| When I use the drop-down to view "all sets" in the H/W List, IE hangs for two or three minutes. (As far as I can tell, after this period of time the page loads -- and "all sets" is shown -- if I switch to another app or IE window and then back to the hung one.)
I've verified this occurs both on my work machine and home machine.
I haven't checked to see if it occurs in Firefox. | |

At this point, I would call that expected behavior.
With 10 sets of DDM released and various promos/maps/etc, with all of the DDM items shown the list is pushing about 3,000 controls.
Your browser needs to keep track of the values of each text box (three each item for have, want, and trade) and popup menu (one each item for the rating plus a few incidental), not to mention that everything is a table so there's a significant amount of layout the browser has to do for all this stuff.
That's a pretty significant amount of memory required, and web browsers are in general relatively inefficient.
Some other browsers are able to display the page as it loads instead of appearing to be hung, but are still going to struggle with that many controls.

| Perhaps we need to update this feature, then. Many people use this as a method of maintaining their records for their collection. If they lose the ability to see their entire collection at one time... bad times.
I'd offer to help, but I have no skills in this area. If the problem is the text boxes, perhaps what we need to do is cut down the number of them. Can we code it so that the default is a presentation with no text box, just the input from the text box (if that makes any sense)? It seems like that would be similar to displaying any page of the forums... Then, perhaps we could have a click box that allows you to go to a particular set in your collection with text boxes for updates. That would require far less text boxes...
Of course, all this comes from a guy that still feeds cheese to his computer mouse. | |
