| Hi all,
I was wondering if I am to use my warlord stats from last week in my game against AcousticDevil, and (if so) why? [?] This will be only my second Vassal Campaign Skirmish, so I'm still a little uncertain as to how the intricate details of the campaign work... I'm having a blast learning, though!
Also, I just sent an email to AcousticDevil; if you read this post first: I'm free Tuesday-Friday after 2:00 P.M. Atlantic time.
I'm looking forward to the skirmish, and keep up the great work Tullywi! All of us Vassal gamers really appreciate your dedication.
Just my 2 ep worth,

| | I'm pretty sure it's acoustic devil that's using his stats from last week, not you Redgar, in your match. Just like in my match with Vodka, I'll be using my stats from last week, whereas he'll be able to use the level that he gained last week. | |

Actually she used the first dose, still has one dose remaining. I think No Name used one dose of his Potion of Protection, still one dose remaining.

| Setup: Each player that does not have a Statue Room among his or her feature tiles may swap a Statue Room in for another tile.
Does this mean that each person has to bring a Statue Room, or does it mean that if no one shows up with a tile that has a statue you can switch out a tile a that time to be a Statue Room?

Well, remember these are from the MHB where the scenerios are random and the tiles were limited. So, if you didn't know you were playing Statue Race, this rule allows you to swap out one of your tiles to get a statue. We will play it as written. If you don't bring a Statue Room, you can swap one of your cards for a Statue Room after you reveal warbands and tiles.

So, she starts off as if she is Spell Progression Level 2. When she takes a level, it will be Spell Progression Level 3 and she gains a 1st level spell. When she levels up again - she could get her 4th level.
So, yes, you can take a spell progression level, but you need to pick a 1st level spell.

| Tullywi -
Krawd takes Power Attack. Since no updates are yet officially adopted, he uses it as written, -5 to each attack and +5 damage.
However, that assumes +5 base damage rather than bonus damage (thus a critical for Krawd goes from 20 to 30 dmg, rather than 20 to 25). That is how PA is implemented on other minis, but I want to check before taking the Feat and having confusion [?]

| tully, whats the discrepancy? most likely thats my bad, he's got three wins in which he survived (one was a forfeit) so he got 3000 Exp from wins and 250 per loss for however many weeks he's been around, I only missed one week when I was on vacation. I probably just screwed up the difference between campaign and regular exp, if you check the weekly battle reports it should be straight. Just set it the way you want it.

| Winner-
AesophDarkfable Commander: Madrox the Maul, Orc Druid Warband: Madrox, Cursed spirit, Timber wolf x2 XP: 500 (no level) Lt xp: 250 to Spurn the Cursed Spirit Item: +1 weapon of ghost touch item lost: none
Loser- Bleed Black Commander: Zor'Vahkial the Mindflayer Warband: Mindflayer, Dreadguard XP: 250 (total 500) Lt xp: none Item: +1 weapon item lost: none
Odd game as Madrox forgot that he had to take out one of Zors army before he could use the power of the statues, he didn't bring his hard hitting friends. After some back and forth and the fall of Madrox, Spurn finally took down Zor'Vahkial and thus the Dreadguard disapperaed. Thus in rd 3 it was called game as Spurn would just have to walk over and get a statue to win it all. | | Im out- find me on Hordelings if you want to chat.

| This probably isn't the best place to post this, but this thread will probably get the most traffic from the most active players. I was just wondering if a lot of people will be away for the first week in August because of the holiday. I will be away, so I was hoping either a lot of people would be away that week too and the tournament would start a week later, or an odd number would be here for the first week and I would get a by into the second week :). (I called it first! :)). Maybe now that it's posted here I'll start a new thread and if you have time just post if you will be around that week or not...

| Okay I've got a nice annoying question for you :). What precisely do we mean by "any statue on the battlegrid". Some of the newer tiles have things that seem like statues, in shape etc, that are not quite. A couple quick examples: Mummy's Crypt (statues or Sarcophagi?), Shrine of Slaughter (definitely a statue, is it what they were talking about at the time?).
While it's easy to argue one way or another, the basic question is: Is it automatically a statue if it has the functions of a statue in DDM (cover, reduced movement, etc), or is the spirit of the scenario that the standard Humanoid, single square Statue as depicted in the rules book has some kind of magic power and anything else is just a sculpture on the map? This is going to be an interesting scenario because there are a good 10 or 11 terrain tiles that contain something like a statue.. plus a few more questionable ones.
Oh, another question, with an obvious answer, I would assume that the same benefit from a statue does not stack? A less obvious second question: If you get a duplicate spell, do you reroll, as you would if you were fully healed and rolled the healing gift?
Oh, another question . What about "created" statues.... former minis no longer with us. (Please say they dont count.. I think my opponent has a lot better chance of making his own statues than I do :)).
Sorry to be a pest :).
Tkort.

