| The starting SPL depends on the creature's highest level spell it can normally cast:
Grim Necro starts as SPL = 5, able to cast 3rd levels spells.
When Grim gains his 1st SPL, he becomes SPL = 6 and gets a 1st level spell. See EC V2 rules, table 1-17. As Grim gains a 2nd SPL, he is SPL = 5+2 = 7, and now gains a 2nd level spell. And so on.
War Chanter starts as SPL = 0 (highest spell it starts with is 1st). When he gains SPL+1, he becomes SPL = 0+1 = 1, and gains EITHER another 1st level casting "[]", OR gains a different 1st level spell to choose from. At SPL+2, he is SPL = 0+2 = 2, and gains BOTH a 2nd level spell and one [] casting of a 2nd level spell (sorcerers gain both a costing and a spell choice when they get their very first spell of a new level).
Again, see Table 1-17 with this description in hand and see if that makes sense. | |

| what about a Bladesinger. Im pretty sure I got this down but just to make sure. Would these stats be right for Saliqui the Bladesinger at lvl 10. Ill put the spells she gains from lvling. She starts at max casting of lvl 2 spells.
1 MW [] RoE [][] 2 Invis [] MAA [][] 3 FB [] EMM [] Haste [] 4 Fireshield [] Shout []
She took the spell mastery feat. She is lvl 7 now, so lvl 8 she gest a 2nd, lvl 9 she gets a 3rd? and lvl 10 a 4th? Is that right? | |

| Saliqui starts at SPL=2 (can cast level 2 spells)
At level 7 she's SPL = 2+7 = 9, add spell mastery so 10. She's gained:
1st, 2nd, 3rd, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 1st. That's 3x1st, 2x2nd, 2x3rd, 1x4th.
At level 10 she's SPL = 2+10 = 12, plus 1 spl msrty = 13 and has gained:
1st, 2nd, 3rd, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th. That's 3x1st, 3x2nd, 3x3rd, 2x4th
What you have looks correct.

Champion of the Prestige Class where mages focus on telekenesis and start throwing people into the ceiling and uber stuff like that.
Desirer of a Commander Effect in CG that grants Sidestep to followers with a ranged attack. | |

See Table 1-17. You are absolutely correct. It's also true the second SPL is always a 2nd level spell. It varies by warlord after that. | |
