| I think spell choice should be limited to protect balance:
1) A warlord can only choose a casting of a spell within their chosen magic type (Arcane, Divine, or Druidic) 2) A creature can never have multiple magic types 3) Only a spell that can be cast by at least on creature in the warlord's faction may be chosen 4) A spell that can be cast by only one creature cannot be chosen (for example, Divine Protection is on Eberk only, so it would be off limits).
This would (1) keep special spells special, (2) prevent cross-faction spell poisoning, maintaining each faction's "feel" and themed strengths.
As for cost, perhaps price the choice of a spell twice (or 150% at least) as high as another casting of an existing spell. A sorcerer would have to be dealt with somewhat differently, since they can buy casting slots and spell choice separately. | | There are 10 kinds of people in the world; those who understand binary, and those who don't. I was pretty dead set against the idea of non-spell casters being able to gain to ability cast spells. However, it's probably not an issue if you make the cost high enough. As according to what you have above it would take 5 victory's to be able to cast a 1st level spell that's giving up quite alot. Making the cost too low though I think would grossly break some units but I think you have the right idea. Adding new spells for spell casters is good idea, but I would make the more powerful spells (like RoE, etc ) more expensive despite their level.