| REPORT: Old Coast (LE) vs. Zippy (CG)
Winning Warlord: Rodus (Zippy/CG) Rodus’ Warband: Rodus the Copper Samurai, Treant, Eberk, Griffon, Ialdabode / SUPPORT = Sharn Cutthroat, Gnome Recruit (Bag of Tricks) / TILES = assy statue, statue room (sub'd), mushroom tangle, medusa's lair Warlord XP: +1000 XP & +1500 CP Warlord Leveling: +1 lvl, +1 attack, +10 HP Lieutenant: Eberk +500 xp Lieutenant Leveling: none Magic Item Gained: (med).+1 Keen Melee Weapon Magic Item Lost: none
Losing Warband: Gorn (Old Coast/LE) Gorn's Warband: Gorn, Skullsplitter +3 Level ( Belt of Smite +5 [], +1 Armor of Shielding, +1 Melee Weapon +10 Versus Chaos,) Beholder, Lt Ahmad Zhent Fighter (+1 Weapon), Zhent Fighter Assembly Rubble, Broken Wall, Medusa's Lair, Creeping Tangle Warlord XP: +250 XP & +250 CP Warlord Leveling: none Magic Item Gained: (med).Potion of Concealment ([][]Conceal 6) Magic Item Lost: (min).+1 melee weapon
Summary:
Gorn brought his old pal Ahmad, ahmad's brother-in-law's 2nd cousin, and a mammoth floating eye of doom. Walls and rooms were sparse, but there was some cover for advancing unassaulted, so Rodus and managerie moved forward cautiously.
Gorn found south was a griffon ready to pounce, and north was a sizable animated tree in striking range. Gorn siezed the moment and fell back in time to avoid a nasty flanking. Meanwhile, the eye was busy dispensing a disintegrate on the tree. Rodus ordered his units forward, and there were enough blows landed to rout Ahmad's cousin. Rodus himself released acid on Gorn, Ahmad, and the Eye Tyrant.
The eye then took control, passing out the hurt all around with one slide and a bunch of inflicts. Gorn smited the griffon, who flew toward the exit, and the eye zapped the tree again causing the tree to also rout. Rodus resolved to see this out, rallied both of his troops, and landed a few more blows to destroy Ahmad.
Gorn had retreated to a statuary with the mighty eye, and saw the wounded treant and griffon closing, with Rodus plinking from behind them, and the cutthroat changling in between Gorn and the Eye. They had been able to slay Rodus' wolf and Ialdabode who was nearby getting buffs from a statue. The eye blasted the rogue to oblivion, then zapped the griffon nearly to its demise, but in return the griffon pounced on Gorn, critically wounding him. Gorn was crunched, leaving the floating eye on his own. The griffon pounced again, landed one good claw. The treant then reached over some statues to smack the eye. The Beholder had seen enough and floated off toward the exit, leaderless.
Statues: 3 to 0 after 7 rounds
Old Coast choose a tough band, wisely thinking my CG would choose open tiles. Early on I was having dice issues, but later in the game I won a key initiative and had a few natural 20's that Rodus capitalized on. Darn, no trample from treedude this battle! Loser- AngryIrish Commander: Vadania, the Half-Elf Druid Warband: Vadania, the Half-Elf Druid, griffon, graycloak ranger, wolf x3(1 was a minion) XP: 250xp, 250 campagin pts Lt xp: none Item: scroll of silent and still item lost: none
I think angryirish got the better of me in the tile setup. However the dice seemed to be against him the entire game. The game really turned on him when he made a attempt to base my commander and a blue with his griffon on a double move. I threw a spear and landed a crit on him. Then I used inflict moderate wounds and he saved. Since he was already at 40 hp (5 of it was from a saved Destrachan cone earlier) I tried to hit him with my azer. The hit was true and forced him to run as my cleric and a blue both gave him a kick as he ran by (yes somehow both pieces managed to somehow hit him). He saved him next round and I used another cone taking a aoo from 2 wolves to hit the wolves and the griffon. 1 wolf died then the other 2 saved. I thrusted the wolf and it ran so the Destrachan killed it. Next turn I managed to win int again so I attacked his griffon with my Destrachan and hit. I used my trusty azer to attack him again and he came through killing him. From there he charged with his druid and hit my Destrachan. I inflicted her and she passed. I won int and my Destrachan missed. My cleric inflicted again and she failed causing a morale that she passed. In the mean while blues kept thrusting and failing and my routing azer returned from battle. My goblin skirimsher crept around to a statue after a shot at it with his graycloak missed with a natural 1. I invoked the statue and got +2 ac. AngryIrish gave up after this round.
It was a good game, but I wished the dice didnt influence the outcome so much

