I must take seriously concerns that e-mail information stored at this site may no longer be secure, and have taken the necessary steps to remove any and all personal information I have posted and stored here.

This of course means that I can no longer be contacted through this site, i.e. no PM's, and no further trading.

I'll miss everyone, and wish you the best.  As with Merric, real life is also intruding, so I'm not simply jumping ship to Hordelings, rather I'm requesting my internet connection at work be severed so that I can make more time for the stuff I supposedly get paid for!  While I'm not happy with the way this site has gone, it's still my home site for DDM and even though most of you whom I knew are no longer here, for those who are left---see ya!

I think it has to do with rampant speculation.  That speculation is rampant because there hasn't been to date a clear and concise explanation on where MaxMinis is going.

At the start of July a thread from the administration folder was moved to this forum.  This was during the debate about MaxMinis 2.0 (Combining Hordelings and MaxMinis).  In that thread, you Webmaster, postulated that you would like to see this site become larger, reaching out to any game system, and in short becoming a commercial site.

Then postcards were sent out, without any advance notice to the community, and speculation increased that perhaps this was the first step towards that end.

While you have stated in my thread about the postcards that you were simply trying to attract new players to the site, others still wonder if the goal is to reach some crticial mass, and "flip a switch" to a full blown for profit site.  As part of that, the current privacy policy is written in the present tense, leaving the door open that if the site converts to a for profit site, that the owner (you...) could be entitled to change the policy, and then sell off that critical mass of e-mail addresses.

That might all sound like "lone gunman" speak, but with the historic lack of communicaiton, and the difficulty in understanding what you are trying to accomplish, it shouldn't be too surprising that some people are fearful of what direction the site might be headed in.

My lack of communication is a result of me spending my little available time to make tangible changes to the website, rather than just talking.    I figured with my absence and the gross resentment it caused that little, if any, of what I could say would appease you guys.  I became more convinced of this by the rather harsh responses that immediately followed the "maxminis will stay maxminis for now" post.  So I went to work making improvements and gave up trying to explain myself to the army of critics.  It seemed the best use of my available time to funnel my energies into "doing" rather than "saying".

Clearly this approach has not worked.  I have angered a number of important people like yourself, doubt, fenris, aesoph, kiddoc, and others.  I am at a loss about how to repair the damage.   If you think it will help, get all of maxminis vets to ask me whatever questions they want in a single thread.  I will answer each one.  Make sure to get them all, even the nasty ones, as I don't want there to be any lingering resentment or unanswered questions.
