| Since the upgrade, the DDM Discussion forum hasn't had nearly as many posts as it used to get. Should I blame the chat window for this?

| I think there are many reasons for the reduced number of posts (though you'll see I'm still posting way too often). 1) Post-GenCon burnout 2) Maxminis/Hordelings issues 3) The chat window speeds up a lot of discussion and reduces the need for posts 4) Some number of DDM players have moved over to Dreamblade Dave | | Knowledge Arcana editor issues 5-9, Phoenix Lore Magazine editor, assistant editor for Rite Publishing; My Trade Thread and My Reference Thread; Winner of WBC IV, IX and XIII; Rule #0: bshugg is always right! | |

| I'd like to blame the new format although that isn't the whole reason. The chat window certainly should cut down on the "what is this" or "is this legal" thread. I don't like having everything sized for a screen larger than 600x800. Side scrolling sucks. I'll probably see the same problem over at Wizards now that they should be done with their forum "upgrades". | | | |

| It is most likely all the posting bugs that is turning people off from posting as the chat is so much easier to use, even to start trades ( the memberlist has to be fixed ASAP )...On the other hand, many dislike the chat and tend to avoid the site now.

| Well, for me, this is no longer my first stop to catch up on WotC Miniatures talk. I'm posting here about as often as I used to, but I am far less likely to start a new thread here. I don't care about the Chat Window, though I suspect that it will lead to MaxMinis being "Discovered" by websense, and thus, my access to this site is likely to end during the day. In the end, there hasn't been as many interesting threads for me to respond to. There is always a Gen Con hangover, but that is not the major reason today... Pat E | | "Games evolve. The Chat Window, thankfully, can be minimized. So its a non-issue now.
But the new format still sucks, and the thread viewing problems remain (among a myrid of other annoying issues and bugs) and put together it makes this place virtually unreadable. I'm waiting to finish out my last outstanding trade, then I'm likely out of here.

| I am burned out a lot on maxminis because of all the issues that lead to a partial migration to hordelings. I like hordelings interface less than the new one here. But I used to post A LOT more than I do now. My heart isn't in it nearly as much as it used to be.

| Yes, so many problems but I really hope they are resolved, as this community is amazing and the moderators are nice and we can still have interesting discussions or just play around on the site. What I fear is a new members migration from the postcard with many young children that just think "Dungeon and Dragons is kewl, man.".

| I haven't been posting as much for a couple of reasons: 1.) I'm very busy at work and don't have as much down time. 2.) There have been very few recent threads that I'm interested in contributing to. 3.) Many of the my favorite people have migrated over to Hordelings so I'm splitting my time between here and there. 4.) The new interface and various forum bugs have been difficult to get used to. 5.) The price hike (50% in 3 years!) has been a bit of a buzz kill for DDM. Those are just my personal reasons. | | Have: Cat; Want: Storm Giant Champion of Anything Dragonlance Before trading, please check the Disputed Trades Thread | |

| As others have indicated many factors contribute. Burnout from Gen Con and other summer stuff Traditional end of summer slow period Forum interface issues which while they did not preclude posting, did change it for many and change is always an issue to overcome. The frequent shifts and changes served to put a severe damper on posting enthusiasm during the past month with so much uncertainty of outcomes. The realignment of the forums has also served to spread things out, which was the design intent of the reorg, since it was felt that the General forum was dominated by a single faction of the purported interests reflected on the site. Spread things out over a number of forums and none of them appear as busy. Relocation of their focus to elsewhere for some. | | Built the addition for this addiction, now on to the "gaming table" project.... http://www.maxminis.com/hw_list.asp?user=Zenako last updated 29 May 2006 Set Status: in a nutshell = all of all In Process trades 0), (Sig last updated 05/29/06) 300 plus Completed Trades -

Seconded, all those who used to contribute really made this site what it was. I loved reading the witty replies and informative posts, now I just find some of it to be bland.

| I'm still in the game, have collected all ten sets and the black dragon, waiting on red...the reason I haven't posted in so long is that my local 5 year long D&D campaign dissolved that I was DMing due to move to the woods. But I built a new game room to house all my figs with great big long shelves, ten of them, 12 feet long each! The room is 22 feet by 12, so plenty of room for gaming, just no gamers yet. With the reorganization of the forums I was displeased at first with the big clunky spaces and all, even though I liked the chat window...but mostly I was busy and I wasn't able to decide where to go between DDM general and the new overall general...
But I'm back, at least lurking at the minimum!

| I for one have been trying post at least couple of times a day (although posts that are not always of much value or need discussion ). I do miss a lot of the others who have jumped to other sites and many who are just not posting right now. I think the lack of posting or "interesting" discussion topics is due to: 1) The off season 2) Next set is a number of months away 3) The two DDM websites and us folks spliting our time 4) Burnout from all the weeks / months prior to GenCon On the other hand I am seeing losts of new poeple posting and that's just great news - new folks means new ideas and new challenges on top of growing out mini's community. Things will pick up quickly though, have faith. Cheers. | | Sirohk, the Bard of Heartstone Knight of the Rahshasa's And Crusader of the Zakya, Ak'chazar, Naztharune, and Naityan Rakshasa's | |

| My reasons for less posting (not that I've been posting a lot lately anyway)... I don't see as many interesting threads as I used to, and so reply less often. However, this is probably due more the fact that I can't bring up a single page with all the latest threads (from EVERY category) like I used. Now I simply look at General, DDM General, and occasionally stick my nose into a few others. But if it's not super easy for me to see them, I tend to look elsewhere. My 2 cp. | |

| | You can get a kinda of active threads listing by going to the NEWS link at the top of the page. Not as good as the old active thread page in my opinion, but better than nothing. I think that old page was a real driver for people posting in threads that they might have otherwise missed out on.
