Summary: Mandor had initiative throughout the game due to first blood. However, Dara must have missed every conceal check she made, those DAG with conceal 11 are tough. However, Mandor passed every save and spell resistance check which evened things out. It came down to a roll off in the end between a DAG and his conceal and Mandor. Mandor ended up winning, but very close game. Thanks orcmonk!

Summary:
As Cu prepared to enter the mines he had been told would have another item of power, to continue is rise in power, he received word that the Tiefling, Zumeo, was also seeking the item. His thoughts on how to defeat Zumeo, who would no doubt bring his mage minion Hoheneim as well, were interrupted by the Ronin, Ran Long Nu asking if he could serve Cu. Here was someone who would be of great use against Zumeo and so Cu did not pause for a moment in allowing Long Nu to enter his service.

As Cu entered the mines with Long Nu, Mialee and one of his Xeph vassels as a body guard for Mialee, he immediately spied Zumeo. He had brought his underling Hoheneim and five or those abysmal creatures from some underworld. One of the creatures rushed out, one of them hiding behind a wall to the right. Then Hoheneim moved out and summoned four more of them! Cu ordered Mialee to hit one of the summoned creatures with a Magic missile and get into what appeared to be the mine managers old office for now, and the Xeph to move up into a side area, to be able to move up and attack or back and defend Mialee. Cu then saw that the Maw Mialee had hit was on the run. Good!

More of the Creatures moved up and Cu Charged them while ordering Long Nu to do the same. Both Long Nu and Cu destroyed two of the creatures. Zumeo then came up, hiding behind a row of the creatures. Taking the initiative, Cu breathed on toward the creatures, knowing they were not going to be affected, but intending to get Zumeo and Hoheneim. Zumeo shrugged off the acid with minimal damage, but Hoheneim was greatly affected as the acid got into his robes, but his devotion, or perhaps fear, of Zumeo was to great for him to run. Cu then reteated back to a defensive position so he would not be swarmed by the creatures. The Xeph then moved up in front of Long Nu to attack one of the creatures.

Hoheneim then moved up and threw a burning orb at the Zeph and he died right there. Meanwhile Zumeo was calling for the creature that was running, trying to get it to come back, but it keep running and headed out of the mines. Mialee then moved next to Cu and cast a spell, making it easier for Cu to hit these creatures from the neither realms. Long Nu then surprised Cu by running off deeper into the mines, but then he heard Hoheneim calling the Zumeo that Long Nu was next to him. Yes, take out Hoheneim and these creatures he had summoned would return to the plane thay came from!

Cu saw that about half the remaining creatures headed toward where Long Nu must be while Zumeo and the other creatures headed his way. He heard Long Nu cry out in pain, but from the stream of curses that came after it, he could tell Long Nu was now angry.

He heard Long Nu strike down Hoheniem and saw him limp out into the hallway, looking for more creatures to kill. He had Mialee attack the creature in front of him before it could strike at her, but she missed. The Creature then tried to bite Cu, but missed. Be it did succeed in distracting Cu allowing Zumeo to come up behind him and hit him. Cu¡¯s rage ran through his veins and Cu lashed out at Zumeo twice, hitting her and making her run from Cu¡¯s rage. The other creatures moved up and one of them hit Cu again. Everywhere he turned, he was being attacked!

Long Nu charged Zumeo and killed her, not allowing her to get away from him, while Cu killed two of the remaining three creatures. The last moved over and hit Cu again! This was to much, Cu needed to get back to camp and get his wounds cared for. He ordered Mialee and Long Nu to finish of the last creature and then bring the item to him back and camp.

Back in camp Long Nu brought Cu the Magic armor he had found. Having his mystics examine it he was glad to hear the armor would allow the wearer to be able to strike with One Mighty Blow once a day. This would be very useful. A runner then came with some bad news. Zumeo seemed to have survived after all, and had seeked out a merchant of mystical items and had aquired a belt of duality, after giving the merchant his two suits of magical armor. Clenching his fist, Cu swore he would crush Zumeo next time he saw him!

