I swear I read a rule that certain speeds can leap pits.

Please tell me about this

I think the more pertinent question is whether or not any rules in the MHB on leaping pits applis to this week's scenario. My contention is that it says we're playing on the drow-outpost map which has rules for uncrossable pits (except by flight) and there's no distinction in the scenario for allowing pit leaping. Since I don't own a MHB and didn't see any clarification on the scenario, it's a bit difficult for me to prepare for a rule that contradicts the standard map rules.

Taken from MHB Veliq read to us.

- A creature that ends ins movement on a pit square falls into the pit and is destroyed. Slow creatures can't jump over pits, reasonablty fast creatures can jump over narrow pits but not wide ones, and truely fast creatures can jump over even wide pits.

A creature with a speed 5 or more can move into a pit square but then must be able to move immediately onto a square that does not contain a pit; it can't stop on the pit square itself (or else it falls into the pit and is destroyed). A creature with a speed of 10 or more can move onyo two pit squares in a row during a single move but not onto a third.

Creatures without the Flight special ability that get moved onto a pit square by an effect such as Slide or Push/Pull (see the glossary at the end of this chapter) can make a DC 20 save if they are adjacent to a square in which they could legally end movement (and the square does not contain a pit). If the save succeeds, move the creature to that square. Failure destroys the creature. (Creatures with Flight that get moved onto a pit square by such an effect must move off on their next turn.)

For DDM we use the rules Aesoph said. Basicly Pits=Non passable unless you have flight.
