Somehow, the golem misses when the Djinni takes off to leave half the enemy behind. Meanwhile, the ogre sees an opportunity and tosses his boulder. The healer flies straight into it, smashing her full in the face and somehow she continues her trust in Santee's plan, and decides to heal herself up and continue to fly across the battlefield. Some orbs fly into the Duerger, while the chaotic outsiders take all the blows they can on Orthuk. Wicca succeeds with every swing she takes at him, and finishes him off while taking a decent amount of damage herself, but coming out the victor. A little more clean up, which Wicca falls in the midst of, and the rest of Orthuk's band decides to run for the hills, preparing themselves for the day when they return to enact their revenge upon Santee.

Hey! I was sure that 3rd level required 4000 xp... I was confused! I will take toughness as my feat.

BTW, I just double check my last game with Boson, and I made a mistake. Boson gained a +1 shield, not a +1 melee weapon!

English is not my 1st language. Shall not be the last either.

Magic Items Used or Traded:

Summary: When I learned that I would be facing Lodgar, I was worried after watching his 28 AC, speed 8 flying Urthok's victory the week before. Lodgar played a good game, making no major mistakes. Rolls had the biggest effect on the outcome of this game.

Lodgar won placement init and wisely bid me to go first. Placement was neutral in favor, and fortunately I was able to start off with all units under the command of Silas. With the split, however, I knew I had 1 chance: kill Urthok as soon as possible.

First round, I won initiative and went first. My Renegade Warlock damaged Urthok with an Eldritch Spear, and Veldrin's range attack missed him. Urthok and his Chraal advanced toward the treasure room. Lilly the Longstrider ran halfway across the map and based Urthok, and Silas moved forward to put the Chraal out of command with his improved countersong, then blurred himself. Logdar's hulking Iron Golem's footsteps shook the ground as it slowly approached from the other corner accompanied by a posse of Goblins.

Before init, Rikka joined the fray from the celestial planes to assist Silas and his party, flanking Urthok with Lilly. I won init and Rikka hit Urthok with her shocking burst, dealing a devastating blow. Lilly was only able to hit with one attack. Not suprisingly, Urthok made his morale save, and made a full attack on Lilly, his first strike connecting with a Godly Blow, but his second strike missed. His Chraal then attacked Lilly twice and only connected once. The Warlock and Veldrin targeted the Chraal with spell and arrow respectively, doing 15 damage to the monsterous creature. The Golem's heavy footsteps grew louder as it approached along with the Goblins. Silas cast True Strike on himself and darted into position to finish off Urthok next round with a nearly unerring blow.

Next round, Lodgar won initiative, which would save Urthok's life. Urthok immediately took off and hid behind a screen of goblins and the Golem using his shield of flight, but not without taking two successful AoO from those who flanked him. Urthok escaped with 5 HP remaining. Then his Chraal breathed his chilly breath on Silas, Lilly and Rikka. Silas took full damage but still stood, Lilly saved and the 5 damage she took would cause her to panic and flee, despite her +18 morale bonus. Rikka was unscathed. Silas moved to rally his fleeing companion, and the Warlock, who had become seperated from the group, flew back to join him. A pair of goblins moved to defend their injured commander. Rikka based and attacked the Chraal and critically missed. Fortunately, she was not the only one to roll a 1, for the Iron Golem that then approached and attacked her critically missed. Snig and a Skirmisher approached Rikka. Then Veldrin the Xen'drik Champion hit a skirmisher with a ranged attack after finding cover.

Next round, Lodgar won init and his Golem hit Rikka, then his Chraal, confused by Silas's bardic music moved toward the War Chanter, taking an AoO from Rikka and making his morale save, despite being out of command. The Warlock flew down to use his Eldritch Spear on Urthok next round if need be and then Rikka flew down and took a swing at the tank of a Hobgoblin. Her blade swung true, and finished off the commander. The Chraal and Iron Golem were made useless, leaving a posse of Goblins opposing Silas and crew. The rest, I'm sure you can imagine.

