A Deathlock is certainly nice tech. I think we'll be seeing some, as well as more Bugbear Champs, in play when we hit the 8-figure limit.

With regards to scare, the sight range is less usefull, because in order for Enslave to go off the creature failing the save has to be within 6 squares of the Balor. Cheers, Jon

But you don't need to keep your Dretch near the action, and you can build your band so you can drop scare bombs in your own troops without having to worry about any of them routing.
