That was a nice band Jesse. The catfolk has two things going for it, and one of them is the threat. In the right band I think he can be devastating.

Thanks for the report.

Catfolk Wilder was soo amazing for me today. He left a lasting impression. (Although, somewhat like cause fear, the mind blast may not translate nearly well enough to Constructed).

Catfolk Wilder = awesome.

Catfolk Wilder = Hardest ability to remember. Somehow I managed to forget the Pyschic Enervation every time but like once. [:(] Fortunately, quite a few times my opponent remembered, but still there were times when that got totally forgotten.

I lost to Bill (who had the best band overall) in the first round. My Aberrations starter d20 couldn't roll above a 3. I'm not saying that I lost because of the die. I knew I was going to lose vs. Bill's band, but it would have been nice to present some kind of challenge.

I won the next two matches, and then I faced, Jesse who had the second best band overall. I nearly pulled victory from the jaws of defeat against Jesse. He killed my Aspect of Nerull and asked if I wanted to concede. I said no and proceeded to kill a few more of his key pieces, but I was eventually killed off by the Dwarf Samurai.

Aspect of Nerull... I like him. Against lower armor class figs, use the melee attacks. Against higher armor class figs use the spell. It took me a while to figure that out. Silly rabbit. The Aspect of Nerull has, I think, the lowest saves of any of the Aspects. This is also something to consider. He is unlikely to rout with a decent commander, but he isn't a sure thing vs. other saves. I think he'll do well when teamed up with other beefy hitters or high hitpoint undead.

Skullclan Hunter... Great fig for LG. It was difficult to setup flanks with my warband as it was, but damn... when I did get the flank, it was devastating. I would consider using anything that might provide a flank with this guy. Heck, I might even consider using a Protectar just for this purpose. To be sure, there are better flankers than the protectar, but none are cheaper.

Dwarf Artificer... It's a nice piece, but not worth it if you only have two beatsticks. Especially if you're facing warbands with a lot of special abilities and Spells. I feel I would have gotten more value out of another hitter or two instead of the boosted AC. His anti-construct spells are so specific as to be completely useless in limited.

Basically, you cast your two buff spells (which are great) and he becomes a high cost piece of fodder. Sure he has 21 armor class and 30 hp, but do you really want something beefy gunning him down and taking that 21 points? I suppose he could become a secondary tile grabber, but he is too slow. By the time he gets onto a tile it's late in the game and now you've put him nearer the enemy. By the end of the tourney, I started using him as a mongrelfolk killer, but even for that, he's too slow and can't quite make it before time is called.

In constructed his real value will be if teamed up with more than two heavy hitters. Just using him as an AC boost to your cadre of Man-at-Arms isn't really worthwhile. The difference between a 19 AC and a 21 AC is negligible to a hidden Graycloak Ranger getting +12 to his ranged attacks. He might miss with the first one, but in all likelihood the second will hit. If you only have two big hitters, you're better off with the Cleric of Moradin teamed up with a commander or spellcaster that gives Magic Weapon.

If, however, the metagame changes to include more constructs, I suppose I'll have to reconsider the Dwarf Artificer. For now, he'll go in the useful, but not incredible bin. He won't be in every single LG build... not because he isn't useful, but because he isn't useful enough.

Granted, I still need to do a lot more playtesting.

Well... it was a fun event to say the least. My wife and I had a good time and was happy to see all of you come out to our neck of the woods for the tourney. My warband did pretty well considering I was up againt better players and better warbands. I went 2-2 and lost both times to players with Destrachan. :( Oh well, I took forth by default an went home happy. I am sorry I couldn't stay for the prize pulls, though. My wife Joy sends a big thank you to Sam and Ian for being so patient and accomodating, and for helping to clarify rules during her last match. Hope to see you all at the next pre-release if not sooner.

Dag I forgot about that everytime as well. The guy who had the wilder finished 5th, but still would have been nice to remember that.

Heh, ironically, I feel better now. [)]

Actually, I was pretty confident that there was something about it that made it really hard to remember. So I'm not at all surprised that other people had a really hard time remembering.

I believe it was my second game, only the second time I used it in the tourney, when my opponent reminded me of the ability and, sure enough, I rolled a 1.

If I ever play with a Wilder in another tourney, I intend to write next to the 20pp "Roll for Stun!" with my dry-erase marker. I was faithfully tracking his pp, so all I really needed was a written reminder I would see when updating his pp. That's what I would suggest for others, as well. However you track the pp, put a reminder note where you can't miss it.

I used a CFW this weekend, it was very hard to use. Well I had a Beholder in my band also. Over the 3 mathces I got to use the Mind Thrust 6-8 times and my opponents kept making the DC15 save. The 1 time it did work, I rolled a 1 and stunned myself.

Thanks for the report.