Good game, Lodgar! A slight change in the dice and it could have been a VERY different outcome. I look forward to playing you again!

And in the quickest reign of a promoted lt ever, Cat Benetar retires because she sucks and reliance on a 15 (even 16 at next level) mindthurst that is all or nothing sucks, its great for a lt and a threat, but when its your warlord its not as fun. So she is nomore.

Im out- find me on Hordelings if you want to chat.

REPORT: Cat Benetar (AesophDarkfable - CG) vs. Lidda Adventurer (tullywi - CG)

Victorious Warlord: Lidda Adventurer (tullywi - CG)
Warband: Lidda (+1 Armor of Striding, +1 Weapon of Cold), 2x Xen'Drik Champion, 3x Wild Elf Raider, Ialdabode, Talenta Halfling Tiles: Assembly Tile Rubble, Assembly Tile 6, Spike Stone Cave, Torture Chamber (Split: Lidda, Xen'Drik, 2 Wild Elf Raiders (49)/Talentia Halfling, Xen'Drik, Wild Elf Raider, Ialdabode (51))
Warlord XP/CP: +1000 XP (Total 3750) / +1500 CP
Warlord Leveling: Lidda is now Level 3. She will take 10 more hit points, +1 Attack, +1 Level and will take the commander feat Resistance (Save +2)
Lieutenant: Hobbes the Xen'Drik Champion
Lieutenant XP: +500 XP (Total 500 XP)
Lt Leveling: NA
Magic Item Gained: (Med) +1 Armor of Blinding (DC14 [] blindness to adjacent enemies)
Magic Items Used or Traded: NA

Vanquished Warlord: [green]Cat Benetar (AesophDarkfable)[/red]
Warband: Cat Benetar (+10 HP +2lvl +cold ray, +cold push, +1 armor of ethrealness, amulet of medium cold resist), Dromite Wilder, Half-Ogre Barbarian, Xeph Warrior, rubble assembly, assembly 6, zigzag, torture chamber.(split Cat and Half-Ogre/xeph and Dromite
Warlord XP: +250 XP / +250 CP
Warlord Leveling: NA
Magic Item Gained: (Min) Potion of Animal Handling
Magic Items Used or Traded: NA

Summary: This was a tough one. I won tile initiative and had Aesoph go first. I was able to limit LOS between Aesoph's assembly tiles. Aesoph won the opening initiative and felt like he had to take it even though he was out activated. He moved Cat to put his Dromite in command. I was able to hit the Dromite for 5 damage from Lidda. His Half-Ogre failed a save against Iaboldode's Mind Thrust (Aesoph didn't make ANY saves this game). After Aesoph moved his Dromite to safety (and cast conceal on it), he moved his Xeph to help protect the Dromite. I was able to move and hit his Dromite with Hobbes (Xen'Drik Champ) for 5 damage and kill his Xeph with a charging Wild Elf Raider. I was able to put 10 damage on the Half-Ogre with my other Xen'Drik Champ (Calvin) and moved my 2 remaining Wild Elf Raiders into closest positions to his units.

Aesoph won the 2nd init and thought that his Dromite's wild electricity surge was range 6. I pointed out it is only 4 after he had rolled to double the damage. Instead, he killed one of my Raiders with the Dromite's Cold Ray. He then moved Cat up and tried to mind thrust another Wild Elf Raider. The Raider made his save, but Cat failed her save against Psychic Enervation. One of my Wild Elf Raiders charged the Half-Ogre and hit for 10 damage. Ialdabode used another mind thrust on the Half-Ogre which failed again. The Half-Ogre also failed the morale check. This caused him to route off the board because he hadn't activated yet. I used my remaining units to attack the stunned Cat Benetar and knocked her down to 35 hit points.

Next round, I won initiative and was able to attack the stunned Cat Benetar for another 15 damage. She failed her morale check. Cat unstunned. The Dromite used the Wild Surge electricity surge and rolled a 1. At this point, Aesoph conceded.

Sorry about the bad rolls Aesoph. Good playing otherwise.

