Scenario: Wardrums Release - Assault

- Admin has changed.... it's now me! [:D] for the indefinite future. I listed quite a few updates last week so please check out last week's weekly update stuff (link above)
- EC V3 is looking good for Week 61. We will be opening with a tournament... time to get your greedy little warlord's hands on an Artefact!
- New Mod with wardrums will hopefully be out Monday night, complete with an EC extension pack with OCs maps and custom EC spell terrain tiles. If you see him around, please take a sec to thank tullywi for all his hard work.

ETERNAL CAMPAIGN STANDING INFO:
- Eternal Campaign Rules V2 contain a numbr of variations and additions over the Casual Rules and the Skirmish Campaign rules on page 111 of the Miniatures Handbook.
- Frequently Asked Questions can be found in this thread.
- Log files can be viewed here and should be sorted by week #. Upload log files here, ensure the filename begins with the week number and identifies both players.
- Stats and Standing are posted here or the Eternal Campaign link at the top tight of this site. It is each players responsibility to ensure their stats have been correctly updated and to post clarifications to any ??? left by the admin
- Scenario information for the current round can be found here.
- Deadlines are Sunday midnight (GMT -8) to post your match results (including late games and unplayed), Monday midnight for the weekly schedule to be posted, and Sunday midnight (GMT -8) to sign up for the following week's games. If you are late signing up, go ahead any way as there is a chance you can be put on the schedule if it hasn't already been posted =).
- Alliances and everything to do with them, including creating, breaking, and trading items should be posted here
- Hall of Fame is posted here. If you think he is worthy, nominate your warlord for the Eternal Campaign Hall of Fame.

Summary:
We played on mushroom cavern, and I started upper left. I moved most of my warband behind the wall in the center, while running Eddon into sight as a screener, the quaggoth to my victory area, and an orc warrior toward a more distant victory area. Not much damage was exchanged. Aravis mostly moved south, while tucking his wardrummer in a corner and running the wolf to a victory area. At the end of the round, I put my orc warrior up front, hoping to charge his mounted patrol, but Aravis won initiative and smacked my poor orc around. Thankfully, the orc held his ground. He was then sent running off after the wardrummer, who was hiding far enough away from the rest of Aravis's warband that he couldn't be supported in time. He eventually killed the drummer. Trading a 39 point piece for a 19 point piece might seem like a bad idea, but it also pulled Aravis's orc champ and xendrik champ north to counter, leaving me free to pound on and rout the mounted drow. Meanwhile my quaggoth had killed the wolf, my orc warrior hidden away in a victory area, Aravis had moved his commander south to enfeeble my commander.
Next initiative my quaggoth charged and routed the xendrik champion. His commander flamed most of my warband, and his orc champ moved to base my arcane guard to prevent him from doing the same. I then hit the orc champ with everything I had left, doing enough damage to force morale thanks to the commander effect from the gnoll sergeant, and the champ failed, ending the match.
Aravis rolled pretty badly on morale the entire match, which made my gamble chasing down the wardrummer pay off. Neither one of us remembered to start a logfile, but I can assure everyone that if we were cheating, we could come up with better items than a +1 shield of minor cold resistance (on a CE warband, no less), to lie about.

| | Since Uthanek didnt summarize I will. He took out the sneak then I took out the warrior, he kited me around most the game, going up on assault points with his better speed. I finally got the Xen corner, he made his MC, and I had a few misses despite the flanking that would have killed him. He routed the Underboss and won. | |

The battle started off with a lucky first turn fireball for me, injuring gleen and killing 2 of his xephs. Gleen began a prayer to his vile gnomish diety, invoking fear in my warband and inspiring his with their tales of shoe cobbling (or whatever those foul creatures delight in) while he and his clay golem creation advanced through the center of the keep. A barbarian mercenary drew the xendrik champion out of her hiding spot to take a shot at him, though miraculously he stood his ground. At the beginning of the next round, Yarpa and Walker sensed weakness in the out of command xendrik. An empowered acid arrow from Yarpa, followed by a lucky shot with an icy burst arrow from Walker sent the drow packing. Remember... Walker is an avatar of Chuck Norris... and if you can see Chuck Norris, Chuck Norris can see you! Cujo meanwhile went along the southern side of the keep to secure victory points while the warbound impaler and Rikka eyed one another cautiously. A few rounds of position jockeying went along, as Gleen began his deadly blade storm. In a bold move, Gleen teleported adjacent to the aasimar, who, upon being sliced most cruelly was sent packing. The following round, Gleen mowed down the aasimar and a nearby barbarian, while Walker picked off the remaining xeph. Rikka flew in to avenge her comrade, striking Walker harshly, though the ranger's mettle proved true. Yarpa rushed to assist her friend, and sent a daze monster at Rikka, overcoming her spell resistance and stunning her. The warbound and 2 barbarian mercs converged upon the helpless celestial, and sent her routing the next round. Outactivated, with slower units unable to cover the victory areas, Gleen surrendered and lived to tinker another day.
This was my first time playing against Wish, so it was rather interesting. His empowered Ring of Blades is a cool and truly nasty combo. I'd been interested in trying out the warbound impaler, though the clay golem wasnt the best trial heh. It was a really close game, with an unlucky initiative and a couple of poor saves eventually deciding it in my favor. If the dice had been a bit kinder, it could have very easily been Yarpa's head on the block. | |