This was a fun game, but hard for Doynus, since Cu and Long Nu would have needed to roll a 1 to miss most of the time, and I would roll a 19 or 20 on the conceal checks on his tiefling. I was upset when I realized he was able to fire orb the Xeph, I was thinking I should have not moved up and let a couple maws move up attack Long Nu, to give me two targets to attack, but then I realized with the speed 12 I could base the cultist, but was much more useful. Zumeo still got to advance, but since Cu ran off the board, He will have to wait another week at least before moving up to level 2, oh well.

The cultist of the dragon should not have been able to wear the +1 armor. In order to wear armor or a weapon the creature must have some form of armor or weapon listed on the RPG side of it's stat card.

I did catch that before we started, We played the game with the cultist as a normal fig, without the +1 ac. (Log uploaded for those who want to see)

Actually, he had brought too many magic items (Warlord level +1) He was level 1, so he should have brought 2, he had listed armor +1, armor +1 of archery and scroll of quickening, but after dropping the armor +1 the cultist had by mistake he had only two. Just realized this, but he would good after the cultist armor drop so game would not have changed.

Looking at it, could I have called foul on the numebr of items, made him not bring the scroll, and then said the armor could not be used by the cultist and return the armor to the warlord? (A**hole tactic, but I could see someone trying it)

I think we handled it best.

I was looking at the mithril mine map when I realized that i ran my commander out an area that is not an exit. The only change this would have made is I would have had my commander still on the board when i kill the last of Doynus's units and won the game. I thought he was off so i only listed the XP/CP for winning, but dying.

Can one of the people handling the running of this (Zippy, AesophDarkfable, Galn if still around) look through the log of my game with Doynus (to confirm I made the mistake) and let me know if I would get the full 1000XP for Shogun Cu to be able to level, and 500 XP for Ran Long Nu, or since I messed up in the game and did not catch it before, am I out of luck?

Well, since AesD posted on this thread about his lieutenant leveling up, I suppose I should say that Narkona the Cleric of Yondalla (or as I have come to think of her, Narkona the Fat Halfling Cow) will be waddling off to her hobbit hole to eat chocolate, butter, and bacon to her heart's content. Stepping up in her place will be Valkerata the Justice Archon, who will now be cost 37, gain CR 1, have the CR effect (that some will disagree with but I like) of +2 AC to outsiders, and will plunder from under Narkona's piggy little eyes the ring of command and the +1 melee weapon of cleaving.

To those that counsel against disliking the cleric of yondalla, or who say that lieutenants striking out as a commanders at only level 2 is problematic, you're right on most counts. For 14 points, it's hard to beat all the spells and adequate CR of the cleric of yondalla, on a cost-benefit analysis. HOWEVER, if I have to play one more game watching Narkona waddle at the insulting speed of 3 squares while casting one of here numerous spells, all the while having an enormous bullseye painted on her breasplate telling other warlords, "Kill me! I'm vulnerable to all sorts of magic, and a lucky charge will kill me outright! Pass the brownies!" I think I'll cry. So, wise or not, good warlord or not, she's out the door!