Warlord XP: +250 XP / +250 CP
Warlord Leveling: None
Magic Item Gained: (Min) +1 Armor
Magic Items Used or Traded: None

Summary:
Well I won the 2nd game between doynus and me this week. When I found out about his Aspect, I knew I had to keep it out of the game as long as I could. I won tile initative and placed first. I placed the Mummy¡¯s Crypt by his assembly tile 3 to block LOS to his other assembly tile. He returned the favor by placing his Shrine to block my assembly tile 3. I placed the scorched passage with the long wall next to the long wall of his rubble assembly tile to force his units closer to my units (hoping he did not put the aspect there). Doynus put his mushroom tangle next to the shrine to slow me down if I came out the hole in the wall of the shrine. I then put my mind flayer and hexblade in Assembly tile 3 as far from his assembly tile I could, knowing that I could get out to get the rest of my units in command on the first turn. Doynus placed his Aspect on his tile 3 and I placed the rest of my units along the short side of my rubble tile, so he would not be able to charge me with Brute. I won the init for the first turn and I tried to put a Hexblade curse on the Aspect (which failed) and moved both the Hexblade and warlord out along the top of the board (above the mushroom tangle) out of sight of the Aspect. Doynus then had his warlord quickcast his summon, bringing in a medium earth elemental and then tried to paralyze Lrusk. I saved, and he moved his warlord over trying to get in position to put the aspect under command. He brought Ragnara down, to block me from getting at his commander (or maybe bait for something for Brute to attack). I ran the gravehound up and hit Ragnara, who failed her stun save. I then ran my duegrar up to base his warlord. He brought Brute out and attacked the duergar, but missed. I had Lrusk DD up to flank his warlord and he had the Xeph move and attack, hitting Lrusk. I won the next initative and after much thought had Lrusk attack his warlord. I hit forcing a morale check that he failed, enabling the Duergar to hit on the AoO killing him and making the elemental disappear. I then moved the Duergar to attack Ragnara and cleave into Brute. I had moved Lrusk off after attack his warlord, and his Xeph got a crit on the AoO (I was not happy with that). Brute than use the thundering strike to kill the gravehound, and moved the aspect up.

Magic Item Gained: (Maj) +1 Armor of Sprinting and Quick Striking
Magic Items Used or Traded: (Min) Potion of Invulnerability, (Med) Ring of Fortune Striking

Summary:

The battlefield ended up with both short sides blocked from each other. Krawd & his pinata (er, gauth), backed by the helmed horror and duergar, started in a very boxed in corner, hoping the terrain would provide protection and fire control for the gauth. This did not work out, as Bertha's Iron Golem ethereally strolled through walls to move up and whack the bloated orb [MC success! Krawd's toughest MC at +18]. The gauth swung around a corner at the top edge of the battlefield, while Krawd and his melee beaters flanked the golem. The couatl launched all its orbs at Krawd, and the golem pounded him, until he was very bloodied. The archon moved into position to harrass the helmed horror.

Meanwhile, the Chraal moved in to breathe on Bertha and her wing guards. Caligo cast fire resistance on the chraal and enfeebled the dragon samurai. Bertha went to work landing almost every shot on Krawd's iron golem. As the battel matured, the monk broke away to address the gauth. In reserving his godly blow and unavoidable strike, he missed the gauth 3 of 4 strikes and ended with the gauth burning and finally paralyzing the monk. Ignavus flew up to polish off the wiley monk. Bertha and the dragon samurai headed across the field toward the main battle group, hounded by the chraal along the way. Among the dead at this point were Krawd's golem and the monk, dalelands militia, and earth elemental from Bertha's team.

With waning health, Krawd sprinted south through a wall to nestle among less armored fodder. The vampiric axe began felling minor enemies and giving Krawd much needed rejuvenation. The archon swept wouth to address Krawd. At the same time the couatl boldy flew up to dispatch the gauth, but was couterattacked and obeyed bertha's rout command. Now Krawd had a couatl, highly armor buffed archon, and a few fodder nearby. A melee cluster of the remaining elements of the two armies clashed on open ground, while Krawd called Caligo and those two struggled to open some wounds on the archon and couatl.

