Whomever is in charge:

Bertha traded in her potion of sprinting, and got a medium scroll (major?) of quickened. Sorry for the mixup :).

AesophDarkfable and I met. It was a good game dominated by inits and attack rolls.

Winning Warlord: tullywi (LG)
Warband: Garrett the Cleric of Yondolla, 2x Skullclan Hunters, 2x Protectors, Aramil, Lidda, and a Man-At-Arms
Experience gained: +1000XP, +1500 Campaign Pts.
Leveling: Garrett gains a level, XP:5000 (+4 Lvl, +3 SPL, +25 HP, +2 CMD, [] Protection from Evil, [] Bless (1st), [] Bear's Endurance (2nd))
Lieutenant XP: Aramil, XP: 500
Lieutenant leveling:Aramil, XP:1000 (+1 Lvl, +1 SPL, +5 HP, +[] (1st))
Magic item gained: (Maj).Boots of Flight (F8)
Magic item lost: (Med).Ring of Shielding

Defeated Warlord: AesophDarkfable (LG)
Warband: Cleric of Lathander, Warforged Hero, Warforged Fighter, Skullclan Hunter, Protector, Man-at-Arms
Experience Gained: 250 XP & 250 Campaign Pts.
Leveling options: NA
Magic item gained: (Med).Potion of Blasting[][]
Magic item lost: (Min).Potion of Shield (Immune to Magic Missile)

Aesoph played a good match. However, I was able to win several of the key initiatives and followed that up with good attack rolls by my skullclan hunters. The couple times I didn't win initiative, Aesoph rolled low and didn't hit me at all or only once out of the attacks.

Aesoph was going to upload the log file because I dropped once.

Good playing Aesoph. Hopefully, your dice roll more favorably.

Wish I could have watched it. For some reason vassal doesnt like me to watch any game that involves a log file. It says there is some error and everything on screen becomes gray.

Good luck with the Dice Ritual. I just try to play so much that the overall dice rolls don't matter. (It doesn't work out that way very well.)

I sent you an e-mail, but thought I'd post here too. AesophDarkfable and I did play Tuesday night and I can play Wednesday night. Hopefully, this is enough notice because the other times don't sound very promising. Also, I won't be able to check e-mail until tomorrow around 7 PM, but I should be able to sneak on here and check the forum at lunch.

Adept, What version of Vassal do you have? What is the error you are receiving? Let me know, because I really like to watch logs. I haven't had trouble lately, but I haven't looked at my old ones in a while. The Vassal version shows in the beginning when Vassal starts up. Should be something like 2.03 or something like that.

Hi Takasi, I just got back into town last night, storms on the East Coast delayed my flight by two hours. I can play tonight (Wednesday) or any other night this week at 6PM Pacific (9PM Eastern for me I think). Although I hope our match doesn't take 6 hours like some that were listed; then I might have to continue to another night.

Hey Rgrayua

I pooched our log last week, do you remember what item you traded and what you won? Also, since I knew you were going away and I didn't have a log, I just said that *I* won, is that okay?

Winning warlord's warband: Yrk the Jaundiced (Snig the Axe), goblin skirmisher x3, destrachan, half-illithid lizardfolk, gravehound, azer raider

Experience gained: 1000

Warlord's leveling options (if any): Totals: 2000 XP; +2 to attack; +20 HP

Lieutenant XP, and who it is going to: 500 XP to Bling (Goblin Skirmisher)

Lieutenant leveling options (if any): +10 HP, +1 to attack

Magic item gained: Helm of the Lion

Magic item lost (if any): N/A

Losing warlord's warband: Vadania, goliath barbarian, graycloak, wolf, ragnara

Experience gained: 250

Warlord's leveling options (if any): don't know

Magic item gained: +1 Shield

Magic item lost (if any): Potion (1 use) -- false life and immune poison

Battle Report (An optional brief summary of the match): The gravehound and half-illithid kept the goliath stunned for most of the game, while the destrachan's cone punished the rest of the warband. LE's high AC's also played a role. And, of course, the dice were a determining factor overall.

I saw your post it was fine. I did point out that I had two spells left, both Magic Weapons! [:)]

I didn't keep a logfile either, but I'm pretty confident that my magic item was a (Med.) +1 Shield of Blinding [], but if you remember something better I'll definitely take it!

Warlord's leveling options (if any): I have a question about this: do the amounts listed on the table stack? For example, Yrk now has 2000 XP; is his bonus to attack now +2 or +3 on top of what's on the card? Same question with HP.

Johnny you only get one item, so even if you picked up the potion if you rolled for something you dont get to keep the potion and your opponent gets it back

No, the levels don't stack from the table. For every level you gain, you gain +1 attack and +10 hitpoints. The exception to this is spell casters - if a spell caster takes a Spell Progression Level, they only gain 5 hitpoints and whatever they decide for their spell. They don't get the +1 attack.

Hmm, you shouldn't have gained 2 items.