Summary:
The little Diana was at her first experience in a real battle, she wanted to gain power and kill the Kobold she hated so much. She decided to ask help to her drow twin friend that happened to be Mounted Drow Patrols. These twins asked what the lovely Diana desired, and Diana told 'hem to kill the infamous kobold. They moved sneaky on walls and in the holes with their lizards and finally they succeded to block the Sorcerer before he could cast a single spell. In the meanwhile Whrat the Knight, using his new armor of flight and profiting of the missing patrols managed to attack and hit the lovely Diana. The Sorcerer tried a desperate move, he used his fire bust spell to make as much damage as possible to the two sneaky twins, but the twins where also resistant to spells and managed to avoid the damage. The Sorcerer died in a scream while the Shauagin tried to hit one of the twin before, but he also was concealed and the fish man wasn't lucky. But the thay knight wasn't worried about his commander, he will try to kill all the warband alone, no problem, with this new armor he could be hit not so easily and he could move very quickly. But without the commander he resulted to be much confused on his moves. He managed to make Diana route, but Diana, six feets from the exit, changed her mind and turned back to the battle. The shauagin and the blues were killed easily by the Lizard's bites. Now it was the turn of the thayan. But the thayan was hard to die, and managed to make route also Liscio, that escapes from the battle. At the end, with very careful moves, Ruvido and the Sneaky Kenku managed to kill the thayan with a run, hit and run strategy till the dead. Diana satisfied by his brave Ruvido turns out to find also a beautiful magic belt... his wondrous power jet not known, but she doesn't dubt that it will be useful in the future. Enemies of any alignment, beware the young Diana is coming!

In general mistakes that arent caught in the game like that stand. Without looking at the log that'd be my stand. Sorry bout that.

Hey Zip, can I get Gharag's items updated? He's currently got 3 items that grant immunity to electricity, but they're all worded differently.

Are we good? I think I gained 1000 exp for victory and living through it, so should be at 3500 exp total. Let me know.

Summary: Well, I was expecting Aspects of Lolth, but Richard brought Death Slaads instead. Over the course of the match, Richard cast Haste on 3 different units. His first Death Slaad died trying to stop my Artificer from casting his Mass Shield of Faith. It would have worked, except that he made his morale save and Aramil rayed the Death Slaad so the aoo didn't kill the Artificer. This left that Slaad all by itself.

One Marut moved to flank the Slaad for Lidda, the other moved to attack after getting a Snake Swiftness cast on it. This exposed the Couatl to the other Hasted Death Slaad and the Red Samurai. Fortunately, Garrett was basing the Couatl and was able to cast Protection from Chaos on it. This made his AC25. The Red Sam missed his attack while the Death Slaad hit. Lidda was able to hit the Flanking Death Slaad for 15 damage and the Couatl SS the Marut with One Godly Blow which also hit. The Death Slaad failed morale and died from the Marut that flanked it.

This gave me initiative for the next round. The other Death Slaad was able to get off one or 2 full rounds of attacks but was unable to rend. The driders were too far away to be able to pull it out before I killed it. I ended up losing one of my Maruts and Aramil. Richard conceded when Lidda killed the Red Samurai with the Weapon of Slaying which also got through conceal. He had both Driders and his Tielfling (down to 45 hitpoints) against my full health Marut and a Couatl with 3 spells left.

Summary:

Clank and Slim headed for the Mithral Mines accompanied my some good constructs and a little elf girl. They ran into an evil Mind Flayer and an Aspect of Bane.

Some early dancing and buffing occured as the two bands marched toward the lower side of the central pillar of the mine. The Aspect drank the Duality potion round 1 and traded it for the Thug's armor on round 2. Great move by Veliq!.

A few of Snig's minions died as the Golems moved forward. Then all of Veliq's band ran up around the center column. The Hexblade cursed both Slim and Clank (both ended with 18's on their roll totals). The Gravehounds stunned Slim, but in round 3, one of them was felled by a Mialee magic Missle. Snig boldly moved up to killer her with a throw, but he was quickly splatted by a Golem.

Clank managed to slip away from the other Gravehound, and the Golems moved up to stop the AoB's progress. The fearless Slim eventually fell to blows of the Aspect. Gorthak ran down to stun both commanders. This gave the Golems a chance to both pound on him. He did not last long. Boom, the Warforged Wizard, was ignored after he shot all his spells so he hid as the Golems did their work, destroying the rest of Veliq's band.

The two golems with their large bases and the Aspect's large base prevented the AoB from getting next to Clank (-8 morale save). 150+ points of my warband was fearless, and the two biggest hitters were immune to stun. The gravehounds were more trouble than I thought they would be. Once Clank got the initiative, his biggest flaw (low commander rating) was overcome.

Good game to Veliq. I enjoyed it.

