BATTLE REPORT

Nevan arrived with a couatl, his Lieutenants Clank and Jengal, and a Skull Clan Halfling armed with a mighty sword of frost. Nevan moved his troops forward methodically, making sure to keep the Couatl within range to protect against the gauth fire eye ray. Krawd had entered with his Lieutenants, Ignavus and Forix, supported by a slow but viscious gauth.

St. Cuthbert was roused when Krawd slew one human and one dwarven footmen, and empowered Nevan with vengeance. The couatl moved up and blasted the hobgoblin with a sonic orb. Krawd charged the winged snake and struck true, wounding and (oddly enough) poisoning the creature. Forix moved in from the side to flank the flying snake. Jengal, who was holding Nevan's right flank, was routed, and slowly ran to an exit (3 rounds later, having failed all 3 mc's).

In a bold maneuver, the Couatl took flight, intending to drop down and assassinate the gauth. Forix bashed the beast and Krawd struck a deathblow squarely between its eyes with uncanny precision. This surprising turn of events simply hailed what was to come. Ignavus flew in from the flank to breath acid on Aramil, the Skull Clansman, and Clank. The Skull Clan Hunter then cleverly moved to flank Ignavus, and within 3 mighty blows the dragon was no more. Clank suffered a few blows from Krawd and from Forix. The gauth finally burned Clank to oblivion, and the bugbear and formian swung through the melee zone to address Aramil, who had weakened Krawd.

Nevan siezed the moment to instill magic fear in the bugbear, while the artificer moved in to flank the formian. The formian tried to finish off Aramil with a bite, but was forced to employ the powerful sting to dispatch the nearly dead mage. The halfling clansman then adeptly shifted positions to flank Forix, and served him several mighty slashes. A goblin spearchucker come forth to deliver a critical hit, and Forix weighed in on the halfling with a few blows. The gauth also directed its fire ray at the clansmen, who finally fell to overwhelming odds.

Nevan, with minor wounds but only an artificer left to support him, sounded full retreat. He faced the unerring gauth, unwounded Krawd, Forix (hanging on to only a thread of consciousness), a goblin spearman, the routing bugbear, a badly wounded formian, and the blue. There was no joy to be had this day.

Zippy had some good fluke dice again tonight. JJBeezer planned for salamanders and got a gauth, and losing the Couatl when facing a Gauth is not helpful! GG, and maybe next time the luck is spread out a little.

Winning Player: TheCloakedRanger
TC Ranger's Warband: Grim Necromancer, Skullcrusher x2, Warrior Skeleton, Azer Raider x2 (support).
Experience Gained: 1000 xp
Leveling: +5 hp, Melf's Acid Arrow and +1 CR
Lieutenant XP: 500 xp to Uthgar the Skullcrusher Ogre
Lieutenant leveling options (if any):
Magic item gained: +1 Armor of Arachnia :P
Magic item lost (if any): Collar of Fire Resistance

Losing Player: OldCoast
OC's Warband: Skullsplitter, Skullcrusher Ogre x2, Hell Hound.
Experience gained: 250
Warlord's leveling options (if any): NA
Magic item gained: +1 Weapon
Magic item lost (if any): (his commander died and dropped his magic items, and no one picked it up. Soo I dont know if he looses em or what.)

I chose the tiles Treasure Room, Torture Chamber, Statue Room and Rubble Assembly. I tired to make the battle field, or atleast my half, small hallways with only 2 squares wide so only 1 ogre or large creature could be there at a time. Early on I used my Azers as screens for the BW and id put my Ogres behind them for +4 cover incase I got attacked first. He slowly crept up and based 1 of my Azers in the top hallway with the Hellhound moving 10. My Summoned Minotaur Skeleton ran up and spanked him over the Azer for 15 dmg, he failed the MC with only a +4 (was OOC) and the Azer killed with an AoO. After that it was a Rock Throwing Compition! We both let loose our rocks, all painfully missing their targets. After that I had pretty much all of his creatures (2x Skullcrusher and the Skullsplitter) Cursed with Curse of Impending Blades and one hit with Ray of Enfeeblement (which helped ALOT, both the debuffs did, he hardly hit and the -2 ac helped me alot). My Mino died and both my Warrior Skeletons (1 summoned). But atleast the mino pulled off a crit on the Skullspliter for 30 dmg and he made the MC, so I was happy. After that I let him come to me after he ran a bit. Both of my Skullcrushers are at full hp and he has 1 at full a 30 hp commander and a 15 hp Skullcrusher left (made his MC with a +15 and I had got a crit on him to force it). I crushed the Skullcrusher dubbed Rotspike with Uthgar. Uthgar and Morthrug then got into formation and formed a circle around the Grim Necromancer to protect his punniness. He then ran, and came back a round later. I flanked his commander with Morthrug who ran around the Statue Room and in side of it to prevent the Skullspliter from running, but making sure he was in command. Then he moved Lubash up a bit and missed Uthgar who closed off the only way to the Necromancer. I won init and crushed the Skullsplitter and moved up a few spaces but allowing room for the Apophis (Grim Necro) and Uthgar to come down. It was a sluggfest from there, with tons of misses on eachothers Ogres (his was a 35, 15 from an Ogre and 10 from a charging Azer). I got him to 20 hp and Lubash failed his morale check and ran (this was the RoE'd and CoiB'd Ogre). After that it was over with one Azer 1 fully healthy Ogre, a barly wounded one and a evil Necromancer.

