| Hey! There is a report over on Hordelings that someone sent postcards to a game store in mid-state NY promoting MaxMinis.com I'm curious as to who did this, and what the plan is (and I'd be interested in what it actually looks like). What is the plan for these? Building the community in a non-organic way could dilute what has historically made this a great site, or it could spur the site on to greater heights! Curious minds would like to know what the plan/intent was! If it seems like a good plan, I'd like to know how to get them sent to other stores... Pat E | | "Games evolve. | I'm from Rochester. it's not here.
It's probabally in Syracuse, home of none other than Chaotic Good. I didn't want to put 2 & 2 together... but....
Could it be some ploy to damage the credability rating of Maxminis?
Anyone got this postcard and can scan it? | | May you find peace and happiness at the hand of Hextor.

The Card very clearly promotes this webite. I don't have the card, nor a scan of it, but I can confirm that much. Pat E | | "Games evolve. Otherwise we'd still be pushing rocks around the dirt. | | Odd, I've done a fair amount of word-of-mouth promoting. Sending out postcards... that does seem a little wierd. | | Pathetic Earthlings. |
johnny.quest wrote I guess this topic isn't appropriate for Community Discussion?
I feel that it is. But, it's probably kinda touchy. I think some may be afraid to voice an opinion (then again, some folks have trouble voicing opinions without dripping acid). But I also wonder how many people have been reading this particular forum. I haven't seen nearly as much activity (here or on any of the other boards, except maybe ENWorld and rpg.net) as usual lately--probably post-GenCon fatigue.

| I have no problem with the postcards. I think it's great that
webmaster (or whoever) is taking enough of an interest to actively
promote the site.
However, I find it disturbing that a thread that is about this
community building campaign is moved from the community forum into the
forums discussion forum... when this topic has nothing to do with how
the forums work, but how this community is built.
Again, no problem with the postcards... big problem with reaction to the discussion of them.

| I just found out about this one today (only a day late). I've got to say that it seems like a pretty significant indicator as to webmaster's intent for the site--and that all of us who built his site in one way or another can like it or lump it. | | Champion of the Werewolf Lord, Knight of Anything Duergar, and Squire of Things Gnollish List reset with the start of previews for each new set...got Chainmail®? | |

| | Do we know that some one from Maxminis sent the card? No, we do not. As far as I have seen only one card has ternd up. What if it was some one from Maxminis is that a bad thing? | Heya guys, Sorry for moving this thread and not talking further about it yesterday, I was pretty busy. I sent them out. I saw some other website's card on a bulletin board at my local game store and I thought it was a good idea. Why is dreamblade prominently featured? Because its a new game and I reasoned its more likely that a dreamblade player (many being magic players) wouldn't know about the site. The goal was to advertise the site and bring more players to the site, particularly the less computer-savvy ones. | | | |

| I am really fip flopping on the Post Cards. I geuss as a means to grow the community I think its a great idea. Send them out to the multiverse advertising a place for poeple to go to learn more about ALL of the miniatures games. On the other hand, from appearances it looks like a means of trying to stear poeple to this particular website. I'm more in favor of one big happy miniatures family. To each thier own game, be it DDM, DB, AAA, or another. I'm tired of all the bantering (some of it negatively) about one site or another. I like both sites very much and unless one or the other goes way overboard I will continue to visit both sites. Thank you very much. Bye the way, no Post Cards yet in Buffalo stores. But if you send me one I'll put it on their bulletin board. | | Sirohk, the Bard of Heartstone Knight of the Rahshasa's And Crusader of the Zakya, Ak'chazar, Naztharune, and Naityan Rakshasa's | |
