I like to type up my posts in Microsoft Word before pasting them into the message boards whenever I'm doing a long post.  I've been having a recurring annoyance, though, that whenever I include the names Pearlthorn Castle or Heartsblood Temple (and now Scarab Warcharm), the name gets pasted in with a weird "lacename" tag, like this:

laceName w:st="on">ScarablaceName> laceName w:st="on">WarcharmlaceName>

Any idea why that is happening and/or how to prevent it?...other than just not using Microsoft Word.

If you use the "Save as Webpage" feature on one of these after you've written it up in Word, and then look at the generated file with a text editor, does it have the correct html or does it also have the extra garbage text inserted?

Here's an example of Heartsblood Temple pasted from Word:

laceName>HeartsbloodlaceName> laceType>TemplelaceType>:

Here's the same text with tags when I save as web page and view in text editor:

laceName>

laceName>  style='mso-bidi-font-weight:normal'>HeartsbloodlaceName> style='mso-bidi-font-weight:normal'> laceType>  style='mso-bidi-font-weight:normal'>TemplelaceType>style='mso-bidi-font-weight:normal'>:

Sure is a lot of garbage (though it probably won't all show, since many of the tags will end up being interpereted).  At least I see where the "laceName" is coming from.ÂlaceName>

laceName>

Possibily try changing font before you copy n paste.

It looks like the problem is that one of the tags inserted by Microsoft Word is being botched up since it includes the code for a smiley.

</st1:PlaceName>

:P ==

It's really Microsoft's fault for including so much junk in their html code, but I'll try to fix it anyway

I'm going to need to change all of the smiley codes so that they are enclosed in brackets. I was planning to do it eventually, since the inability to type (D&DC38) without it turning into (D&DC3 was annoying me, but I'll try to get it taken care of sometime this week.

I'll post here again when I've made the changes (and in various other places too, so people don't panic and start a riot over broken smileys ). Hopefully pasting from Word will work correctly once it's done.