Technically, it is listed in this thread under their name. You don't really need to worry about it if you don't want. This is mostly a means of cutting down on the posts. If your opponent does level up and you didn't discuss it at the end of your match, they can post it in a seperate thread.

Edit: Wow, it took me 8 minutes to write this? Aesoph partially beat me to it.

Thanks for the clarifications, y'all. I've edited my original post to reflect them. I'm still a little unclear on this, though. I traded my Ring of Sprinting (which I won after last week's battle) and got a Helm of the Lion. If I choose to trade in last week's item, does that mean I don't roll for an item (or choose an opponent's item via spoils of war) for this week's victory? What happens next? Do I trade in my ring, get my helm, and then destroy an opponent's item, or does the item go back to my opponent?

Sorry guys about the horribly written rule here, it's difficult to understand and we're working on it (well, jai is ;)

However, under the "Spoils of War" rule:

"If the victor chooses not to take one of these items, he instead destroys one medium item of his opponent's that he has in his possession."

Read the whole rule to really tie your brain in a knot.

Basically, if you capture an enemy's item, you can either destroy it, or take it. If you take it, you don't get to roll for an item.*

*only works for medium (or equivalent, two minor) items. you can't take your enemy's major items (though you can still pick them up and use them in the battle)

Hope this makes it a little clearer untill we get that thing re-written?

REPORT: AesophDarkfable(CG) vs. DaemonKain(CG)

Winning Player: AesophDarkfable(CG)
Krawd's Warband: Thom Waits (+2 lvl +1 CR +RoE +[]SM2), Spookytooth the LT Barbarian, Catfolk Wilder, Graycloak Ranger (Bag of Tricks) Wolf (Minion) / TILES = Assy Rubble, Torture Chamber, Mushroom Tangle, Medusa Room
Experience Gained: 1000 XP, 1500 Campaign Pts.
Leveling: Thom 3000 xp +1 Level (3) +5 HP (40) +[] 1st level
Lieutenant XP: 1000 XP to Spookytooh (=1000XP)
Lieutenant leveling options: +1 level, +10HP, +1 att
Magic item gained: (Maj).Shield +1 of Protection (immune) to elec, armor +1 (minor if the new roll counted for this match, if not then no armor +1)
Magic item lost: Bag of tricks (traded)

Losing Player: DaemonKain(CG)
Unger's Warband: Mort, Rogar the Goliath, Goliath Barbarian, Newmoon the Elf Warrior, Ialdabode / TILES: Rubble, Medusa, Scorched Passage, dungeon room
Experience gained: 250 (2000 total)
Warlord's leveling options: +1 level (2nd), +10HP, +1 ATT
Magic item gained: Potion of Arachnida [][]
Magic item lost: Shield +1

Thom thought long and hard before marching into the territory of Mort the Marshall. He brought his bodyguard Spookytooth with him, and the Catfolk Wilder as he figured that Mort would bring along Rogar and possibly a second Goliath. When he looked across the field he knew he did well. Summoning Azers to aid his cause and producing a wolf from the bag of tricks. Thom ordered his mean to set up a perimeter where the goliaths couldnt get through without Attacks of Opp. Ialdabode routed a wolf with a mental blast, the goliaths took cover. Finally the marshall gave the order, the goliaths moved forward out of instict of his command. Then one charged Thom through a side corner in the torture chamber, he hit, but could not make Thom run. The goliath, nipped at from a wolf, took a powerful mind thrust from the wilder and fled. Thom slashed him, Spookytooth did the same, and finally another wolf hit and stunned him. He couldnt flee, he was destroyed next turn. The other goliath was then charged by spookytooth. The next turn the Catfolk blasted him as well, but this time fell prey to the stun of overdrawing on psychic energy. A few attacks more and that goliaths falls, but Mort makes a come back, taking out both Spookytooth with a godly blow and Thom. The catfolk, the hero of the day manages to take out another goliuth with two mental blasts. (he never made a save against the mind thrust). Somewhere in here Mort bit the big one as well... there was static from storms on the battlefield that knocked out our mystical cameras so this part is fuzzy in my mind (read lot of disconnections). Finally Thom back now with four Azers, a goliath was surrounded. The catfolk wounded but not dead, Mort through up the flag at 135 pts to 112, not wanting to force his men through more resurrections.

Total kills:

Me:
Goliath x3
Mort
Elf Warrior x2
Baldy

Him:
Thom Waits
Azer x7
Wolf x4
Longtooth

XP: 250
Magic Item Gained: Ring of Quick Striking
Magic Item Lost: Forgot, rgrayua can you repost? It's in the logfile.