Great Minds Think Alike (or Fools Seldom Differ...)
Mirror, mirror, on the wall, who has the highest Commander Rating of them all? Well, since we all have to wait until this next week to use the Cleric of Dol Arrah, that would be the Warlord de jour the Paladain of Hieroneous. Usually, my high commander rating helps me to win initiative and control the pace of the game, but not so this time!
Almost all the terrain tiles were on my half of the board and near the center, making for an interesting tactical fight. After the first turn of moving out, I left my warmage next to my SoH, hoping to win init and then move/cast something at AcousticDevil's vanguard. Alas, I lost. Acoustic Devil did a brilliant (IM(h)O) outmanuver: he sent his Warforged Fighter towards my front lines, while moving vertically up the board and casting Melf's Acid arrow at my Warmage, forcing a moral save! Next turn, when I tried to return fire, AcousticDevil pointed out that the Warforged Fighter was closer. Ouch. For once a CLW spell was useful.
Next, after a few rolls for initiative (stay tuned for all the details ;) ) my Warmage scorches the Warforged Fighter for 15... of course the MS is an 18.... I then learned why Aramil is usually a better use of 13 points than a Medium Earth Elemental. I hate spells with no saves.
Next turn, my feeble SoH moves up to base the Warmage and Aramil, while MY warmage finishes off the Warforged Fighter, allowing me to start picking up statue points. Despite the extra hp and +1 to attack (now -1. [:(], things were looking grim when Lady Adriana replaced Aramil at Zadkiel base. Even if I keep hiting the opposing AC 20, I needed 2 hits for every one that he made. My Earth Elemental moved up through some walls to flank, and rolled a lucky 20. [:D] WHEW! Then, a well-placed Orb on the Lady dropped her health to 10.
Now the odds were better, despite having the Elemental weakened by Aramil. Acoustic's Warmage moved back and dropped an orb on Zadkiel, and next turn dropped an Orb on the Warmage, but my protectar was in the area with another CLW. My warmage fired off another Sonic Orb, so Adriana decided that it was time to withdraw. In a classic example of overkill, the Elemental rolls another 20, and AcousticDevil conceeds commanderless. Final score (both kills and statues) 2-0 Redgar.
A fun match, and a good learning experience. (I think I will start using Aramil myself!) AcousticDevil was a patient and gracious opponent, and I look forward to facing him again. Tactical Notes This time, instead of hastily grabbing 4 tiles, I carefully considered my options, and deliberated over the best choiced. In doing so, I neglected to build a warband until 1 minute before go-time! Thankfully, I had chosen terrain around a strategy, so I had some guidelines while frantically sorting stats.
I decided to try and out score, rather than out-kill, my opponent, so I packed PLENTY of statues (10 in fact!), which my warband would try and take advantage of. I have always liked the Warmage, so it and Zadkiel were the band's "core." The Broken Fountain and the Medusa's Chamber had difficult terrain, so I included a fast(er), flying Protectar and a burrowing Earth Elemental. To round out the warband was a mini to be left behind: a Hill Dwarf Warrior.
Speed is not a plus for Lg, but my opponent (I presumed) would be similarly hampered so I placed terrain close to my base. I then moved up to try and score a kill ASAP (which nearly cost me my Warmage). The HDW I moved into the Medusa's chamber and left there until the carnage started, whereupon it could rapidly access half of my statues (and with save +4, it had a decent shot of making the necessary saves.) I had hoped that the Earth Elemental could "hit and run," quickly burrowing under walls to get to the HoH statues while the Protectar could fly to the fountain. As it turned out, this was mostly unnecessary, as I was able to kill the enemy commander fairly quickly.
I enjoyed the match, and learned much... now on to further glory!
And that's the way it was,

Summary:
It was a quick game, over in only 5 rounds. We quickly placed are tiles and started towards teh center. Winning initiative every time Narrack set himself in harms way hoping to win the next initiative. After winning it he based the wizard for an attack but missed due to conceal. On the wizards turn he provoked hoping to get out of harms way to start blasting away with his spells but Narrack was able to overcome the conceal this time forcing a MC. The wizard failing by one started to run and quickly exited the battle. After that it was not hard for Narrack and his minions to clean up the rest of the undead.
Overall it would of been a better match if Boson had made some of the initiative checks. He finally won the last initiative when it was already almost impossible to win at that point. Luck played the biggest part in this game.

