Hello,

I'm trying a few new things that caused me to release a new mod (DDM 1-14-3) and the related extensions. They are available at http://www.vassalengine.org/community/index.php?option=com_vassal_modules&task=display&module_id=202&page=Files. The mod has a few minor changes in it. The biggest change is the addition of shortcut keys for rolling a 20 sided dice with the following additions:
  • Ctrl 0 adds zero to the roll..
  • Ctrl 1-9 adds the corresponding 1 through 9 to the roll.
  • Ctrl Shift 0 adds 10.
  • Ctrl Shift 1-9 adds 11-19.
  • Alt Ctrl Shift 0 adds 20.
  • Alt Ctrl Shift 1-9 adds 21-29.

The DDM 2.0 extension has also been updated. It now contains the 2.0 units from Desert of Desolation. The units have some new features. Some of the commands have been placed into submenus. If you can't find a command, check the menus. One of the submenus contains all the status effects that can be turned on for the units. Clicking that same effect will turn off the status. Otherwise, there is a reset button that will turn off any statuses that are active. Any units with special abilities now has a property sheet that can be turned on. The sheet contains ticks to keep track of the abilities. Champion points can also be tracked through this sheet. Hopefully, it will prove valuable.

As always, if you have questions, comments, or concerns, please post them here. This release should allow you to play games. I'm guessing that the next release will be a new mod. This mod might not be compatible with previous mods. So, please let me know how you like (or dislike) this release.

Also, a big thank you to ZephyrStorm. He was a lot of help.

Enjoy,
Don

I ran into a few glitches and have uploaded fixes for them. I'm sure there will be more (just not anymore tonight). The latest release is DDM2_1_1.

All the units have HP/MaxHP show up at the bottom right corner. I'm trying to figure a way so that the user can choose HP or HP/MaxHP. So far, no luck. I've chosen to display both. The MaxHP can be changed through the submenu (Edit Unit - Change max HP). Max HP and HP are now both recorded as numbers. So, you won't be able to put text in for them. I've seen some people enter an "A" or "B" there to identify duplicate units. I'm open to suggestions on how this should play out. Right now, I'm happy with this, but am open to criticism (and compliments).

The DDM2_1_1 is an extension file located in the DDM_1-14-3_zip download. What you need to do before downloading is make a new folder called DDM_1-14-3_ext , now when you download the DDM_1-14-3_zip you extract it to that new folder you just made.

Hey Brad,

Sorry, I think I screwed up one of the two previous Extensions.zip extensions I released last night. The current version should work as documented (somewhere). As Hougar said, this zip contains the folder DDM_1-14-3_ext. Inside this folder is DDM2_1_1.zip and the rest of the zip files for the extensions. The folder needs to be in the same location as the mod that you load in Vassal.

To provide a more solid example: The full path to my mod is /Vassal/DDM/DDM_1-14-3.mod. The /Vassal/DDM folder contains my extensions folder which is named DDM_1-14-3_ext. This folder was extracted from Extensions_1-14-3.zip which can be downloaded from VassalEngine.org. The extension folder contains the 4 extension zip files (DDM2_1_1.zip, etc). When I start up Vassal, I load up the mod from /Vassal/DDM/DDM_1-14-3.mod. If the mod doesn't exactly match the name I've listed here, the extensions will not load. So, if the mod I start up is named DDM_1-14-3.mod.zip (which I've seen happen on the download), the extension folder would need to be named DDM_1-14-3.mod_ext for it to work.

Hopefully, this will be enough to get this working. If not, post here and I should be able to offer more help.

Thanks,
Don

That worked! I had the .mod.zip files for some reason.

Thanks for the help. Kind of embarrassing being an IT guy who used to show everyone else how to get on Vassal back in the day. :D

Ha Ha! (You sound like me. IT guy helping out all over the place.)

No problem. It always helps to have another pair of eyes on a problem. I'm just glad it worked.

I've released DDM 2.1.2. Unfortunately, you will need to download the Extensions_1-14-3.zip again. I didn't add any units (although I've fixed all the bugs I know about). I do have some new features in this extension to which I would like some feedback. The new features are:
  • Some real help text under the Help menu. Let me know if either the DDM 2.0 Changes, Graveyard, or Shortcut Key help text is of any value.
  • I've assigned costs to all the minis.
  • There is a new Warbands Summary window. It tells how many units are in each warband and reports the total cost.
  • What good is a summary if there is no Graveyard? I've added a Graveyard to the game. I don't expect people to go into it yet, but it allows the Summary window to display how many units are in the Graveyard and what the total cost of them are for each warband.
Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Don