Krawd decapitated the flying snake and turned his attention to the archon - he was a single blow away from dying with the viscious justice strike working against him. Krawd finally started to control the flow of battle. He chopped the archon down and retreated through a wall, while the duergar notched his maul for a samurai kill, and cleaved into Arty. Arty had done his work, rusting the helmed horror, summoning an elemental, and buffing his warband in several ways. Krawd's remaining forces now tried to block and smother Bertha, whose armor encasing was difficult to breach [AC=29, much lower

Including (Med) Ethereal Helm from V1 - who remembers having ethereal on both Medium and Major power tables? Those were the days!

Saliqui and Brother Grim can always keep each other company at level 10. And Bertha, of course, will be there. Give me a little time and the Green Wyrm will be there too, perhaps.

Well, it was a quick match indeed. I was ready to let Jinju go ape in melee with his 75 HP, 27 AC, and +12/+12 attacks with buffing, but surprisingly the monk didn't get into melee fast enough! Things started quick, the Justicator flew in and split my Man at Arms in twain. That made Grod angry... and you wouldn't like Grod when he's angry! Grod's hammer connected on the Justicator with a firm THUD while the Couatl Sonic orbbed it. Lord Jamros buffed his troops and Jinju came out just far enough to not get enfeebled by Aramil. Lidda and Mialee hid on the Assembly Tile with Lord Jamros (who was actually charging forward, just REALLY slowly...).

Next round Lord Jamros took init and Grod landed a fierce crit on the Justicator, followed by another Sonic Orb from the Couatl, who then moved to absorb the Magical assault from Laucio and the Spiker. Then, Lidda sprang out of hiding and sniped Aramil, followed by Mialee's Magic Missile, which routed the Elf Sorcerer. At this point, the Justicator had to retreat for healing while he could, but Grod's wrath was too great, and yet another hammer strike found its mark on the Justicator, felling the mighty winged being.

At this point Aravis conceded, since he still had Jinju to deal with, and a still mostly healthy Grod. I was a bit surprised, but that was his decision to make I guess.

Obviously Grod deserved the Lt. XP, so he gains a level, huzzah! Lord Jamros is on a tear, he's already got as many wins as one of my other warlords (ALRIC! [:(!], but he's gaining on Urthok FAST) and he has as many Lts. with levels as my other two warlords put together.

REPORT: Doynus (CE) vs. Emptykay (CG)

Victorious Warlord: Zumeo Tielfing Captain (Doynus)
Warband: Zumeo Tielfing Captain, Hoheneim Cultist of the dragon (quickened medium scroll, ring of burrowing), Ogre ravager (belt of duality), Minotaur, 4 Abyssal Maws

Warlord XP/CP: +1000 XP (5000 XP) / +1500 CP (7000 CP)
Warlord Leveling: +10 hp +1 attack +1 CR
Lieutenant: Hoheneim Cultist of the dragon
Lieutenant XP: +500 XP (2000 XP)
Lt Leveling: +5hp +1SPL +[Τnd (sorcerer) +CR 0 Commander Effect : Followers gains Pushback
Magic Item Gained: (Med) Collar of Elves Turning
Magic Items Used or Traded: N/A

Vanquished Warlord: Shogun Cu (player)
Warband: Units: Shogun Cu (Warlord) with +1 Armor, Ran Long Nu (Longstrider Ranger) with +1 Armor of One Mighty Blow and Ring of Minor Fire Resistance, Renegade Warlock, Large Air Elemental (Linked to Cu). Support Troops: Ragnara, Psychic Warrior, Ialdabode, Human Psion.
Tiles: Rubble Assembly Tile, Assembly Tile 6, Mushroom Tangle, Creeping Tangle
Warlord XP: +250 XP / +250 CP
Warlord Leveling: +1 attack +10hp + Point Blank Shot (feat)
Magic Item Gained: (Med) +1 Shield of Shadow (hide)
Magic Items Used or Traded: (Min) +1 Armor

Summary:

