Just something I wanted to put out here for consideration:

The last few weeks have (IMHO) seen an increase in overt hostility by a select number of posters. Either those staunchingly defending 2.0 and going to far in their zealotry, or those bashing everything concerning 2.0 and those people trying to enjoy the new game.

Maybe it would be nice to have some sort of forum guidelines stickied somewhere in the DDM General section? Or somewhere else for that matter, because I wasn't able to find any guidelines whatsoever (could be I failed my search check). It would be nice to see something about people showing mutual respect.

I've been a loyal maxminis member for about 5 years now, and have before that frequented the wizards boards since the early days of the game. I'd hate to see maxminis falling into the same bitterness the Wizards boards have been showing for a long time.

Good of you to bring it up. I'll keep my eye on it, but I certainly appreciate others doing the same.

Feel free, everyone, to send alerts on any particular posts that are offensive or nearly so.

But, with a new edition will come grievances, and players need a place to vent. That said, we do want to keep the level of discourse above a merely civil level. We need to have a 'community' here or it's not worth having a separate place.

Guide lines are linked in the codex thread. (The Maxminis Terms of Use.)

I think things got a little more aggro when I went awol a while back and there was less moderation around.

Golden rule is (or should) be 'be polite'.

Complaining about different version is fine, not belittling others opinions of.

I understand your concerns but I can't see that happening. The Wizards boards are a total train wreck. Maxminis at its absolute lowest, worst point has never been anywhere near that bad.

Well the changeover to 2.0, I think has had an effect on the site. When I first came to this site, it was us, Hordelings and WoTC. It may have grown since then and that some sites are a bite more lax than others. I feel we are becoming a community that is true to the game. An elite group.
Just my cents of sense.