I must say, the tiles and how I set them up helped ALOT!

The Coutal had plans to ignore the gauth and instead flank Krawd. The Skullclan Hunter was ready to move up and put 30 damage per hit into Krawd. That could have turned the game. Unfortunately for me, Krawd has trained his folks not to miss... ever. (Unless they roll a 1)

Hmm... 10 magic + 10 SA + 5 Cold + 5 Vengeance (twice in a round! :])

Aha! Well, that coulda hurt! Although the 26 AC helps (still only 52½% average miss with GMW, flank, and magic sword).

That double 30 dmg AC23 tiny flanking freak was really putting the screws on my squad!

Well, rgrayua and I met this week. I totally expected him to bring a Fomorian and put invisibility on it so I had to fight it in combat. He didn't and I fell like a chump for bringing the band I did.

Winning Warlord: tullywi (CG)
Warband: Mystique the Bladesinger, Bariaur Ranger, Frenzied Beserker, 5 Graycloak Rangers (5 wolves), Aasimar Favored Soul, and a Gnome Recruit.
Experience gained: +1000XP, +1500 Campaign Pts.
Leveling: Mystique is now at 10750 experience points.
Lieutenant XP: Aasimar Favored Soul will take 500 experience.
Lieutenant leveling:NA
Magic item gained: (Maj) +1 Shield of Spell Storing
Magic item lost: +1 Melee Weapon of Shocking Burst

Defeated Warlord: rgrayua (CE)
Warband: Drow Wizard, Mordenkainen the Mage, Clay Golem, Ogre Ravager, Timber Wolf, Orc Warrior
Experience Gained: 250 XP & 250 Campaign Pts.
Leveling options: NA
Magic item gained: (Maj) +1 Vampiric Melee Weapon
Magic item lost: Traded (Maj) +1 Shield of Electric Immunity

rgrayua played well, but I had too much ranged firepower and he didn't have enough speed to counteract it. Good game rgrayue. I owe you a non-uber game in the near future.

No apology needed, I knew my band was risky I was just hoping to catch you off-guard by going an unexpected route. Of course it failed miserably. Apologize to my next opponent, the Invisible Fomorian is a good idea I did not consider. I was too focused on using the Invisibility to help Elvira escape trouble, to think about an offensive use of it. I should have cast Invisibility on my Ravager and had him run up to Mystique or a couple of Graycloaks.

Invisibility is actually in the core minatures game rules, it just hasn't come up with any figs yet :). You can't get LoS on an invis creature, and it gets conceal 11 against melee. It also gets +2 to hit, and cannot be targeted by AoO. Blindsight negates invis, blind-fight cancels some of the bonuses.
All-in-all, not something we want to see on a freakin' Formorian :).

BTW.. when did we start apologizing for making a good warband and winning? :)

Invisibility isn't as bad as it sounds, the spell states the creature becomes visible after making an attack. That's why I asked the question about whether casting a spell was an "attack." The consensus was that it is, if it's cast on an opposing figure, even if non-damaging like Ray of Enfeeblement. So the hypothetical Fomorian would become visible after making its first attack. The spell would just allow it to close while being untargetable by those pesky Graycloaks. The Conceal 11 in melee is nice and I would assume that you cannot charge an Invisible creature since you have to be able to see the target to charge.

Nice spell! Yes, it precludes charging (a charge is vs. nearest enemy to which the creature has LOS). "Oh, Lord Soth, are you busy next week? I may have need of you."

BATTLE REPORT

It was a nice game, he looks surprise because of my aspect he forgot totally abaut her, and i was a little worried about his coatl because it ruins almost all my comander spells, the fight begins slowly, first all the warriors got killed, then 10 damage for yondalla and a phalanx with the fireball, he manage to flank the lolth with his skullclan with bear's endurance, between coatl and skullclan hit my aspect until she just had 45 hp left, saves the mc, start kicking coatl with meele reach 3, it saves moral, then i base him with my orc berserker, the next turn he gave me aoo from the berserker and he rolled a critic 30dmg and coatl dead, i started wiping skullclan and cast Melf's on him he fails his mc and stayed at range of my melee reach 3 because of the mushroom tangle, next, berserker kills lidda, next turn, one atack more from the aspect, just 5 hp more to kill skullclan, with the berserker i rout yondalla, when he tries to rally he rolled 1 and then concede.

May the dice be with you

Takasi,
No reply to e-mail, so I'm nervous whether you received it or not: I don't want you to rush home from your day out with family (especially on Dad's Day) to play stupid me, so I would rather play Monday; after 7 my time is best, is there any chance of that?

General EC public: we are going to be playing our game late :).

Kyuketsuki, from what I see, your Drow Wizard does level up. Since this is your 4th level, you should be on your 4th spell progression level. Since the Drow Wizard knows 2nd level spells, that makes this Spell Progression Level 6. You need to select another 1st level spell instead of Melf's Acid Arrow.
