Scenario: Chamber of Dread
ETERNAL CAMPAIGN STANDING INFO:
- Eternal Campaign Rules V2 contain a number of variations and additions over the Casual Rules and the Skirmish Campaign rules on page 111 of the Miniatures Handbook.
- Frequently Asked Questions can be found in this thread.
- New Rule Suggestions can be recommended for EC V3 in this thread.
- Log files can be viewed here and should be sorted by week #. Upload log files here, ensure the filename begins with the week number and identifies both players.
- Stats and Standing are posted here or the Eternal Campaign link at the top tight of this site. It is each players responsibility to ensure their stats have been correctly updated and to post clarifications to any ??? left by the admin
- Scenario information for the current round can be found here.
- Deadline to post the status of your matches for the week is Sunday midnight EST (GMT -5). Deadline to sign up for the new week is Sunday 4 PM EST (GMT-5). New schedules will be posted by Monday midnight (GMT -5). If you sign up late for a new week, please post AND email the admin – there’s a chance you can get squeezed in to the schedule anyway.
- Alliances and everything to do with them, including creating, breaking, and trading items should be posted here
- Hall of Fame is posted here. If you think he is worthy, nominate your warlord for the Eternal Campaign Hall of Fame.

| Brother Grim the Grim Necromancer (Richard II (LE)) is going to retire.
Nox the Thayan Knight is going to take up the torch so to speak. Nox will take with her Soontobe the Chraal and Narolg Foehammer as lieutenants as well as the Amulet of Charisma, +1 flaming melee weapon, and the shield of vision. It's too bad he can't take the armor of invulnerability as well, but oh well. I'll write up a little blurb tonight on how Nox came into her inheritance.
Whoops, forgot the sort of important part. Will take the +5 cost and in return nox gains +1 CR and Warband Building: LG humanoids (human) are allowed in your warband. | |

| | Zippy, I don't think your Drow Arcane Guard is eligible to take the Empowered Spell feat. It specifies that you need to have taken at least one SPL to take those feats (quicken, empower, spell mastery, etc). | |

Summary:
Ah, the classic good cleric of lathander vs the evil cleric of gruumsh. The Gods definitely favoured the side of good, allowing me to win almost all of the inits which allowed me to control the game. I managed to stun his cleric of gruumsh and then bang on my drums. Both the deathslaad and blue slaad failed the morale saves and the blue slaad was close enough to make it off the board. I then finished off the CoG and the OW and died previously to the badger (cute lil guy) and aramil's mm and a SL from the CoL. Then it was just mop up as I healed up and let drakkengi's deathslaad come to me. The game ended fittingly on a 20 by the gith monk. Knocked that slaad all the way back to Limbo or wherever it is that slaad's live.
Good game drakkengi.
EDIT: Hmm, I forgot my prayer spell. I knew there was something I was supposed to cast the 2nd round. I really need to start reviewing my warlords stats before games. | |

Summary:
The battle started badly for Gransh, when one of his Xen'drik champions turned cowardly in the face of Verash's acid arrow barrage. Gransh started to manuever his warband more carefully to avoid the ongoing spell barrage, eventually moving himself into harms way to shield his cowardly followers. Mialee and the lantern bearer died to Xen'drik arrows, and Gransh and his Xen'drik killed the badger, but then got engaged with the real meat of Brother Sis'tar's warband, with Verash, the wyrmling and Sis'tar himself entering combat. When the second Xen'drik proved as cowardly as the first when faced with Verash's spells, Eddon came out of hiding to rout the wyrmling, and Gransh smashed it flat when it tried to flee. Sis'tar bravely moved to engage Gransh, and struck him a blow, but Gransh proved braver than his Xen'driks and stood and returned the blow. Brother Sis'tar saw the better part of valor and retreated to a better position near his warmage. Gransh and Eddon gave chase and eventually finished off the pair.
This game was actually the second one we played, and it started off really badly for Gransh. The dicebot had been cold for the entire first game, and stayed that way for the first part of the second one. But eMpTy Kay's comment that he feared the dicebot karma when fortunes reversed proved prophetic, and I got some good rolls toward the end of the game, to pull out the split with eMpTy Kay for the week. | | | |

Summary:
Well, this was not Wishes game. In the first round, he could not hit anything, and one of his militia routed, missing morale by one. The second round had an Elf warrior roll a 20 to hit another Militia. My Wolf and his Azer also died in the second round. The third round I actually won initiative (Cmdr 1 vs Cmdr 8 of all things) and I had the Chitine that was basing his Militia attack, and it misses all three attacks. My MDP took out his Village Priest and based his last Militia. Aeriden then rolled a 20 against the Swarm of Spiders. [:o] And Boltz charged and killed an elf warrior. I took a couple of shots at Boltz, and then he killed my Chitine. Rache then moved down and around and rolled a 20 in his ranged attack on Boltz. [:o] That was three deaths from 20s! The fourth round he won and moved his warlord in to base the MDP. He had his militia charge the MDP but missed, due to conceal. I then finished the round by having the Greycloak and Rache kill the two Militia and the MDP took two attacks on Aeriden, hitting both times. Wish won initative the next round and missed the MDP due to conceal and conceded. Wish got his revenge in our next game, and he got a better magic item, so I am not feeling too bad for him. [:D]