My split was :
Team A: Ogre Ravager, Zumeo, Abyssal Maw A 64 points
Team B: Minotaur,3 Abyssal Maw, Hoheneim 61 points
And Emptykay split was:
Group 1: Shogun Cu, Large Air Elemental, Ragnara. (3 units/68 pts) Group 2: Ran Long Nu, Renegade Warlock, Ialdabode. (3 units/69 pts)
First we placed maps and we did all we can to block LOS to assembly tiles, so that game seams to be 2 fights separate, Team A vs Group 2 and Team B vs Group 1. First because of the LoS to commander Group 2 of empty was out of command, my ogre ravager with his belt of duality was seeing Ran Long Nu who was attacking his commander Zumeo when he see it he go to fight him with a smite and cover for Ran that wasn't really easy but success and mc for Ran that he made so ravager duality and make 2 other attack with cover same and made it with luckRan die and made his group 2 to weak (only spellcaster) for Ravager who took no damage but Zumeo was only at 15 HP. While the warlord and Ogre fight another is going on where all maw and Minotaur go all around elemental (yeah i'm sick i know Whirlwind Attack but only wanted it failed mc) and yeah elemental failed his mc and the minotaur made all his attack on Shogun. That was game i assume thats i had a lot of luck when empty didn't have at all sry for that but that was a great game.

STATS UPDATED TO HERE - CHECK 'EM!

Doynus / CE - Hoheneim does not gain a commander effect unless you promote him to warlord (and retire Zumeo). Let me know if this is what you want to do - otherwise he just gains CR=0 as in the updated stats.

Thanks!

SilentG,

Did a little statistical analysis on the game, just FYI:

Deoxy:
Rolls: 78
Total: 667
Average: 8.55
1s: 9
10 or higher: 32
20s: 3 (2 of which were negated by conceal)

SilentG:
Rolls: 49
Total: 527
Average: 10.75
1s: 1
10 or higher: 28
20s: 1 (an init roll, IIRC)

So yeah, it was pretty bad, but I didn't actually break 10 1s. No artifact of ultimate power for me... Heh. Though you'll notice that I rolled 1s over twice as often as statistically expected. The cursing of the lurkers (regarding my rolls) was fairly entertaining, too.

Looking forward to a rematch sometime.

Summary:

Was a good and fairly game, but i won a lot of init and slaad didn't hit like he could and i didn't a lot of spell resist i think only one, so fireballs first turn is good, happily because kurk was dead a few time after his fireball, also wrath died, but a lot of critique at the end and no conceal missed by me made the game (i did 5 critique in less than 40 rolls when he had the tielfing :)). Really great game and sry again for the bot veliq cya.

There is something about AC 27 monks that is just sooo wrong. And how many times did I say LSoF due to a miss by 1 on an attack roll!

Very fun game Bleys. Inits were easy for me to win (with a CR 1), but hits were hard to come by.

Well, just hope that you don't catch up to Lord Jamros too soon. With his new found Ring of Protection +2, he'll have an AC 29 monk running around for a while.

Summary: The game started off with Deoxy making a great play, which I unthinkingly left myself wide open for. Somehow I started my commander and RoE toting deathlock bordering a feature tile with Rikka waylaid. He put her down basing them both, won init, and proceeded to move his GDS Lt down to view the spot where Rikka was, bigstep him to also base both commander and deathlock, then quickstrike the deathlock for 25 damage and cleave into an abyssal maw for another first turn kill. He then moved his Couatl away to prevent the AoL from rushing it. I moved Raven Eyes away from her certain death and thus began the incredible statistical anomalie that this game was. He hit with Rikka and barely passed coneal, but missed with the GDS, and that 20 pts was the only damage dealt to Raven Eyes all game. From there the game became a fodder slaughter as I used all my orc warriors to tie up charges on the better units while beating on his couatl with Lolth and the MDP. He ran Aramil over and proceeded to fail 4!!! spell resistance rolls in a row to RoE her. This game nearly gave me hypertension, as almost from the first I should have lost. He won a good majority of the innits and most seemed critical, but without fail Deoxy would roll between a 1-4 for attack and if he did hit it was a 20, but then he'd miss conceal.

