.
There doesn't appear to be a way to view a user's "managed" profile, so at the moment there doesn't appear to be a secure way to allow only members to access your email address... member list does that now | | | |

| It seems that I've found a new and exciting bug in the underlying forum module...
If a user changes the "Alias" entry in the "User Profile" section of "My Settings", it is impossible to change their displayed username (aka alias) back to their original user name since that name is considered to be already in use.
It would be nice if the code checked to see if the user requesting that particular alias was the user in question, so that it would be possible to reset the alias to match their username.
I'd appreciate it if Wuzzard or webmaster could fix my alias so that it is LCS again.
Until then, I shall leave my name blank in protest !!! (got old fast)
Maybe the "alias" entry would be a good thing to disable, considering the potential for problems (and abuse).
While you're fixing my alias, lalato was hoping you could change his username to Lalato with the first L capitalized (which he can't do via an alias, since the comparison is case insensitive). http://www.maxminis.com/Forums/tabid/36/mid/370/threadid/394160/scope/posts/Default.aspx
