| This isn't against Saintpauli but it happened in my game against him quite a bit:
Please state the Attack Bonus of Each Figure on Each Roll
Please mark down, for both players, the special abilities used
Please mark down, for both players, the spells used
Just came up more than a few times in the past few games.

| | This is really a general play etiquette issue. It's more important with EC games, since there is a whole layer of complexity over top of the regular DDM game to keep track of (items and leveling). | | There are 10 kinds of people in the world; those who understand binary, and those who don't. | | The only one of these that isn't intuitive is declaring the attack bonus. Generally, if there's a question, it's easy enough to do the math and clear up the confusion, but is it really necessary to keep repeating the bonuses over and over? | | | |

| I'm all for marking everything you use and requiring that all magic item effects be referenced in the status line of each unit. It's pretty hard to keep track of my opponents' items now that I'm playing at higher levels with more items.
As far as calling out bonuses... whether you do it before or after the roll shouldn't matter - the dice bot is independently crappy regardless :). I think the key is that both players communicate their bonuses in any situation where the other player wishes to know. If a wolf is attacking my Urthok I don't need to know his attack bonus to be pretty sure that 12 won't hit. Anytime an opponent has a question about bonuses it is of course mandatory to tally everything up - but there are many situations where there's no real question of the results of a roll. Save DC 16 and you roll a 17 for example. | | Completed trades: Zarnof, Ehren37, Eric is God, griffrat, cavedweller, Kyrinn, Blade, Humble Minion, Noghri, Ilarue

| | The dice roller is handy if you can get used to its awkwardness. d20+32 for example for the Oozemaster when he reaches epic levels.... | | Join the Eternal Skirmish Campaign.

| I never start the hit bonus before attacking because 90% I know whether I hit on not based on the roll. I actually also dislike when my opponent takes time to state his +15 +10 attack bonus when hitting my AC 10 Frenzied Berserker.
It may have gotten a bit confusing with up to 3 extra bonuses (flank, weapon, CFX) in our mach dj-chuckles but you should be able to do the math yourself without me stating it each hit.
I am however truly sorry that I forgot to note the third use of my reroll ability on one of my Goliath Barbarians.

| I think that players should mark down special abilities and limited use items. However, when it comes to attack rolls, saves, and inits (or whatever else I'm forgetting), I don't see a problem with just rolling and giving the plus on request. Particularly when you know it's at least ___ and anything above ____ will definately make it; if it's close, you look it up. Btw, it's also important to say who you're attacking and who with if there is any confusion. | | CHAMPION OF THE CURRY GOLEM! | |

| I feel that not listing special abilities from items is almost like cheating. You declare that Blar'ak the Drow Arcane Guard carries a (Maj) Pearl of Power at the beginning of the game. If it is not marked on the board, though, after that first Empowered Burning Hands is used, I may forget and bunch my units up. It is not fair because the second chance for the EBHs is not listed on the unit's card. It is something special that we have to remember.
I would be quite angry in the above situation when my opponent said, "I now use the Pearl of Power to cast EBH on your entire warband." They did declare the item, but hid the fact it was remaining.
I find it better to list the modifications to units on the creature's stat lines or to create information boxes to cover the units that have the biggest changes (Ex. Lts and Warlords).

I agree that items or preferably item effect (writing +1 AC instead of minor armor) should be listed EVERY TIME. But I do not see the need to write the stats of the lieutenants or the warlord since those stats are available to my opponent on the raking page.

I honestly don't see it as that big of a deal. Sometimes, there's a lot of information for unit's stats. I keep track of what the units are and I keep track of them. If you don't want to, all you have to do is ask; just like a real minis game. It is certainly not cheating. | | CHAMPION OF THE CURRY GOLEM!