Battle Report: Wow. Long match, but every round was exciting. It was getting late in rgrayua's time zone, but we kept saying "just one more round!" It was close most of the game, and I only won for three reasons:

1.) Fog - The fog made a pretty big difference, as it stranded units that respawned. Luckily the Lion Falcon Monks know their way around unsupervised.
2.) The Invisible, Bound Drow - Elvira spawned in my starting tile where my slower "activation units" turtled. After one side was scattered with a fireball the other side bum rushed her and pinned her in the corner. She stayed there for the rest of the match, keeping the orcs and giant lost in the fog.
3.) LUCK - We lost count on how many times rgrayua rolled 1s. Over and over and over. A free mini to the first person who goes through the logfile and figures this out. Just be prepared to use your fingers AND toes!

Tkort and I met. If the dice bot had its way, we would still be playing.

Winning Warlord: tullywi (CG)
Warband: Mystique the Bladesinger, Drizzt, Rask, Ragnara, Ialdabode, Lidda Adventurer, and Voice of Battle.
Experience gained: +1000XP, +1500 Campaign Pts.
Leveling: Mystique is now at 12000 experience.
Lieutenant XP: Voice of Battle, XP: 500
Lieutenant leveling:NA
Magic item gained: (Maj).+1 Shield of Spell Storing
Magic item lost: (Med).Cloak of Shielding

Defeated Warlord: Tkort (LG)
Warband: Bertha the Dwarf Sergeant, Mordenkainen the Mage, Gold Champion, Dwarf Samurai, Rhek, and Arty the Dwarf Artificer.
Experience Gained: 250 XP & 250 Campaign Pts.
Leveling options: NA
Magic item gained: (Min).+1 Shield
Magic item lost: NA

Boy did I learn some things this match. This is the first time I saw either Mordy or Drizzt played. I thought I had Mordy dead when I had Rask and Drizzt surround him. He took the aoo and blasted them with a cone of cold. He made the SR check on Drizzt. Drizzt and Rask both failed the saves. Mordy then quick casted a Scorching Ray on Rask. Rask went from 85 hit points to 30 in one quick activation. The worst part was he failed the morale check and ran away. This is one of the reasons I like the Eternal Battle. If you make a mistake, you usually have enough time to recover.

The dice bot was all over the place. If there were any important attacks for either of us (Fallguy didn't hit once with Godly Blow, Rask missed the Dwarf Sergeant 3 times at +22, he also missed the Gold Champion once at +24), we would miss or hit and fail the conceal check.

I also learned early on that Improved Countersong DOESN'T protect against Mordy unless Mordy is within 6 of the Voice of Battle. That wasn't a pretty lesson. Tkort learned that you have to have enough movement to get off the Exit square to route all the way off the board.

All in all, it was very entertaining. Good playing and thanks for helping make it fun Tkort.

Log file is posted.

Ok, then Let's make it so.

Zippy, Can you add this to the rules addendum?

"if you lose a match, you may trade a Major item for a new random Major item, instead of gaining a Minor item.

If you win a match, you may trade a Major Item for a new random Major item and a new random Minor Item, instead of gaining a new Medium Item."

does that start now? (like the match Im in now) or next week?

tullywi's call on that one =)

Yes, it starts this week (24). Spread the word. I'll let anyone do it this round even if they have already rolled an item. (Assuming they haven't already traded in a major item that is.) The downside is they have to lose the item they just received and have someone watch the rolls. Otherwise, I'll be happy to do the rolls for anyone. I'm sure everyone would like major items of +1 Shield of Spell Storing. (I've received a few of these.)

BATTLE REPORT

I started out scrambling to keep out of site of his kenku's range ... being slow and all. He raced up, and we met in round 3. From there he got a kill in round 1, followed by 1 in round 2. By that time though i managed to lower his HP so that my commanders -8 MC helped route his guys. I outnumbered him heavily (flanking whenever i could) and it probably helped thati have 4 consecutive 19s.

I reached 64 of the needed 75 while he still only had 9. He conceded at this point, having had a long day and already played a game.

Thanks to Zippy for this post (i copied his and changed info) [:)]

I gave up the +1 Shield of Blinding [].
1) & 2) The fog really hurt me, making Elvira's spells largely useless. Since TKort mentioned that she cast almost all of her spells the previous week, this week she was able to cast 1 Magic Weapon, 4 Invisibility (2 from scroll) and 1 Snowball Swarm. The fog and reappearing on the opposing starting tile and being pinned literally killed her effectiveness. We may have to add in the rules discussion, discussions on whether this item is too powerful. After playing against it a few times, I'm definitely opposed to a similar spell, which was bandied about. I probably should have gone with more than one commander, but still.
3) I stopped counting in disgust at 8.

Hopefully, you didn't hear this from me. Quicken Spell gives you Quick Cast []. This allows you to cast any spell that you know as a quick action. So, you can cast 2 spells in one turn and move your normal speed. Double move and quick cast a spell at any point during your move (assuming you could cast a spell - i.e., not based), etc.

I never want to play that scenario again :)

Also if I never see another 4 rolled it will be too soon :).

Just a reminder Tully, for next week: I still have a potion of sprinting that I shouldn't have: although I will happily use it if you just don't feel like taking it away :).
