Is Dragon's Hoard available for Vassal? Or the Lost Temple (Huge) mat?

I've tried bringing in the Dragon's Hoard, but haven't had success yet because the middle pieces tend to scan slanted which makes it tough to put the whole thing back together.

About including these types of maps, I'm a little torn. I want to keep the mod as small as possible. Currently, there are quite a few objects in the module that I haven't seen used in a long time. I'd hate to double the size of the mod to include maps that would see little use. There are still people that use dial-up to play Vassal. On the other hand, I know that people want as many options as possible. That is how all the extra things were added in the first place. There has got to be a way to strike a balance.

Would you like me to try on my scanner?

what size would be best for this?
I have scanned in the pieces and am going to now try to puzzle it together.

So, how did it turn out? I apologize for the crease marks, but i couldn't scan my laminated one! [)]
There are a few places where the lines are kinda screwy cause i had to rescan a section due to image cropping or a crease that was too bad.

Edit:
Also, per DariusTAD, that scan looks dark ... can you lighten it at all?

Tully, i have a question about the latest mod. You added a center line for the Lost Temple mat. But your center line isn't center ... it makes a 18/16 split. Did you notice that or did you do it on purpose?

Nope, that was an accident. In fact, I don't even think that one needs to be there. Who needs to know where the center line is on the Lost Temple?

Putting a center line on the dragon's hoard might be useful ... they have diff. terrain marked orange to signify treasure for the snatch and run scenario. These could also be used as "tile point" or "victory" terrain possibly as well...

One thing I think that should be considered is trimming out the un-used RPG items, etc. from the mod. About the only one I use (beyond the info marker which you moved - thanks for that) is the skull and cross-bones.

I'm torn on the inclusion or exclusion of some tiles. About a year and a half ago a bunch of folks made some neat tiles but I'd wager they almost never get used. Given the future direction (maps) I think almost that 2 mods are in order. One for the more pure skirmish game featuring only core or secondary items (like things published in Dragon, the Frost-whatever non-legal tiles) and a second with more of the RPG-use stuff. The second would be larger and would satisfy those few individuals who use vassal for less sanctioned play.

The silly fact of the matter is I've NEVER used one of the fan-created tiles on Vassal, nor have I EVER seen anyone else use them. I like them, but in the Vassal mod I think they are wasted space.

Besides, who owns the Vassal mod? Who actually keeps it as up to date as it is? I think it comes down to a very small set of people and I think sampling some feedback here (ie, post questions see who responds) could be as good a method as possible for version control / whatever.

One more curiosity - Any value in my trying to scan in the Flame / Frost templates from the retailer kits and seeing about making them semi-transparent or are we all happy with the black and pink templates?

Also, as soon as I get this month's tile I'll scan it and send your way. Fane of the Drow is due out Aug 24 if the products page is to be believed, so we'd likely have an update needed end of month-ish.

That is a very good point.
I think removing non-legal tiles would give the mod plenty of room to grow for those of us that use it for more serious play.
Even those of us playing EC games don't use much more than legal items anyway ...

I'm real leary of having 2 mods. It was 2 mods once before and was a huge pain to keep up to date. The largest objects in the mod (outside the Dragon's Hoard map) is the RPG tiles. They are all 40-50 KB. If I got rid of them, the mod would easily be under 3 MB. My current version is 4.2MB.

What I will do is log in to Vassal and put a READ ME user out there. Inside I will ask people what tiles they use and tell them that I think there is a lot of things in the mod that people aren't using. The problem I run into is that many people don't think 4 MB is too large for the mod. I'm of the opinion that it will grow very rapidly.

The size doesn't concern me - the playability and clutter does however. I just don't like the waste ...

When I suggested two mods it was more from the perspective of you keep the DDM mod up to date and IF ANYONE ELSE WANTS AN RPG MOD, they do it themselves.

So, one mod more skirmish-focused would be my vote (not that I get a vote - you're the one doing the bulk of the work).

I thin it should be as competitive skirmish play focused as possible. Get rid of the things that you are unlikely to find outside of it.

Yes, removing non-legal tiles would help a lot in that regard i think. And when WarDrums approaches, we will only have figures and maps! Uggg.

There is another Vassal mod called "RPG Mapper" ... I'd reduce the DDM Skirmish mod to just that - keep it small and light-weight.

Beyond the cool skull and crossbones, I'm not sure what other items need to remain.

Keep: Statue and rubble for DDM (beholder & medusa & baaz = statue , stone giant & ice storm spell = rubble).

Add Request: "moved 1" "moved 2" type icon for dual activators.

I like the icons and use them for making custom DDM maps. Some are worthless to me, but a set of thin walls and thick walls, and hindering squares and open squares would allow for customization of maps. I guees I can continue making custom maps from the tiles.

Looking for someone to cosponser a midwest DDM event. let me know if your interested!

Nope, I didn't tweak it after putting it in the mod. I noticed that it was more colorful though too when I was playing on it.