I just ran through the log to get an idea of the rolling:

conceal - deoxy made 3 rolls, missed with 8! That's 73% conceal rate instead of 25%. Virtually three times higher than it should have been over 11 instances.

Deoxy rolled 9 ONEs throughout the game. 4 were on conceal, 1 on innit, and 1 on his GDS Lt's first rally check (after he rolled a 2 on his initial MC also - +17 MC).

Deoxy rolled 4 TWOs, 3 THREEs, 2 FOURs with those being a mix of attack rolls and conceals.

He rolled several 20s as well, but all but one failed due to conceal. The one that hit was on Lolth for 40! damage.

The game was finishing up with Raven Eyes at 50 hps vs Velma at 50, Scooby the GDS at 5, and Aramil with no spells at 20. Raven Eyes won innit and rolled a 20 to kill the GDS. Then Velma and Aramil proceeded to miss her for 7 ROUNDS IN A ROW! Velma had a +14 to hit ac 17 with conceal 6 and Aramil needed a 20 due to DR - so Velma missed 6/6 or hit 0% when she should have hit 67.5% (counting conceal). Raven Eyes took 0 damage, while hitting Velma 5/7 times or 71.4% instead of the 55% she

Yah, I'm a little surprised that your average is so high. It effectively was less though because two of those 20s were negated, as well as a substantial number of your high (hitting) rolls. Check up in my anaylsis at your conceal checks - you ONLY succeeded on 3 conceal rolls out of 11 (that I counted).

Bare in mind too, that your innits were generally MUCH better than your other rolls. Your analysis doesn't do your bad rolling justice man! If you just rolled a generally decent game I would have had virtually no chance after the first turn when you based Raven Eyes and Moribund. I might as well have just given you the game right then.

I'd love a rematch where I could say neither of us rolled very different from the other. As is, this is about the most hollow win I've ever had. :)

Actually, it was only 3 SR fails (for 3 attempts) - I used 1 magic missile on an orc.

And you left out the 3 MC fails in a row at +17 on the 2 GDSs. That was something to behold (judging by the ALL CAPS comments from the spectators).

I actually hadn't realized how bad the Velma/Raven Eyes ending beatfest was... I thought it should have been close, but you're right, it should have been a fairly decisive smackdown (the other way), too. Is there some kind of "special" prize for this? An "I'm a LOSER" T-shirt or something? :-)

(Note to self: next time, alternate rounds swinging, go invis on the off rounds for conceal 11 and an additional +2 to hit. Heh.)

Orcmonk - actually, I did that because the spectators and/or SilentG had thought (can't remember who was keeping the total) I was up to 13 1s, and I thought that was a bit high. If you (or anybody else, actually) wants to analyze a game like that, the easiest way is to paste the entire log into Excel, then sort it, then delete everything that doesn't start with "*** 1d20 =" (or whetever that text is). If you're good with Excel, you can then parse those lines out to show name and number, but if you're not, it's fairly simple to do it by hand, too. It DOES remove the numbers from context (such as the 20s that were negated by conceal or the multiple +17 MC failures in a row), but it gives the general idea.

