| So yesterday played in my first sealed tourney at my FLGS. Which i organized as well, actually getting some interest in DDM locally now, thank god...
So there were 5 of us playing, played swiss format. 2 boosters 200 point, any booster the flgs had except for GoL. I went with deathknell acuse its still what i need the most mini's from that is still on store shelves.
Dont remember everything i pulled but here goes...

Anyway, i went with the following warband.

I was trying to maximize the warpriests commander effect. Only other thing i considered was swapping the artificer for the forest troll but decided that the greater magic weapon and the legions was a better combo for the group.
The first game i went up against couatl, zombie white, steel monk, ibixian and hatchliong, renegade warlock, kenku sneak. We played on maps and i won the init so we played on the map from hellspike with the smoke. First couple rounds was just moving up and into the smoke o hide from the warlock and couatl. This one was actually pretty boring. I won on points. Didnt have any victory area points, just took out his dwarf caver, warlock, and steel monk. Got nervous at one point when he made the ettin route but it made its morale save and came back to base the couatl. Won like 80-50.
Second round i played a pretty good band (from my limited experience that is). Greenfang druid, 2x skullclan hunter, 2x dwarf phalanx soldier, draginblade ninja, ibixian and a hatchling. This one i was retarded to say the least. Forgot he had not activated his skullclan's yet so moved my ettin up to the pahlanx soldiers and took one out, then he sidestepped both his hunters and spanked my ettin. That was pretty much most of the fight, still put up a pretty good showing in the end, came down to my warpriest and artificer against his druid, 1 skullclan and ninja.
3rd round i had a buy.
plaayed 3 rounds and with the buy and the win in the first round i was in the championship match. PLayed the same greenfang band, we went 3-0 up til then. This time however i didnt play stupid with the activations. From the first battle i knew he was going to try and come up and get victory area points, we played on drow outpost (same as first match). Basically i played really defensive to begin with. He go his hatchling up to a victory area on the second turn and got points, i based it with my monk however. 3rd round his skullclan hunters got in range, let him have the init and they went before the warpriest. Basically it came down to some really bad rolls on his part turning the fight heavily in my favor. on the third round i paralyzed his first skullclan hunter with the warpriest (DC 15 and they are level 9 and it failed its save). Immediately based it with the monk and the ettin right behind it. Following round starts and i try the same on the other hunter, and it fails its save as well!! Ettin goes next and kills one, hurts the other, monk hots the other and it saves on the route. Basically that was the game there. next round a little chasing and a dead skullclan, dwarf phalanx fell in an earlier round to the dark traveler. For some reason he has his ninja on my artificer for like 4 rounds without doing but 10 damage to it.
But i had a lot of fun and like sealed, although a lot does rely on luck. Won first pick from an angelfire and underdark booster, took a trumpet archon. and then some other fodder, didnt really need anything out of the boosters.
But only real question is would you have changed the warband i chose in anyway? Just trying to improve my skills | |