Voss, you must not be getting ANY of my emails. I have sent you out emails each of the three times we have played in the last month. I havent received any replies and have happened to catch you online to schedule. I thought you just didn't check your email regularly. Hmmm... Let's try for Thursday night at 8:00 EST if possible. Summary:
OK, this scenario is a crap shoot anyway, and our game was no exception. I started off annoying Aravis with a little known rule clarification that thin walls may be drawn short of or over a grid intersection, but LoS goes only by the grid intersection itself (this is to allow geometry instead of string to determine LoS in games) - he was a good sport about this considering it bit him in the rear several times this game (Fane is famous for a lot of "barely" LoS lines because of this).
Eberk's crew shifted into position near mid-map, far enough to avoid his creatures running away all at once. Dread tried to hide and pull Eberk's archers forward, nearer to melee. While Dread took a few plinks and lost the skeleton warrior, his ploy was effective.
Melee began with the pegasus landing its smite on the chraal, then the chraal returned with only a single blow (mere 10 damage even with scenario effects!). The underling DC made up for it, scoring an instant kill on the pegasus. At this point eberk moved way up. He had buffed his team and now needed to remove the duergar concealment. The Xen'Drick came forward with the blast flesh, catching both duergars and the chraal, and the goliath took the pain to finish off the chraal on a charge - however, the ice blast hurt ebisu mucho. Of course, the pegasus was supposed to take that cold blast with little impact, but that option was obviously gone.
Eberk summoned a pair of azers to block. He needed Morik to NOT get a spiritual weapon onto the goliath. Ebisu moved in for the shocking burst, no concealment left thanks to Eberk, and WHIFF! Oh, wait, reroll, cool! WHIFF AGAIN [:(!]
Dread moved up with a miss on the Xen'Drick and the Xen'Drick's reply was 2 misses as well. The graycloak kept plinking here and there. The wolf seemed to hit more than anyone, scoring a couple of bites on its turn and when nipping at the heals of duergars leaving its area. Dread came through with an instant kill on the full health Xen'Drick [B)], then moved to pin down Eberk. The goliath was on the run - Eberk rallied Ebisu, took stepped away from Dread thankfully without feeling a maul in his back, and spiritual weaponed Dread. In the end, the remaining azer (Morik smacked the other one dead), the badly wounded Goliath, and uninjured Eberk stood against Dread ⏍HP left!]. This was bad news.
[Well, in checking the ol' rulebook, a creature needs to make a melee attack to not end a game after 10 stall rounds (the spiritual weapon spell is a melee attack, but is not a creature) - so I crossed my fingers and ran the crew up at Dread]. Mr. Shadowhammer took the goliath's blow, held his ground, and returned the favor. Twice. Ebisu was no more.
Eberk had lost his last lieutenant option. It was measely Eberk and a puny azer facing 40 HP of Dread "PowerMaul" Shadowhammer. Zippy was already opening the EC Rules page to the "Minor Items Table" at this point. Eberk wins initiative, Azer rolls 20, Aravis throws out a string of curses, and I agree with the part about this not being a personal favorite for scenarios. Top it off with the Eberk rolling up the best Medium item EVER!
Aravis, thanks for the game, you were a good sport! You got the dual insta-kills on 2 of my 3 big guys, but your DC routing off along with an insulting azer takedown made up for it.

Those medium turning items really have got to go though. With one or two exceptions they're all horribly useless items, and the exceptions are merely crappy items instead of horrible. | |

Summary: Ibex kept his band behind heavy cover while Gleen's band moved closer in a cluster, trying to stay within the sound of his voice after he turned invisible. Finally, a xorn burst from the ground in front of the altar of Lolth and attacked the advancing xeph, but missed. The duergar champion moved to support his companion and threaten Fen'zel, but was quickly forced to retreat by the Xen'drik champion and one of the wild elf raiders. The xorn stood against the xeph, the wolf, and Velloc, while the ranger lobbed arrows into the fray ineffectively. Ibex vanished from his position behind his xorn and reappeared next to the ranger, swinging a quick blow that barely missed. Fen'zel and Gleen then dealt him injuries that broke his morale, and Ibex fled, reaching the altar, but not safety. Gleen and a wild elf gave chase, leaving Ibex sure to die from the ring of blades that surrounded the gnome. The xorn stood firm and killed an elf and Velloc, while severely wounding the wolf.
At last the xill that Ibex had been counting on arrived and killed the xeph, but it was too little, too late. Fen'zel charged the xill and the wild elf struck the xorn a blow that broke its morale. With the xill sure to die from the blades and no hope of the xorn regaining its courage, Gleen stood victorious.

Those medium turning items really have got to go though. With one or two exceptions they're all horribly useless items, and the exceptions are merely crappy items instead of horrible.

Summary: After a little bit of confusing start with points, the game got under way. Ganthen, held his troops in formation as he and his hired dwarf artifcer began buffing the party. As Ganthen did this, Mandor started advancing his line, moving within close striking distance.
The next round, Ganthen summoned some more minions and the Artificer finished his buffing and moved out to start the fight. Each party moved a little closer this round as each hoped for initiate next round.
Mandor won initiative and the Kord went rushing forward, engaging Ganthen's troops as he swung over their heads to strike down their commander. Ganthen, rolling a 4 on morale, suddenly realized that he was blessed by the gods and held his ground. He cast a cure critical wounds to restore himself as the rest of his party, even the Azer raiders all hit their targets.
The Gith Monk squad quickly swarmed the Aspect and slayed him with their unavoidable strikes. The Xen's, finding the 27AC's of the monks really difficult to hit still tried none the less. The next round, the monks swarmed all over the Xen's, making one flee. And one of the monks, runs up to Mandor, and on the first attack, rolls a 20. Bringing down 95 pts of commander with AL5 all too quickly.
I felt bad for Bleys on this game. He rolled many many 1's and lots of rolls under 5, where as I was only rolling over 15. I am sure we shall have a rematch one day Bleys. | |