Summary:
A lesson learned... Oozemasters do not necessarily have any competance at controlling dragons.
Dhon Khing cautiously sent his forces across the Enclave, sending his Xen around the bottom to asassinate a few weaker enemies including Bubbles and Red the Blue. He whipped by Pete the Ochre Jelly who was busy snoozing in one of the Vitory Areas.... slowly gaining VPs for his master.
Meanwhile up top a battle ensued among a few of Lloth's minions with the help of an Orc Warrior and some stinky lizard things VS Snig's Minons with the help of Quasi the Mongrelfolk and a Hell hound.... no idea where he cam from.
The big boys took it down the center... slowly untill The Large Blue got distracted despite Snigs order and went chasing after the Xen allowing Dhon's heavy hitters to move up top and demolish the sniglets and remaining fodder.
A few guick rounds later and it was basically Snig and the Blue vs the Ravager and Umber Hulk. The Oozemaster barely escaped, tkaing a hard blow from the Ogre, but the Blu ewas there to prevent them from chasing and he ran down to try and rouse Pete into doing soemthing useful.
The dragon then flew off trying to capture Dhon and his lady friend but quickly realized he would not last long with an Ogre Ravager on his heels combined with Dhon's Snake spell. So he took off flying around the Enclave giving The Master and his Ooze time to rummage through a cacooned filled room to find the Magical Amulet they had come for.

Summary:
As the warbands hunted each other in the underdark, Gorag outmanuevered Muggle (easy to do to an easily confused kobold) and brought the fight to the mushroom caverns. Gorag approached from the northwest, Muggle from the northeast. Upon first contact, both warbands sent their pet wolves scurrying off to gain valuable real estate. Muggle ordered his goblins to form a wall protecting him from the samurai with the flaming sword. The goblins were skeptical, but Snig convinced them (he wasn't too keen on getting near the samurai either). Soon the orc berserker charged the line of goblins, striking one down and swinging wildly at another. Muggle exclaimed in fright that Gorag could motivate his troops to swing so frequently. The efreeti struck down the berserker and Muggle promptly sent an acid ball into the breech, coating the samurai and Gorag with the caustic goo. Gorag thought that might be his cue to retreat, though he reconsidered when he was safely further from the fray. Chumley killed one of Muggle's wolves, then moved in while the Xen'drik slaughtered a goblin. The Samurai struck the efreeti a blow.
With Gorag running, his troops were distracted and Muggle's forces got the jump on them. The efreeti killed the samurai and muggle enfeebled Chumley. The bands traded blows, with Chumley and the Xen'drik trying to kill Tharch, but then Muggle's band ganged up on Chumley and killed him. Gorag had, by that time, decided to rejoin the battle, but when he heard his trusty grimlock's body hit the floor of the cavern he decided he'd had enough.

Summary: Jai was a good opponent and a good sport, and I enjoyed playing my first match against him.
The battle took place in the Mushroom Cavern. Rikka started off the first round in a victory area and my cursed spirit made it to a victory area on the first round, so we both grabbed 1st round assault points.
Most of Jai's fodder met their demise via Chimera breath weapon in the second round, despite an admirable effort to protect them by Jai. The Chimera soon paid for this and took a lot of damage from Regdar, the Warlock and Torch, and routed. The Blood Ghost Beserker refrained from combat until round 3, when, with the help of the Cursed Spirit, it hit and routed Torch. Torch, despite a +15 MC failed his rally attempt and routed off the board. Rikka went Chimera Hunting and smacked it before it routed off the board. Veldrin in turn went Rikka hunting and hit her with his skirish attack.
The next round, Jai critically missed Veldrin with Rikka which would give me a big break. The Blood Ghost hit Redgar and the Cursed Spirit missed. The Warlock hit the Blood Ghost with an Eldritch Spear and Redgar smacked the Blood Ghost. Veldrin took an AoO and critically hit Rikka with a skirmish attack, and she failed her MC, being OoC.
From that point, Jai just couldn't do enough damage fast enough to my fearless warband to kill them off, despite a valorous effort.

Summary: This was a fun little game, and I hope Qapla enjoyed his first EC match. I liked Qapla's warband, too.
Both sides had slow warbands, so the assault format did very little for either side. Sir Lander and his forces approached in a shield wall towards the west side of Queen Peregrin's tomb, where the Gulgar and Gideon fired on the enemy forces. Mialee cast magic weapon on the Gulgar and ran for tile points, but was blasted by a Scorching Ray from Sir Lander after one round.
The two forces finally clashed on round 4. The Gulgar took some hits but his Sonic Pulse hit the majority of Lander's warband, forcing morale saves on the 3 Shieldwall Soldiers, only one of whom fought on. A mighty charge from Gideon critically hit the wounded Sir Lander, and killed him.
In the next couple of rounds, the Dragonslayer bravely fought toe to toe against the Gulgar, and would have forced a morale save with 1 better attack roll. The Gulgar and Gideon were able to overcome their remaining foes after a few close calls and bad rolls on either side.
Good game Qapla, you're a good player, I hope the dicebot treats you better next time. | |

First off this is fairly late in the week. I sent you about 5 emails after the first one you sent me. If something is up I'd suggest finding out what is up and trying to fix it because email is the MAIN way people schedual games. I have little time left this week.
Can you play late Saturday or Sunday? Those are the only times I have open.

Yes, I', truely sorry. My internet just randomly poofed on me LITTERALY 15 minutes before 5 pm PST (our play time). I had no one here to help me and my dad was in a buisness meeting till 7pm. He then called me and told me what to do. And just now it is working. I hope we can still play some time, otherwise i'll settle for a draw. | |
