| | The Trog Barbarian and Praying Mantis are 57 points - you could sub out for a Red Samurai/Eye of Gruumsh/Orc Champ/Ogre Ravager, and use the additional points to purchase a Cursed Spirit to lower enemy saving throws and provide flanking for your fodder pieces. Any excess points could then buy little 3-pointers for activations or a regular Troglodyte to give one specific enemy a -4 to saves before he gets hit by the DC 17 poison. | | I now have a Have/Want list updated with all my rares! | | It's worth noting that the Yuan-ti's commander effect applies to poison effects, not an ability or effect with the word "poison" in its name. Lolth's Sting would not have her melee damage increased by the Yuan-ti. If you meant Spider of Lolth then it does work. | | It's deja vu all over again. | |

| You can let the FGPM be chewed on by pets/children. Truly one of the dumbest minis ever produced.
About your warband: You could spend the points from the FGPM on just about anything else and end up better than you are probably. | | **Note: Unless otherwise stated all my minis are unbagged** My reference thread is at: http://www.maxminis.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=12765 Graduate school is swollowing my soul!!!! It Lost to a Marut, 1/2 orc Paladin, Rhek, Dwarf Raider, and Githzerai Monk.
1 Deep Dragon 1 Yuan-ti Abomination 1 Troglodyte Barbarian 1 Fiendish Praying Mantis 4 Sting of Lolth's
As I understand it the Deep Dragon give all drow in your warband +3 to attack no matter where they are on the board, and the Yuan-ti boosts the DC of thier poison to 17.
I'm alittle un happy with the Troglodyte Barbarian and Mantis. What else could I sub in for them?
This band is of course weak against constructs, but great against Orcs.
Did you play this at Phantom this week? Was there a tournament?
Are you going next week?
At least the Trog lowers saves against the sleep poison, and that seems to be part of the theme with the Yuan-ti as well.
I assume you picked the Fiendish Praying Mantis for it's damage vs sleeping foes. Instead of using that, why not include a few cheaper units (in some combination) that hit hard?

| A couple forest trolls (20 points each) might be a possibility. They only have +6 to hit, but the poison save is a respectable DC 17--21 with the Abomination. They also have a poisoned ranged attack at range 6. You won't take down a Marut or many high-AC LG hitters with them, but they can still be effective and tenacious.
You could also consider the Swarm of Spiders, which is durable and has lots of poison-based attacks.
A third option is to replace the Deep Dragon with a Drow Arachnomancer, and bring in more Spider Swarms and Spiders of Lolth. You then have +4 to the poison saves, and poison does 10 damage instead of 5. | | | |

| | I don't like the idea of dropping the deep dragon. I think one of the strong points of this WB is that the Stings of Lolth have such a good attack bonus for their cost, no matter where they are on the map. It seems like a good value. I'd probably drop the whole poison idea, and go for more traditional CE standbys. | | **Note: Unless otherwise stated all my minis are unbagged** My reference thread is at: http://www.maxminis.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=12765 Graduate school is swollowing my soul!!!! | Yeah I'm going next week.
There's a DCI sanctioned tournament at the Phantom every Sunday. It doesn't draw the crowds of a prerelease (only four people at times), but it shows Wizards that we're promoting the product and helps ensure further prerelease events. Next Sunday there will be a prize of a HellSpike Prison Maps Supplement for First place, and some Underdark Minis for 2nd and third.
Lolth's Sting won't have her Melee Damage increased by the Yuan-ti, but the DC of her sleep poison goes up from 13 to 17 which is great. And when they ghost step they don't have to worry about AoO.
I like the idea of going with a Red Samurai/Eye of Gruumsh/Orc Champ/Ogre Ravager, and I've got to get some stench in there too. Thanks for the great advice everyone.

| DC 17 sleep poison with boosted accuracy from flanking, invisibility, and the Deep Dragon is pretty scary on such a cheap unit... and then you're getting double damage crits in, even with the Yuan Ti, which hits pretty hard.
The Yuan Ti have great spells that are under-appreciated. Confusion on the right target is very effective and could last for rounds.
The Deep Dragon sucks at damage, but, it's breath weapon is solid and it won't die easily.
Honestly, the concept is good except the Fiendish Praying Mantis.
Running CE Quad is fine, but, I don't think suggestions about a new and innovative warband attempt in CE should always go back to "Run Ravager, Samurai, Champ, & Eye with Orc Warriors and a Drow Sgt."
That's kind of like having a new idea for a Lawful good band with Dwarves, and the response is, "Run LSD, Cleric of Order, 4x Barb. Mercs, Mialee, Men at Arms."
There's nothing wrong with running CE Quad, but, it does take away from the chance that someone could stumble onto a new and effective combination of CE units.
This exact formation may not be EXACTLY it, but, there are some nice synergies.