Warlord XP: +250 XP & +250 CP Warlord Leveling: none Magic Item Gained: (med) Cloak of one mighty blow +5 [] Magic Item Lost: +1 weapon
Summary:
Thom came out and set up looking for a quick kill with a magic missle. In rd 3 it all began. Thoms song was going strong keeping the orc Champ and ZWD out of their orders. The wizard popped an orc warrior with a magic missle and the catfolk and azers went to work collecting statues. By the end of rd 4 Thom had every statue in the medusas chamber and one in a statue room and hadnt lost a figure. An orc warrior saw a hole and charged an azer taking him out. The orc champ failed to activate a statue and the score was now 6-0. Finally Odge took a statue. Thom creeped a little too close forgetting that Odge could command himself easliy. Odge ran in and smacked Thom, but he stood his ground. A crushing blow from the Goliath and a mindblast from the catfolk later and Odge was meeting the gods. The Champ missed the catfolk a few times and the barbarian stepped up and smacked the champ. and then it all broke down. An orc warrior back door charged Thom, taking him to 5 HP. The zombies chill breath had just enough reach to hit Thom, killing him. The goliath routed the Champ who had no hope of coming back, but missed the orc warrior with both his swing and his reroll. The bugbear and dragon flanked the Goliath and finished him after winning a large init. The wizard ran and hid and kept running. Finally realizing the gods were ending the battle soon, he advanced on the enfeebled ZWD, as it was safer because he would only route on a crit. Thus the battle was won 6-1.
OCs dice werent real nice, and early on mine were for the statue rolls. It ended up closer than I thought it would be, but he didnt have a shot of catching on statues. | | Im out- find me on Hordelings if you want to chat.

Jareth knew battles had not gone his way. He called in a favor from a monastary to borrow a Lion Falcon and armed him with healing powers. The plan was hide behind the heavily aced phalanx and kill someone with magic missle or searing lights. When goblins got close, summon a frog. Jareth had no clue Yrk had under his command an eye tyrant. The plan worked partially. Jareth and Aramil were able to pot off some shots early taking out a goblin and a duergar... before the tyrants all seeing eye showed up. Then the Monk went to work and got a statue upping his ac by 2, Tortoise also went for a statue and got AC +4. Now the plan was get a few more statues while the phalanx absored beholder shots. Then hole up. The Lion Falcon rushed out.. and got disentegrated missing his save and turned to dust. From there it looked all lost for the boys. Splitting the phalanx into smaller groups, Jareth managed to grab a few more statues while the goblins went to work round after round on the 5 in the medusa room. They missed alot thanks to the prayer, but finally got the 5. Tortoise, with screens being ran by his Dwarven brothers got to the opposition starting tile. Finally tied 5 to 5 in rd 10, Tortoise stepped up to the statue and with his +9 roll prayed he didnt fail. He was blessed and made the roll. The beholder and goblins were not near enough to any statue to get there by the end of the round. Thus it ended.
Ouch this was close. Losing the monk hurt. It was interesting to say the least. And this was Jareths first win since boarhunt | | Im out- find me on Hordelings if you want to chat.

| REPORT: Richard II (LE) vs. AngryIrish (LE)
Winning Warlord: Brother Grim the Grim Necromancer (Richard II(LE)) BG's Warband: Brother Grim the Grim Necromancer (scroll), Nox the Thayan Knight (+1 Bleeding Weapon), Skullcrusher Ogre (+1 armor of resistance), Green Dragon (potion of protection [][]), Snig the axe + 3 goblin skirmishers, skeletal dwarf. Rubble assembly, hall of heroes, medusa's chamber, mushroom tangle Warlord XP: +1000 XP & +1500 CP (6750 exp total) Warlord Leveling: N/A Lieutenant: 500 exp to Nox the Thayan Knight (1500 total for her) Lieutenant Leveling: none Magic Item Gained: (major) Ring Gates Magic Item Lost: The totally useless Drums of Cold protection. I had nightmares about trading this in and getting pipes of the sewers. With no bards in LE it woulda been yucky. [:)]
Losing Warband: Kane the Grim Necromancer (AngryIrish (LE)) Gorn's Warband: Kane the Grim Necromancer (ion stone of resist 15 fire), Damien the Thayan Knight (Shield of powerful charge 5, shirt of spell storing), Green Dragon x3, Xill support. Rubble Assembly, statue room, treasure room, scorched passage Warlord XP: +250 XP & +250 CP Warlord Leveling: none Magic Item Gained: (maj) Ring of Concealment (gain conceal 6) Magic Item Lost: (maj) Ion stone of resist 15 fire
Summary:
I'll post a summary tonight or tomorrow, gotta run off to work now. Suffice it to say things looked grim for Brother Grim (heeheehee) until I managed to "sneak" (how do you sneak a large skeleton?) in to base Kane who only had 15 hp left. Kane died and the dragons were reduced to speed 2. He was up like 8-0 on statues at this point, but I had enough time to kill off all his guys.