Summary:

Summary:

I won placement init and had Lodgar set up first. He chose side A. I set up to allow a first turn chaos hammer, but he won initiative and moved to minimize the impact. I carefully deployed my forces looking for a chance to grab a few VPs. He overextended his fodder so I snagged one with a ride by attack of my MDP. The beginning of the next round I hit another fodder piece with the MDP which allowed a nicely placed chaos hammer. It seriously injured his hexblade and helmed horror while whiping out the rest of his fodder. Lodgar double moved both fighters in to base my burning skeleton. Thankfully the helmed horror was only dealing 5 damage to it on a hit bc of the dr5 ring. At the end of the round I moved raven eyes in to fight with the helmed horror directly above where Urthok was. The helmed horror also only dealt 5 damage to her due dr and resists. At the beginning of the following round the mounted drow patrol ran in and struck at the distant hexblade which routed to a spot with no LOS to a commander. The burning skeleton tried to fight against overwhelming odds but was just happy to deal his fireshield damage. Urthok and the helmed horror together only put him at 5 hps. I finished the round with a chaos hammer which dealt twenty to Urthok and ten to the horror, then based his Urthok with my slaad. At the start of the next round I only struck with my secondary attack so no deadly rend. The mounted drow patrol came over to wail on Urthok too, but for the next three rounds straight I only manage to hit Urthok twice, despite the flanking death slaad having a 50/50 chance to hit on its first attack! Grrr - it was infuriating. He kept missing as well though, but eventually he felled my slaad, giving Lodgar the initiative. In all this time none of the three fodder units rolled a 19/20 to crit and kill Urthok! The nasty goblin was impervious and started to work on my poor MDP. She held up awhile with her conceal, but she too fell. Things were looking grim that round, but then Raven Eyes rose up and smote Urthok with a natural 20. She then made short work of the helmed horror as EVERY one of the next four fodder attacks rolled a natural 18+. I think like three crits were wasted on the helmed horror in total!

The moral of the story is that the dice bot hates the idea of me leveling my mounted drow patrol.

Summary:

This was a really fun game, lurch was a really good sport. In many ways, he outplayed me, because when I think back on it I made a few tactical mistakes... I still played pretty OK, but he might have been more on the ball throughout play in the match. Mostly, it came down to a few things:

1. His warband was ill-designed to go against mine, as it had a lot of stuns and sneak attacking, and mine had a lot of constructs and things immune to flanking.
2. The ability of burrowing ruled the roost, as Kevin Xornbo and good old Zarnofixus were able to avoid a billion aoos during the game.
3. The fact that I have played the fat, brittle cleric that he has as a commander, and have come to know that no matter how carefully you protect it, and how skillfully you play, an assassin can often find a way to kill it.

So, we marched towards each other on the bottom of the map, both taking our time, a kobold that started off right next to him getting killed quickly. When things started to heat up, and we approached each other, I moved the hh to attack his gold dwarf, and make it so he couldn't base my commander and do his auto hit stun than he was lying in wait for. Indeed, he was able to double move the monk to base the commander, but couldn't hit right away. The mind flayer took that opportunity to burrow away and try to stun the monk, but the monk passed the save. Meanwhile, the hh flew to attack the cleric of yondalla, who took 15 damage but made his MC, then activated sanctuary and moved a bit away. The gold dwarf, other cleric, and Lidda all attacked the hh, but not to terribly much effect.

At this point, Kevin Xornbo was hit by the Jinju, who stunned him to clear the way for the slayer of domiel; however, she failed to hit the stunned Kevin Xornbo, which was the only way she could sneak attack him. SHortly thereafter, Zarnofixus found himself in a bad spot, beset by Jinju and the slayer of domiel, and even though Kevin Xornbo hit Jinju for 20, Zarnofixus found himself trapped between the 2 and stunned as well. He was brought to 30 HP, and made his MC.