FYI: statistical average for an infinite number of 1d20 rolls is 10.5

Summary: The battle started with the armies split against the landscape. Solon and his friend Abraham we slotted off near the warlady Sel`indra and he Orc Warrior infantry and some conscripts. While the Xen'drik and an Orc Brute waited off to the other corner an oozing mass crept out of the End Game and toward the lawful cleric and his men. It's taste for dwarf flesh misunderstood by the Orcs they knew they would be safe. Solon knew his troops would be outmanned and slow moving and his opponent has speed on his side. In defense he ran to the corner toward his seperated troops casting a Shield of Faith on Abraham along the way. Abraham followed as he could. Sel`indra and her Orc Warriors moved in able to command her Xen'drik and Brute ordering them to surround Solon and Abraham. Solon narrowly escaped as Abraham stay back to defend his warlord. Soon he was surrounded on all sides and changed his name to Custer. The luck of the gods was against Sel`indra as many of her troops could not make contact with the single Gold Dwarf, his faith was with him. Swing after swing Sel`indra army swung and Abraham's prayers were answered for a while as his life was spared. Even the Ochre blob attempted to join in but it was slow and not adept at striking around walls. Solon continued along to find his wayward troops and commanded them to help their brother in arms. Sadly the outnumbered Abraham was contiually stuck down as the god Gruumsh must have finally heard their call though not before Sel`indra and her Xen'drik Champion were sorely wounded. George and Thomas happy to see their warlord ran into to engage the Xen'drik and one of many Orc Warriors to come. Swing after swing the battle turned as the Gold Dwarf Soldiers killed many an Orc though not all were worth the effort. Solon cast many Major Resistances to his battle hungry Dwarves and many Commands to the lowly Orcs but they were far too enraged to be tricked by his holy magics. The Xen'drik asking Lolth for a blessing as well was too nimble and strong to be hit by their cleaving assaults. Soon Sel`indra's forces were dwindling and she had to engage the Dwarves as well. This proved to be her undoing as she perished and then eventually the Xen'drik was taken down by the powerful hammers of the Gold Dwarves. The Ochre Jelly sat patiently ignoring the nasty tasting Orcs and could not ooze it's way to the yummy dwarves until after they were all beaten. The Ochre ooze moved in and began to strike down on the Gold Dwarf Soldiers though they retaliated finding it rather easy to strike but often the creature oozed up their hammers as the met the gooey monster and tore into them with it's acidic pseudopods. The Jelly was often quick and struck faster than the Dwarves showing it's chaotic and unpredictable side. Thomas was somewhat creeped out by all of this and ran away as it hit and caused him an unusual pain though he did rethink his fear when Solon ran in to engage the Ochre monster so he turned around to charge in and attack. George did so as well and the battlefield was theirs for the day. Solon was granted a boon of a magic Sheild of Invulnerability and a magic Bless spell for him and his troops to gain even more battle prowess. Lolth soon with no knowledge to Solon and his new Lieutenant George the Gold Dwarf Soldier resurrected from the dead the lithe drow Sel`indra and she snuck off the battlefield snaging some magic armor and swearing revenge.

The dice were very erratic tonight and sometimes the dice gen just seemed to mock us both as if to say "I roll just to annoy you". It was pretty funny and all around a good game. I was very worried in the early going as he had me cornered though thankfully not based or trapped. It would have been a much shorted game had he done so. After beating the Xen'drik down a bit I couldn't hit it for all the tea in China for a few turns. Plus the Jelly came very close to killing my remaining dwarves. Pretty close game.

Summary:

Dispair cleverly set up a corridor near his entry onto the field, and used his summon to hide in a protected corner. The monk ran at amazing speed to break through the line of zhentarim and zombie, while Plango and Lachesis (GDS) crossed over the open terrain from the other direction - Lachesis using the flight shield to pop in on the necromancer. The minotaur skeleton failed to connect with the dwarf and his mighty magic shield, so Lachesis hacked the zombie, cleaved into the necromancer, and now with an exit available Dispair bolted, only to be smashed down by the monk on his way out.

As the minotaur vanished, the monk moved down to engage the onrushing duergar and zhentarim. Plenty of strikes and blows were exchanged (I failed 4 conceal checks, including the unavoidable strike of course, but the duergar failed to connect, often by 1 or 2, on many blows). In the end the githzerai lost his resolve and ran off (by Plango's rules thereby forfeiting his share of the pay entirely), and Plango was unharmed while his dwarf pal was stirred but not shaken.

Excellent albeit fast game, Voss! This was a tough week for Grim and a tough matchup. When I looked up your warlord this afternoon I switched my preliminary warband choices (no level mister Xorn, sorry!) and sighed in relief. Grims get wicked after 3 levels, though, so I'm sure he'll be back for vengeance!

There are 10 kinds of people in the world; those who understand binary, and those who don't.
