| | I've tried it. I can't recommend it. Being able to force the archmages to go before any of the substantial pieces on the other team move is just too huge. | | "Why am I all sticky and naked? Did I miss something fun?" -Vindicated champion of Tordek, Dwarf Champion | |

| | I'd like to try it, but I think spending the first few rounds killing nothing up 5hp units would just ultimately irritate me. | | Champion of the Prestige Class where mages focus on telekenesis and start throwing people into the ceiling and uber stuff like that. | I almost took this to the last tourney, but decided on something more competitive in the end. I was going to play it as a point denial style warband, with the possiblity of a big payday if your opponent is careless.
You definitely need to try to stay 3-4 moves away from any nasty hitters (extremely difficult if not impossible to do), because they're going to get to move after you, and most likely before you on the next round. | | Rhane "The focus is sharp in the city..." | I'll second Fry's comment.
Newtoncain has made me a believer that, in constructed at any rate, you have to, have to have a competitive number of activations. If you have enough activations, you can lose initiative consistently and still have all your key figures moving after your opponent's key figures. If you're seriously out-activated, your opponent will simply force you to deal with fodder before you can come anywhere close to your opponent's key pieces, and its like fighting uphill.
It's less of a factor in limited, IMO. If you're lucky enough to pull an Archmage out of each of your booster boxes, you can expect to do serious damage to pretty much any other limited band you face. Not to mention that your opponent's band in limited, unlike in constructed, is far less likely to have ten figures all at speed 8+, or a bunch of figs whose only real purpose is to buff the big monster. Against less 'tuned' enemy bands, your odds of success go way up.
And the best part is that you don't even need to designate a Commander Zero.