At around this point I got a kill, and took over initiative. The hh killed his commander and the gold dwarf in one round, and Zarnofixus and Kevin Xornbo used burrow to tactically retreat. From there, it was a matter of holding off the ooc Jinju and slayer, killing the rest of his fodder, and having the hh finish up his Jinju and the slayer.

My kids have been sick (boy, it's been phun), so my wife hasn't gotten all her homwork done yet, which means she needs the computer today, which means....

I really don't when when/if I'll have time. Don't know what to do about that, other than to jump on if I get some time, and possibly play in short bursts over the course of the whole day, or something (which would suck) or POSSIBLY, MAYBE get it in tonight, if she gets enough done or gets too tired and goes to bed.

Sorry - this week just hesn't worked out very well between us.

Summary: well the game was really unfair for rolls....... The death slaad and the blue slaad had no problem tearing apart the steel predator after it moved in with its Roar. after ever spell and the bad luck of rolling for Darksteed he decide to give up giving me the win. Wasn't really fair the rolls for him and hope are next match will be more even for rolls.

renamed the AesvsBleys log to Boson as thats what it was. The Aes vs Bleys log seems to be missing though and I dont have it. Bleys did you make a copy of that as well? I dont have mine for some reason.

Summary: After placing, I just tried to keep everything back and under cover. Since everything had hide Seliq's many spells and ranged benefits were mostly neutralized. In a bold counter move Seliq ran forward to quickcast sleep on both the bugbear and steel predator. Bonegnasher failed his save and took a siesta. At the beginning of the next round Rikka waylaid right on to the victory area adjacent to my cat and fairly near Orthuk. It was pretty clear that she'd waylay as soon as inits were important and I figured she'd go for an area near the action, but it was still kinda scary to have her to deal with on one front while a bunch of ranged units were marching up to find my hidden units. The kitty nudged Bonegnasher and then took a couple aoo's to move up and roar across Rikka and Seliq. Rikka failed her sonic save and then quite fortunately for me failed her MC. She routed to a fairly hard to access area of the board. I sent Bonegnahser to go and protect my kobold miners from the graycloak's wolf. Seliq RoEd the cat and moved some of his units up. Orthuk stepped over to begin a flank on Seliq and struck the elf for 10 more. The lateness of our game seemed to have taken a toll on Veliq as he left Rikka ooc and she routed off the map. This gave me init, so I moved my predator down to base his HEBI and complete the flank on Seliq. Another lucky break came my way as I rolled a 20 to hit Seliq, dealing 25 damage after the RoE. Seliq was at 20 HP now and Orthuk went to work hitting twice more.

It was a really interesting matchup of different units and I kinda like the scenario, but the init thing means too much hinges on a lucky roll or two in the beginning. Between Rikka and the crit on Seliq the game was pretty stacked against Veliq whose early plays had me sweating.


EDIT: I didn't notice this until just now, but Veliq appears to have brought 6 items to the game, 1 over his limit. It had no impact on the outcome though.

Grrr - it was infuriating. He kept missing as well though, but eventually he felled my slaad, giving Lodgar the initiative. In all this time none of the three fodder units rolled a 19/20 to crit and kill Urthok! The nasty goblin was impervious and started to work on my poor MDP. She held up awhile with her conceal, but she too fell. Things were looking grim that round, but then Raven Eyes rose up and smote Urthok with a natural 20. She then made short work of the helmed horror as EVERY one of the next four fodder attacks rolled a natural 18+. I think like three crits were wasted on the helmed horror in total!

The moral of the story is that the dice bot hates the idea of me leveling my mounted drow patrol.

Essentially I was available during the early part of the week and was on Vassal each night as most everyone can attest to. Thursday and Friday I was away due to the holidays. When I did get home Friday he was not around. Over the weekend he was working so essentially was unavailable when I was due to time difference and my moving. Holidays are a bad time to specify schedules for the games without adding on moving at the same time IMHO. As long as I'm not penalized I don't care. Just something to think about around the holiday times as it obviously made everyone's schedule crazy.
